Strikers and the comfort zone

538

There’s something healthy when the arrival of a new striker, who has yet to trouble the net, has raised the game of an incumbent.  If you talk to footballers they’ll tell you they need to be challenged.  Even most greats hit a comfort zone, where they know they are cherished by manager and fans alike, so that knot in the stomach about where the next contract is coming from never materialises.

Gary Hooper missed this at Celtic.  He was the apple of Neil Lennon’s eye, and clearly top striker at Celtic, but a few seasons in his appetite for the same old challenge seemed to wane.  I’m assured by those who shared a dressing room with Henrik Larsson, this was one area which set the Swede aside.  The accolades meant nothing to him, he wanted every trophy, every record, which perhaps indicates why he captured the Champions League in his mid-30s.

my point was there are many good people in the world who stand up for injustice, no matter what faith or nationalit and had a lot more to lose including their own life.

Parkheadcumsalford you have found my weakness ” the weather forecast”, now your running it at night also. my only saving grace is weather is a wee bit warmer here. Yes, we got a lot of mileage out of ” Any Bus”

  5. Tin foil hat on for this — just a thought.

I have been trying to understand some of the recent TFOD2 happenings.

Base point — MW as manager, why him and why now.

Couple of points come to the surface — he has made money in the city, he is late into any form of football and he has some new ideas.

Any thoughts on him paying for the TFOD2 managers job.

They are skint and he wants to get involved at the highest level.

In F1 you have dreamers and wannabes who bag a seat based on the sponsorship they can bring in. All you need is a modicum of talent and a F1 drivers licence which can be gained with the right amount of lower level experience and training.

I cannot get my head around MW turning up at the TFOD2 now.

If he was as good as some suggest then why not another EFL gig?

He looks to be a man in a hurry but why would someone with his limited record make the cut in Govan.

How many other more trad candidates were out there and available?

Consequently what was his USP to the TFOD2 board — I suggest money.

Would any manager with the correct training or training programme get the job if their financials were better than any other candidate footprint the job?

Is MW on very low wages?

    Is he on no wages?

Or is he paying to live the FM in real life dream?

As noted before I am wearing a tin foil hat.

I love my faith, as I have already posted I question all the time, but for me my catholic faith will never hinder anybody, my belief is if it helps my family through bad times (death) well we are not harming anybody, had a right good few nights on Cqn from wee Lizzie the Nazi (each to their own) to super Leigh Griffiths (who might score more than Henrik) to Jamesgang making HT the cross dressing guy from that advert…. Anyway Cqn take care and Hail Hail

I’m meeting Noel on Wednesday in Sean Og’s for the second leg.

Met up with Árd Macha last week.

Attendances at the AGM have been down for the last two or three years.

I blame the forced relegation of Sevco for the dwindling numbers!!

Once they are back where they belong, then numbers will rise!

  18. I remember reading away back in 2003 that 1% of the available worlds commercial aircraft fleet were used in an airlift to the Spanish city of Seville. Just sitting hear watching the Tour De France and got me wondering …….what percentage of of the worlds camper van fleet follow the tour

Roy Croppie, really liked the photo from the 1968 particulary Jimmy Steele, our unpaid massuse and comedian (according to some our players) , out the dug out celebrating.

From what I have been told Jimmy was loved by the players during his time with us as he always lifted their spirits due to his great sense of humour.

Been reported her maiden speech has been viewed 11 million times. What was her take on the price of oil which was once supposed to be the main economic driver of an independant Scotland continuing in the doldrums, or did she no bother with what is admittedly a minor detail?

In 1997, the then Chief Secretary to the Treasury, William Waldegrave admitted that between 1978 and 1995 Scotland generated a surplus of £27.6 billion (£34 billion at today’s prices). Moreover secret British government documents written in the 1970s and uncovered by the SNP through Freedom of Information, revealed that with Independence: “(Scotland) would tend to be in chronic surplus to a quite embarrassing degree.”
