I don’t know anything about Stefan Johansen, who is one of several central midfield players Celtic are tracking, but I’m pleased we’re scouting for this area. There’s no question we are missing a penalty box predator but you could make a case that the sense of calm and control exerted by Victor Wanyama in the middle of the park is a more telling absence.
Nir Biton has all the potential to get there eventually but it’s going to take him time. He reminds me of Ki, who a couple of seasons ago was fifth choice central mid for Celtic, behind Brown, Wanyama, Ledley and Kayal. This season I’ve watched him collect and distribute, close space and bring shape to a struggling Sunderland team.
I’ve also watched a bit of Barry Robson since his return to Aberdeen. Despite his advancing years he remains one of the most intelligent footballers in the game. His arrival in the Celtic midfield six years ago changed Celtic into a winning team. You don’t need Pele for this role, just a tactically aware athlete.
How many accountants does it take to tell you that losing circa £1m per month is not a good idea? Lots, apparently.

16 roads….
You think McGeady has pace compared to top players in EPL.
Really?
Sevco accountants ask how much will you get for your top earners
eg Wallace, Templeton, Shiels and McCoist.
According to the Daily Record £5 million plus and a job
for McCoist at the Greggs in Govan Rd.
The accountants cannot believe that
Greggs would give McCoist a job.

I will answer your question when he begins to play in the EPL.
He most certainly had the pace to play in the CL,the real big league, and also at international level, obviously…

Whifflet St. Mary’s CSC Coatbridge was the oldest CSC in Coatbridge. They did for years leave from the Barnyard, which was Alfie and Wullie’s Pub. On the Aberdeen trips you got in early, back door so to speak although there wasn’t one. On the Aberdeen trips Wullie would be in around 07:30 pulling pints for us.
I was a member from around 89 until it folded four years ago. I was on the Committee for most of those years and basically ran the Club until it folded.
We left the Barnyard and moved to the Clock Bar.
Where you from?

Tommorows game should be interesting Lennie is going to play a young team and I dont think the result is that important as our opponents are Turkish Champions and still in the Champions league it will be difficult for a young team to beat them.I think it is more important for the youngsters to get the experience so im going to have to curb my win at all costs Celtic and just enjoy watching how the youngsters perform.I also saw Aiden being introduced to the Everton crowd I think he needs to get fit as he appeared to be carrying a few extra lbs but I wish him all the best.H.H.
The speed of this Barca gave us incredible …..tired watching it
……as he scoops another Stella..found a case in the garage that I had assumed Jnr and his pals had tanned …
Lovely
Lennybhoy.Do the McGeoghs still own the clock bar ? H.H.
“Aiden McGeady is a fast and skilful winger and someone I rate highly. He’d be successful anywhere in Europe.
“We will have to be very careful with him because his movement can be special and he has a great ability to appear in goalscoring positions out of the blue. I really like the way he plays football. He is a natural talent, who can create a brilliant piece of play in the blink of an eye…” – Lionel Messi.

#4 for the Albion used to fill in for us at 5s when we were short when he was about
14. Was a cracking player
(his big brothers often played with us and were pals with my mates nephew)
Ran into one of the brothers watching boxing day game in boozer
Asked “whatever happened to the wee man”
He laughed and said “you always said he would make it even as a 14 year old
He is at the Rovers”
All I can say is if he is anything like older brothers he will be Celtic daft.
Ps If Glorious balance sheet is on line sorry for suggesting you were a hun
Last week just before system crashed…
Too many apple juices and your name just seemed to irk me. Not been on since.

I really hope Aiden does well in EPL,but fear he might just be a very ordinary player in a difficult environment. He didn’t set the world alight in Moscow.Remember watching him against Chelsea in Champions League and he was very poor compared to when I saw him play against Benfica for Celtic.Lets be honest ….he doesn’t need to be a world beater to get picked for ROI.
Like I said…..hope I’m wrong.

