Sweeten the medicine, Celtic

991

There is an unusually sombre tempo head of tomorrow’s Champions League last 16 tie, a consequences of the 0-3 reversal at home three weeks ago and the general sentiment around Scottish football this week, but this match is an excellent test for both manager and playing squad.

We are a Champions League team again with aspirations to achieve at this level next season.  Having finally overcome the hoodoo of never having won away from home in the competition, we must use occasions like tomorrow to continue our growth in the competition.

We defended our 18-yard line in the Camp Nou and almost got away with a point.  The plan was wrong in Lisbon, where a talented Benfica controlled midfield and recorded a narrow win, but the win against Spartak in Moscow was deserved.

Celtic might not be able to qualify for the quarter finals but they can win the match tomorrow; this is an achievable objective which would sweeten the inevitable medicine.

Nani was sent off for the same reason as Celtic players were plainly wrestled to the ground at dead ball situations v Juventus. Platini’s team against a bunch of peripheral upstarts.

As far as viewing his future contributions on here, i’ll stick witht he tried and tested formula until proven different; if it phrases its contempt for Celtic issues like a Zombie, and posts like a Zombie, it’s a Zombie.

Not at all, Ska-lad – did you actually read his opening salvo back of 6pm?

Seems Paul has deleted the two posts, one containing a line straight from the quintessential FollowFollow phrasebook.

There are plenty Hunposters around; extremes sometimes unearth them.

He maintains himself a Celt, heading on the same plane to go watch us tonight; hmm…

    Margaret,

OK I know what he´s on about now.

His 1st post was quite aggresive & very Hunnish.

But seemingly he´s quite a good Tim & I don´t understand why he came on like that.

TBH I´ve been all over the place watching Celtic & seen a lot of things bad by Celtic supporters but I´d rather not broadcast them

  7. Maggie, timbhoy – the posts have since been deleted.

They kicke doff a series of arguments back and forth.

Some called him out as a Hun/ Hunposter – me included, obviously – others sought to defend him as a Celt; he himself claimed to have been a CQN poster of 4 years.

To me that means notihng; I’ve been a Timposter on followFollow for 2-3 years ;) winding up the Huns.

His opening 2 posts got my hackles up. He did not sound like any concerned Celtic fan.

His first post, merely a sentence, claimed a dozen or so Celtic fans huckled off a Milan-bound plane at Heathrow by 15 cops.

His second post was another sentence a couple of minutes later,. I make no apologies for roaring Hun/Zombie at him for that; he trortted out ‘best fans in the world, my f###### a#######’.

Like I said – straight out the FollowFollow stock zombie phrasebook; I’ve read it among them a thousand times when we’re getting berated.

He spent the rest of the evening backtracking, assuring us of his presence on the plane, heading fort he game, etc, quoting a seat number, throwing our some merry banter.

    I remain less than convinced.

All I’m saying is, sometimes the mask slips.

  12. Okay, got to go to kiop.

Last two points on the man of the hour:

    1) If I was on a plane and some bhoys were making a nuisance of themselves – IF I chose to post about it, I might instinctively qualify my witness from the start; i.e ‘Look, I’m on this plane and there’s trouble…’ Would I just state it, matter-of-pseudo-fact then follow up with another statement of aggressive disgust borrowed from our greatest detractors? No, I wouldn’t…

    2) If I was on a Celtic forum and not one of the genuine faithful I may chose to post about trouble on a plane prior to a big away game because there’s history of it, often referred to by the huns as some minor riposte to their Manchester sacking, and because I was devious enough to recognise that most ‘sports journos’ in Scotchland get their salacious gossip from forums and print it as witnessed fact… ergo the classic self-fulfilling prophecy so beloveed of Celtic’s underminers.

    I’m just saying…

This jury shall remain out and sat at the bar with pint in hand and furrowed brow.

G’night and here’s to some sort of victory in Turin, if not qualification extraordinaire.

  18. To be honest, after the SFA stitch up , the farce at Old Trafford and other crap, feeling quite melancholy about the passing of Hugo Chavez….

He was the only man who stood up at the UN and called out the smell of Sulphur from Bush jr, when I worked in the South Bronx he organized cheap fuel for the local communities (much to the furore of Feds), and most memorably….

Two Irish boys filmed a documentary which exposed the first attempted ‘velvet’ revolution to oust him, when the populace refused to be bowed to modern media propaganda, and the US machine…

He may have had his faults.. But he was, IMO, a glorious rebel, who should be judged by his actions against the odds. He brought health, education and opportunity to the impoverished..

    Respect…..

    Easy peasy…..

    Dear SFA

It has come to my attention that your President is Campbell Ogilvie. I would like to draw to your attention that in March 2012 Mr. Ogilvie admitted to being a member of the Employee Benefit Trust scheme run at Rangers when he was a Director of Rangers as well as the treasurer of the Scottish Football Association. He has has denied that this creates a clear conflict of interest in relation to the ongoing SFA investigation into whether the use of EBT’s by Rangers constituted illegal financial doping which in retrospect has resulted in the total destruction and liquidation of the company that he was once general secretary of and was responsible for overseeing all things financial.

If this situation does not concern you in the least because it ultimately only negatively impacts the Timmites then on a secondary concern it has come to my attention that Oglivie held 3505 shares in Rangers FC while a senior manager at Hearts your other pet project. I suspect that this slight oversight on your part is because Hearts have concurrently been run by Romanov a name that shivers up your spine and prevents you from addressing issues because of your blind bigotry based on word association.

    Pope Pickingly yours

    Buenas Noches mi amigos

    And up the Celts.

  24. Seems to me like some people want CQN to go the way of Follow Follow.

As_I_Thought reported bad behaviour by some Celtic fans on a Milan flight that was sitting on the tarmac on a 2-hour delay because of said misbehaviour.

According to some posters, he should not have mentioned it on CQN and has been roundly abused and slaughtered for daring to do so. Of course the guy was angry. So would any of us be having sat there for up to 2 hours.

It seems it is open season on personally abusing Peter LAwwell on here, but dare anyone spill the beans on nefarious behaviour by Celtic fans abroad and you are ridiculed and accused of being a Hun.

That, to me, is Hun-like behaviour.

    Thanks!
