Taxpayers do not sponsor lazy gossips

I know what you were thinking; Zenden, like Ljungberg, but older.  We need experience in the squad but with Commons, Ledley, Samaras and McCourt all able to stake a claim for the left midfield position this is the last place we need to bring in a 35-year-old.  Best of luck to the player but I’m pleased he has left Glasgow.

Today’s Sun report that a senior policeman witnessed a crime being committed but instead of doing what he is paid to do, he reported the incident to Uefa.  You have to wonder about the veracity of the crime.  The officer will do well to explain his actions if they amount to anything more than a few lines in a newspaper.

We are all partisan in this city but Justice is blind to such emotions and taxpayers (that’s you and me) do not sponsor lazy gossips.

  2. See all this stooshie about singing ooh ahh up the RA?

Was it commonplace in Glasgow around 1988 to see graffiti saying

    UP THE CELTS

    or

    UP THE RA

    or similar sentiments?

Would someone making their way to Celtic Park/Parkhead at that time be likely to see such graffiti?

  5. Enough has been said about The Green Brigade and for that matter, “The Boys Of The Old Brigade”………the recent odd tactics by the boys in blue has probably got more to do with ‘The Funny Handshake Brigade’……..

I wonder who handles their Communications?

  6. Woke up this morning wondering whether I would feel like I had overreacted to yesterday’s events and my decision to leave Scotland.

    I understand that .

The interesting bit is that UEFA has punished clubs following occasions when supporters of those clubs expressed their extreme ideological beliefs. . – Supporters not the club but the club was punished .

Nothing to do with UEFA but I remember media hysteria when sections of the Livorno support unfurled a huge banner which said —-

ETERNAL HONOUR TO YOU GREAT MAN 21 12 1879

The ” Great Man ” was Joseph Stalin . It was his birthday.

I would hardly consider support of the IRA as being an extreme ideological belief. In that case the French, Norweigan & Dutch resistance or indeed any group that fights against an occupier are / were extremists. Didn’t the British arm and train the mujahideen when they were fighting the Russians. I believe the Russians called the terroists which is exactly what the British call them now – extemist terroists.

Have a wee read of my post at 23:39 last night. It is not an attempt at telling you what to do or what not to do that is your decision.

But it is a statement on how I believe it is, how it should be and how it will be.

I made no comment about the IRA or those who supported it.

Each to their own . Free speech etc.

My comment related to UEFA’s self declared/ self assumed right to police the ideological contexts of football. Politics is everywhere , ideology is everywhere

For the first time in my life I disagree with you, aye, the very first time. You usually talk so much sense and your opinions are way up there but the USA, you’re havin’ a laugh are you no?

The Yanks do not know the meaning of the simple word, subtle.

Everywhere they go in the world, if for example they know where a known tyerrorist is, do they, send in the SAS,to take the guy out, or do they drop a hydrogen bomb on the bunker where the guy is and hope they get him, gimme a break.

Don’t even get me started on your president Bush – – – the guy make Trigger out of Fools and horses look like a Mensa star.

Still love your posts, so agree to disagree.

  17. Good 5-0 win for the young Bhoys today, Killie will be pleased they kept the score at 5, the gulf between the teams was massive.

Paul George was superb, fast, has great feet and he has a wee bit of dig about him, another one knocking on the door of first team action.

I agree Paul George worked hard today, they are a fine footballing team to watch

I was reliably told today Celtic 19’s are the top fitba side

    Thought Jackson Irvine was MOTM

Certainly at least 4/5 first team potential in that group

  19. When I go to a football match. I wear one of my many Hoops tops. It does not matter if it is Eintracht or Offenbach or Darmstadt of Germany v Wales. I have worn it to many European Championships, World cups, European cup finals. Uefa cup finals and never had a problem except for the six Ireland games I have attended. Have to be honest though and state that with unbridled passion I have rippedto shreds those Eire fans whom felt it necessary to have a pop at me wearing my Hoops. Scotland does not have a monopoly on ignorant loud mouthed hin ends.

KOJO and PHILVISRETURNS have a great deal in common,IMO.

Both argue from standpoints which are alien to most on here, and know that they will face the flak for it. But they tend to do so in good humour and with intelligence.

