Tactically aware athlete needed

2217

I don’t know anything about Stefan Johansen, who is one of several central midfield players Celtic are tracking, but I’m pleased we’re scouting for this area.  There’s no question we are missing a penalty box predator but you could make a case that the sense of calm and control exerted by Victor Wanyama in the middle of the park is a more telling absence.

Nir Biton has all the potential to get there eventually but it’s going to take him time.  He reminds me of Ki, who a couple of seasons ago was fifth choice central mid for Celtic, behind Brown, Wanyama, Ledley and Kayal.  This season I’ve watched him collect and distribute, close space and bring shape to a struggling Sunderland team.

I’ve also watched a bit of Barry Robson since his return to Aberdeen.  Despite his advancing years he remains one of the most intelligent footballers in the game.  His arrival in the Celtic midfield six years ago changed Celtic into a winning team.    You don’t need Pele for this role, just a tactically aware athlete.

How many accountants does it take to tell you that losing circa £1m per month is not a good idea?  Lots, apparently.

Yep TET, that is on his Club profile. Anyhow thats me done for the night, Must say I’m absolutely buzzing after today’s show by the khids. Night All Hail Hail

Forgetting Celtic, I think there are 4 clubs who have very decent managers in the SPFL.

Those managers being McCall, McInnes, McNamara and Butcher.

Thank the lord Super Salary is on such a wonderful contract at sevco because three of the four managers mentioned above would, in my opinion, be able to get sevco into the top flight with a very, very limited budget.

Anyway super salary is in charge and as he says in the papers, he probably needs a bigger budget to compete not a reduction.

    Long live Super Salary.

You withdrawing from the Naps Competition?

Btw,I agree with you. You just have to look at the over-round in any race to see that the odds are heavily stacked.

Or in a game of football, where 115% is not unusual.

  4. The last discussion on here about a North Atlantic league was met with derision by some on here and to be honest, it didn’t really inspire me either.

Something has to give though, as has been mentioned, playing against ten men behind a ball is not entertainment.

I’d rather play teams in open games rather than watch what we are watching in the spfl just now.

I didn’t manage to see any of our games but reading the posts from fellow posters both games were highly entertaining.

A reincarnation will eventually be back and through time, there will be a challenge from thems, in their eyes and through time, it will told as only a blip.

Football is moving on. I’m sure Celtic is not the only club fed up with the stranglehold the elite have, unless some rich magnet feels like buying a new toy, I don’t see it changing unless other clubs put pressure on for a change.

Hopefully that is the route the board is persuing.

I start every season with a grand, when it’s gone it’s gone, have still not to finish the season, and most seasons I make a profit.

A few years ago, there was a Celtic site called Jinky’s Oars, and he did the same, start with a grand, only bet singles @ 100 a bet, when he got to 2K the bets went to 200 a time, 3K 300 and so on, he did very well, I have no idea what happened to the site, missed big time.

  6. I saw the chat about Cardiff yesterday, free money apparently, didn’t argue as most people don’t change their perspective where money’s involved. TET know a mate swears by singles but I bottle one team betting- shouldn’t but I do. It literally doesn’t maker sense but part of me likes a big win. My first online win was £ 850 from a ten spot.

On another note the bhoys looked fine tonight from the short highlights kindly posted. I can’t help thinking they will, though, in open games(similar to the semi) or games where a team have their own defined structure or spacing they will express themselves better. (not SPL)Prime example was Forrest in the Europa League, he was excellent as most teams advanced their left back and didn’t double up, which ultimately helped his development. So contrary to playing less of these tournies, I would play more of them. I have opinion on other things re the way we work positive mostly, but, get games for the young and developing players against technical teams with players expressing themselves? Please do this a lot, Not long ago some were promoting we Harlem Globe- trotted it against supporting Scottish football, I think we should want to be invited to every tournament that’s happening whilst competing in our now honourable league. credit to out chiefs for promoting and negotiating this- that takes a hell of a lot of work. You can hit two birds with one stone- development and funds – this is a good thing. A very good thing.

Been gambling since I was 13. So, 43 years in all. Profitable years? Could count them on the fingers of one hand. That includes about 5 years where I’ve owned horses and was ” in the know”.

So, why keep gambling? Well, I guess we are always chasing that one big pay off. The lucky 15. Yankee, patent or trixie that are the bookies dream bet. Place a Yankee. 11 bets. 6 doubles, 4 trebles and an accumulator. 1 loser and that’s you left with 4 bets, so 7 bets gone with the one loser.

How much do people bet? In most cases I guess, whatever they feel they can afford to lose. In some cases however, more than can be afforded.

You’ll never stop people gambling, or indeed smoking or drinking. All likely to cause you some damage depending on the extent to which you indulge, all expensive, but still as popular, more popular in some cases, than they ever have been.

