Supporting your ex, hurting the one you love, ballsy Ashley

892

I’ve plenty of sympathy for Niall McGinn for coming under pressure after being spotted at the Kilmarnock-Celtic game on Monday, but not in any way distressed.  Players watch former clubs all the time, it’s not even remotely an issue, but Niall is experiencing the cost of playing in a team at the top of the league.  Aberdeen fans would neither notice nor care where he was on Monday if they were in their usual mid-table spot.

A taste of internecine strife does more damage than any external party could ever hope to inflict.  Glad to hear it’s taken route at our nearest rivals.  On a similar note…….

A serious bid to bring newco Rangers to its knees got into full swing yesterday, as thousands of ‘fans’ signed up to spend not a penny more with the club, while mock-Rangers jerseys (should that be mock-mock-Rangers?), sold by fans’ groups, were profiled in the media.

If you know your history, 20 years ago a group of Celtic fans, some working on the frontline, some working behind the scenes, orchestrated the Celts for Change campaign, which ultimately brought regime change at Celtic.

Celts for Change had two fundamental factors in their favour: people with access to the money required to resolve the club’s problems were among them, while those running Celtic did not have access to significant funds, personal or otherwise.

The lessons of Celts for Change is that before you hurt the club you love: make sure you are capable of laying a glove on those you are trying to damage, and when you bring things to a head, ensure you have the money to put things right.  In newco’s case this will be many tens of millions.

I backed Celts for Change and I wholeheartedly back those who are trying to bring down newco.  Their plans and foresight are exceptional.

Care to guess which Scottish club has been most active in the transfer market this month?  Falkirk, who have signed their fifth player.  They have won six of their last seven games and are now within a win of getting into a play-off spot.  Hot tip for the play-offs: Falkirk, Hibs, Queen of the South and Ross County.

What about Mike Ashley yesterday appointing Duff & Phelps as administrators to one of his companies?  Just in case you think he’s not ballsy.

Aye,I read that earlier. The article credits him with bringing through some top youngsters at Stuttgart.

Strangely,it omits Andreas Hinkel, can’t for the life of me think why.

  4. As someone pointed out, the key point re. the emergency loan was the fact that Ashley was not the contributor.

Is this a sign of his having closed his vault?

  5. We now have 85 entrants for Last Man Stranding 3 and still not too late to join in the fun – just email your interest to cqnpredictor@gmail.com and full details will be sent back this evening. Surely we can get another 3 with a modest prize going to entrant #88.

6.5 million is the amount the American guy ( Sarver?) has offered to loan Sevco on top of his purchase offer. I think !

  9. Lennybhoy: is there much meat left? With all the loans secured against various assets, not forgetting CW’s claims, I am amazed there is anything left worth chewing on.

It’s all about the Fixed Assets now, that’s all that is left. Like Through the Keyhole…who lives in the House, that mate in my opinion is the end game i.e. who gets them, only time will answer that question.

  11. It’s taking too long. I want it all over and done with before Feb 1st. I do not want that game to take place.

  12. Changing the subject back to Celtic….

Andreas Hinkel, yet another guid player reduced to whipping-bhoy material by wee wonderful Gordon. His acceptance of the assault by Lafferty without attempting to even the score – the Celtic way – deemed him not good enough for the hoops – imho.

I know folk – nitpickers – will lay siege to me and claim that, Laffatme had a licence to kick/assault Celtic’s players. What, more of a licence than Greig, Hurlock, feck-face Fergushun who bullied Celtic teams that didny have a, David Hay, Bertie Auld, Roy Aitken, Murdo, Burley, Lambert, Lennon, Kayal(1st season) in the team?

And, ironic maybe that, ye don’t have to spend £millions to get a guid player as, AH was a more expensive replacement for the tailor-made for the hoops – Paul Telfer, who imho…is Celtic’s best RB since Danny McGrain.

Yeah, that wee episode really pissed me off, PT £200k was a brilliant player for Celtic. I would go as far as to say that, the equally brilliant Nakamura played his best stuff for us when he had the understanding partnership on the right with PT. It is said that several £millions were spent on AH, a fact conveniently ignored by the MO’N bashers who claimed that, wee poor Gordon didny get the money that MO’N got???? aye, boo hoo.

The 1st season MO’N was at Celtic he spent practically – hee-haw – compared to what he brought in and, it amounts to ‘lazy journalism’ the way that comparisons in spending between, MO’N & WGS are always slanted to make it look as though MO’N had been given a blank cheque-book….aye right.

Off the top of my head…..

    Viduka £6m – Sutton £6

    Berkovic £5m – Lennon £5m

    Burley £3m – Thommo £2.5m

    Riseth £1.5m – Joos £3.5m

    Burchill £100k – Agathe £35k

    …………………. – Vega freebie/loan?

So, ye see…not too bad a lay out when ye consider that MO’N delivered our one and, only ‘treble’ since the Mr Stein years and, a few hunskelpings against the most expensively assembled Rangers squad in history. Made me happy anyway.

Would Hinkel have got into MO’N’s team? Hmmm? Maybe MO’N would have gotten into his heid and let him know what was what?

    Anyway, Off oot, bye.

  13. It is with great sadness that we learned overnight of the death of Martin ‘Kano’ Kane .

Kano’s passing has come as a shock to everyone at The Kano Foundation and our thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn , his children and his family at this sad time.

Martin was a well-loved member of the Celtic family and an inspiration to us all in the way he fought to overcome his illness .

We are honoured to have had him as our patron and it will be with a touch of sadness that we continue our work in his honour. But it will also be with the real privilege of having known him and we are sure Martin would be proud, just as he always was in life.

    Rest in peace Martin

As Kano you brought so much to CQN, when you became ill, those infamous words from our pal Pablo “we have to do something” and do something was exactly what each and everyone one of this wonderful community did! We helped bring Martin home!

That wasn’t enough though, and so many wanted your name and the charitable Celtic way to continue and now Martin because of you we have the wonderl Kano Foundation!

To Carolyn and the family my thoughts and prayers are with you! Raymie my thoughts are with you too I know you have lost your best pal!

  24. A very sad day on CQN with Martin Kane’s passing.

It was my one wish for 2015 that a miracle would happen and Kano would get better, it was never going to get happen in this world.