It is always good to hear alternative points of view, especially when argued cogently And I have had cause to pull them both up in the past for some of their opinions,so this is no hagiography.

Again,IMO,the site is all the better for our resident right-wing lunatics.

With the greatest respect, obviously, for two fellas who disagree with virtually everything I believe in-but still make me laugh and more importantly……

I have done not bad in Scotland – feels like I have been succesful (every day is a battle mind). I have travelled around a bit and seen how different places work. All have their problems and issues but most are progressing. The most depressing thing about Scotland is that it is being dragged backwards into institutional bigotry dressed up as anti sectariansim. Even worse they know what they are doing.

My gut instinct always screamed against the SNP – always. And I am proven right.

Brogan I read your stuff earlier and it is excellent. I have always fought – I fought against apartheid, I fought for trade unionism, I fought my way out of Drumchapel, I fought against sectarianism, I fought against Thatcherism, the poll tax, I fought against racism in all its guises, I fought my way through disrimination in the workplace and have fought my way to the top of my current profession.

I always fight – but right now I dont see the point in Scotland. Scotland is choosing its way and its choosen the path of discrimination against its minority. It has chosen a path whcih will cause incredible internal strife and dissention and which will allow the real bigots to outlaw us as they deem as offensive. When the majority want to kick a minority (and ever it was thus in tough economic times) you turn to your politicians and your intelligensia for an answer to counter the extremism. But then we find that what passes for our politicians and intelligensia are the bigots themselves. Scotland is structurally mired in this horror and cannot find its way out. I cant help it any more.

Whats more I dont want to help it. Its not worth saving. And whats more life is too short.

Scotland can have its bigotry and its warped sense of sectarianism and offence. For those who cannot move its horrible whats about to happen. The SNP will not only pick on catholics and celtic supporters (we are only first) – they are already intent on attacking every aspect of the working class in Scotland. They have disgracefully frozen the council tax for upteemph years and I know first hand the imact that is having on people in care. Their attacks on alcohol pricing and obesity etc is the opening salvo on an attack on Scotland’s underclass. This isnt designed to improve the lot of these people. In much the same way as the poor had to say a line from the bible before they got their soup the SNP want to criminalise those they dont understand or care about them – to beat them senseless until the so called problem goes away.

I’ve watched all this develop with morbid fascination. The SNP landslide was an unmitigated disaster for Scotland – I guess we are getting what we deserve. All other political parties in Scotland are rudderless and destroyed. Some of this was because of incredibly insidious behaviour by the SNP. The speech by Ian Gray when leaving as leader of the Labour Party was spot on (pity he left it so late). The SNP charachter assisinate anyone who is a threat and I read the astonishing articles in last weeks Sunday Herald “the demonising of Alex Salmond” with incredulity – the writers accusing those fighting back of doing exactly what Salmond has done for years.

There is no fighting back – there is no mechanism to do so.

So I thought it all through and Scotland is welcome to its horrific future.

I can do better elsewhere – its a selfish act I admit.

    But enough is enough.

  23. The Singing Policeman

The policeman didn’t like the song, the words stuck in his throat,

He knew there was nothing illegal, just the singers got on his goat!

So he couldn’t arrest them, he would have to seek another ploy,

Straight up to the Uefa delegate, skipping like some little boy!

The delegate had been enjoying the match, the atmosphere was alive,

Why was this officer bothering him, what was he trying to contrive?

The singing it was political, maybe not to everyone’s taste,

Now he would have to file a report not sure on what it was based?

The policeman kept the whole thing quiet, why give his enemy a clue,

Save in the knowledge that he had done his job, looking after the blue,

Where was he at the cup final, other matches where sectarianism reigned?

He should realise the world is watching, expecting his selective deafness explained!

  24. lionsroars67- Indeed, this looks an even better crop than last year, and a lot to get excited about. No need for Zendens when we have young hungry players desperate to make a name for themselves.

Jackson Irvine very dominating, he could have had 4 or 5 goals, very impressed by him.

Today is the first I have been to Lennoxtown this season- don’t like this watching the game through a fence carry-on, what’s that all about???