I thot the Bhoys were brill today. They wernt intimidated by the crowd or some of the big headed stars who didnt like it up em.

  9. Enjoyed the game, the wee James, Biton, Balde n Pukki were fantastic, closely followed by Henderson and Lukas….a joy to watch at times against a strong Galatasary side that are now in the last 16. Let’s hope Lenny sees that these bhoy can do the business and not revert to type as he did after the Liverpool game.

Twisty – Yankees, etc. are mugs bets. Look at the odds involved! Better to stick to decent priced singles and doubles, although the big accumulator would be a dream!

I was a sap yesterday and picked the wrong horse for my nap and missed out on an 8/1 winner. At least I backed it….it was my only winner of the day.

I mentioned last week that something inside me tells me Boerritger has something to offer. Problem is, it’s borne out of gut feel more than anything. This afternoon, after watching him, I’m still of the same opinion. Today I felt that he wanted to be wearing that famous shirt. He offered aggression and passion, which were probably 2 of the qualities I felt he lacked prior to today.

I’m sticking by Derk for a bit longer yet. Whilst admittedly I’m not fully convinced just yet, I’m not unconvinced either. I think he can prove my judgement correct. ( then again I was convinced Cardiff would win yesterday:-)

    ________________________________________________________

The Boerrighter fella obviously has a lot to offer, he said he was the White Usain Bolt, or something along those lines.

Luckily for Derk, he has a Manager who is a Master of getting the very best out of his players, next season we will see the real Derk, IMO.

Looks like wee Jamesie is also getting back to his best, what an incredible talent he is, Neil will want him fully fit asap.

When I bet, singles, I work on the same princiipal as the bloke from Jinky’s Oars did, but they are 25 euro bets, singles only, and in the main, it works, I limit my accas to much less, 5 for trebles, 3 for more, and over the years, it’s the singles that pays the bills, but every now and again, a biggie come home, tis the lure of the big win……….

    I was blessed for a few years back in Ireland, mate had a shop just outside Dublin, and I got info that I shouldn’t have, he didn’t give a bollix who was going to win a race, all he wanted to know who wasn’t going to win, the logic at first went over my head, but after a time >} bought this place here for me, sadly that info has long gone, it stopped when he retired from the shop <{

To this day I wouldn't have a clue about horse racing, I know they eat at one end and shit at the other, that would be my knowledge of horses, and I am happy to keep it that way.

The big on-line bookies are more ‘penny-ante’ now than ever before.

The BAGS greyhound Track Championship final was on Christmas week.

I had a decent bet on Sheffield at 5/1 before the first round heats were run.

The day before the final they were the 11/8 favourites with only Newcasltle 11/4 & Hove 4/1 looking serious rivals .. A nice position to bet round.

    Betfred were offering 4/1 Hove with 1/4 the odds a place 1/ 2 /3 ( all other firms were 1/4 odds 1/2.)

Opened an account & asked for £100 Each Way.

    I was told I could have £20 e/w.

    £20 ???

    2014 ???

I could have had what I was asking for 50 years ago when £100 was a decent bet.

I declined their offer & closed the account.

  18. Well done the Celtic Bhoys today.

Ally McLeod was mentioned earlier. As a student in Edinburgh if I couldn’t get through to watch my team cos I was playing I always went to see Hearts or Hibs. I was lucky enough to see Joe Baker and George Best play for Hibs and saw some very good Hearts players including Donald Ford.

I do remember standing just behind the dugout at a Hearts v Ayr Utd game and was amazed at how hard Ally McLeod worked throughout the game motivating, lifting and organizing his poor side against a good Hearts team, He put more effort into the game than some of the players and lost it emotionally when Ayr scored and won with a breakaway goal near the end. He never had the experience for the Scotland job and sadly it destroyed him.

Never saw the game and have just been catching up on the CQN commentary.

By all accounts our youngsters played with confidence, aggression and discipline.

It’s illogical to assume or suggest that we make sweeping changes to incorporate many of this new crop into the first team.

We’ll win the league, so I’d like to see one or possibly two included most weeks until the seaso’s end.

The young bhoys done good, much better than I honestly thought they would, especially in the second half when Gala put their 1st team out.

I think the problem in the game against Morton was changing half the team, it was a mish mash, either play the kids as a team, cos they know each other, or blood one at a time.

Give a player a run of games, let’s see if they can do the biz, but it’s scotland, where they are not protected, a real problem for Lenny imo.

Big Amido, he can handle himself, gave it out, took it as well, as did Henderson, his booking when he fouled Snider was class, and that was after taking him out a couple of times, no respect for him, great to see, Biton was magic.give him a start every game, he will only get better.
