I don’t know anything about Stefan Johansen, who is one of several central midfield players Celtic are tracking, but I’m pleased we’re scouting for this area. There’s no question we are missing a penalty box predator but you could make a case that the sense of calm and control exerted by Victor Wanyama in the middle of the park is a more telling absence.
Nir Biton has all the potential to get there eventually but it’s going to take him time. He reminds me of Ki, who a couple of seasons ago was fifth choice central mid for Celtic, behind Brown, Wanyama, Ledley and Kayal. This season I’ve watched him collect and distribute, close space and bring shape to a struggling Sunderland team.
I’ve also watched a bit of Barry Robson since his return to Aberdeen. Despite his advancing years he remains one of the most intelligent footballers in the game. His arrival in the Celtic midfield six years ago changed Celtic into a winning team. You don’t need Pele for this role, just a tactically aware athlete.
How many accountants does it take to tell you that losing circa £1m per month is not a good idea? Lots, apparently.

Billybhoy…..
All about opinion mate…
Chokky was a great player in ,for most of the time,a poor ManUre team…agreed.
The rest were before Dalglish and achieved nothing like he did.Bobby Murdoch was a magnificent footballer but his best days were at Celtic.
I think big Vic will play for one of the English or European giants mate ….he is that good.
atletico barca is a good watch,
i predict if sammi goes to spain he will be fantastic.
I still can’t forgive atletico Madrid for 1974 – talk about holding a grudge

Nevin in the early 80s ran with some some Bhoys from Airdrie that I went to School with. He was often seen in some of the same pubs I drank in.

First time poster on this site so be gentle.
Concerned with your last paragraph. I read it to be that Nevin has made some accusations regarding Commentators, co-commentators, pundits or producers.
He is big enough (pardon the pun) to fight his own battles. If I read the insinuation correctly then Celtic forums should not be fighting his battles for him particularly following some of his comments regarding our support. He should make recordings similar to Craig Whyte and take copies of them over the heads of the people directly involved.
There has also been discussion regarding Aiden McGeady tonight. The guy does have undoubted talent however I hope, in his time in Russia, he has learned that when the left back goes beyond him he MUST give him the ball. The amount of times the left back went beyond him only for him to cut inside and lose the ball leaving the whole of the left side empty was quite frankly unforgivable. I remember it happening three times in the one game and if I had been the our left back either him or me would not have taken the field for the second half. In my opinion he made a succession of left backs look poor because of his poor decision making.
As a forward you are always told to ‘time your run’ to beat the offside trap because players going at speed simply cannot check their run when the pass does not come. This is important but equally important is the player with the ball parting with it at the right time and this was a virtual constant with Aiden. That was another problem I had with him. Midfields are congested places in the SPL but from where I sit three rows from the back of the North Stand this problem was glaringly obvious. People always shouted at various forwards for being offside but, when the pass should have been played, Aiden frequently took another touch and then played the pass leaving the guy stranded.
Rye catcher
Before Southampton match other week one of presenters did an analysis of goals conceded before and after Vic’s broken leg and the difference would certainly bear out your contention.
That’s three posts in an hour I’m away for a lye doon.

Did someone not say on here a couple of months ago that McGeady was going to Everton and that he wanted to finish his career back at Celtic?
========================================================
Ernie
Could very well have been myself who said that. Speaking to a very close friend of Aidens a couple of years back, he said he`d like to try the EPL but finish his career back at Celtic.
Then about 6 months ago from a different but reliable source I was told he was going to Everton.
Roofers wanted for a job in Govan :)

Loved Aidinho when he played for us and I still love him. Hated seen the pic of him in a blue jersey even though it had Chang on it. Apart from his skills, Aiden is a Tim he is one of us and always will be. He played his heart out for us and didn’t run down any contract or demand a move away. When he left, he landed us with a small fortune, loads of memories but I’ll remember the grin on his face when he smashed in the last minute penalty in Hampden against the deceased Club.

I mind Aiden playing mainly on the left though he was more right footed. Naka was left footed but played mainly on the right. Always thought WGS got that one wrong but he might have known more than I.

Up to the 75th minute. Sorry bout the delay man.
Any truth in the rumour that loads of Sevco fans got relocated in the Broomloan Road Stand today, due to ‘roof problems’ becoming apparent during the mismatch v plumbers and joiners from Fife?

I think he played on both wings.
Remember the run he made to win the penalty in the League Cup final when he went the full length of the pitch. He did it on our left wing.
I just remember he made the veins bulge in my neck in frustration. A bit like big Sammy, he did nothing for my blood pressure.
My first ever game of football was Albion Rovers Vs Celtic, sometime in the 70’s.
Kenny Dalgliesh was playing for Celtic, that’s as much as I can remember.
My Da took us to the wall (anyone from the brig will know what this means) rather than pay in. Times were tough:-)
Was anyone else there? Would love to know if I have dreamt this or not!