The ongoing saga at Ibrokes is becoming more ridiculous by the day …losing £1m per month , share price plummeting yet the fat controller is in the papers saying he hasn’t been told that he will need to move players on
Slash and burn of the playing staff and of the management and admin officers wages
The MSM are playing three monkeys as the speed towards another insolvency event
One could think they do it deliberately
Mcgeadys problem isnt that he lacks pace its that most of the time he has no end product
Sevco shares now 27 pence.
3p less than a used ginger bottle.
When they go into administration
how many of them will be claiming
that they are still the same club ?

No worries mate.
It’s just that I tend not to believe the hype that surrounds that league.
I think that Aiden will be a revelation,he can handle the pressure no bother,he probably thrives on it.
You look at young Seamus Coleman – by far the best right back in the EPL.
Is he better than Mikel Lustig or wee Adam Matthews though?
I am not sure about that.

Maybe it’s the problem of those who have difficulty appreciating a decent player

That £9.5million transfer fee saved our bacon.
JC2
I think he is in his early 20s … put some right hard but fair tackles in …
Bhoylo….
I think he does lack pace to play at the very top level…..only my humble opinion.
He has incredibly quick feet but so do most attacking midfielders in the EPL…..that is a basic requirement.
I will judge him on assists and goals between now and the end of the season or any season and compare him to players in similar positions in his league. His record was not good in Russia and Martinez has taken an inexpensive punt on what he remembers him for at Celtic.

I would have been in the minority, Aiden was everything we lack in the Team right now. Too many did not appreciate him until it was too late…he’ll mind them!

The very fact that the accountants have been brought in
should tell even the most dim witted of their supporters
that they are in serious do do.
The accountants are not there to rescue the situation
but to try and con the powers that be that they are trying to be financially responsible.
Cough, splutter and laugh.

The abuse on here directed at Aiden drove a very special poster away from the blog as you’ll probably know but we’ll leave it at that.
Hope all’s well with you and your family.
Football supporters can be fickle, sometimes ungrateful even.
Aiden never hid.
Remember he was playing on pitches that weren’t fit for race horses, two defenders marking him every game, sometimes three, kicking him up and down the pitch.
No protection from the MIBs,hounded at every away ground – he rolled up he sleeves and dedemanded the football be played to him.
A class footballer,in my humble opinion.

I ken
Narrow minded eejits who couldn’t bring themselves to admit he had a good game even when it was blatantly obvious
And ….I am and will :-))
I will tell you what impressed me about Everton signing Aiden…the way they did it. Yes, it was rumoured last year he was going to Everton. However, even Sky did not have a clue until today. Jeff Steling said he was at the game today. Then they go over just before K.O. and he is in the Tunnel with his top on. 5 minutes later he is introduced to the Fans.
Why can we not do business this way?
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
SOAL – I may well be slightly biased, reason being he was a Celt whom also played in the green of Ireland.
You look at how delighted Corkcelt was when a lad from the rebel county turned out for us recently.
I always hope for a Celt from Belfast to sign for us,it’s been a long time from Anton played at Paradise.
But sure the legendary Charlie Tully will always be part of the club’s great history.

Good to hear.
Always been a big fan of Aiden, and wish him every success in the EPL, where I am sure he will be a success.
Remember his goal against Valencia, the performance as a teenager against Milan, and some great performances against Rankers.
16 roads…
I agree Coleman is a great prospect since being moved to right back, but in my humble opinion there are at least 3 better right backs in EPL at the minute…..
Xabaleta,Glen Johnson,and Ivanisovic.
Micah Richards would be better than any of these if he could get his head right,
Adam Matthews will definitely play for a top 4 EPL team in future, from what I’ve seen of him.
Victor Wanyama has been the best player to come to English football, from Celtic, since Kenny Dalglish and will prove this when he comes back from injury…..sensational start so far until he got crocked.
