Taxpayers do not sponsor lazy gossips

1055

I know what you were thinking; Zenden, like Ljungberg, but older.  We need experience in the squad but with Commons, Ledley, Samaras and McCourt all able to stake a claim for the left midfield position this is the last place we need to bring in a 35-year-old.  Best of luck to the player but I’m pleased he has left Glasgow.

Today’s Sun report that a senior policeman witnessed a crime being committed but instead of doing what he is paid to do, he reported the incident to Uefa.  You have to wonder about the veracity of the crime.  The officer will do well to explain his actions if they amount to anything more than a few lines in a newspaper.

We are all partisan in this city but Justice is blind to such emotions and taxpayers (that’s you and me) do not sponsor lazy gossips.

So, any decent football on anywhere to wile away a rather dull Sunday?

Celtic’s u-19 side begin the defence of the SFA Youth Cup at home to Kilmarnock today, kick-off 1pm at Lennoxtown.

  2. Good morning all and thanks for yesterday, a very special day for me. Picked Mrs G up from airport with no delays and enjoyed an Indian meal on way home. Thanks again!! :-)

  3. Strathclyde Police made the UEFA delegate aware of “offensive” singing during the encounter. A spokesman for the force said: “We can confirm there were a number of instances during the game of singing offensive songs and inquiries are ongoing to detect the offenders.”

Celtic confirmed they had been asked by UEFA to provide a response to the allegations. The club are understood to have been taken by surprise by the UEFA action, having had no feedback from the police.

A Celtic Park source said: “This is quite unprecedented as no issues were raised to the club during the match and the police didn’t inform us directly about their concerns.”

  6. I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again…

Now is NOT the time for us to be outside our tent pissing into it!

This is in no way an attempt to suppress peoples views; far from it. Every posters opinions are valid (with a few dishonourable exceptions; ‘Truth? You cant handle the truth!) but we have to be more careful, especially these days, due to the impending disaster set to burn down the walls of Scottish football and expose the set up for what it is… an establishment protection racket!

Rangers are going down the stank, for well documented reasons of their own making, and look set to pull down the SFA with it.

It is now printed as fact, no denials from the Whyte or Murray camps, that Rankers throughtout their EBT and tax evasion scams were paying their players using TWO seperate contracts.

One that attracted tax, NI and ENICs contributions albeit at the lowest rate possible and the other that attracted NO TAX, NI OR ENICs AT ALL!

Also, some are still trying to say that its a Murray Group problem forgetting that 3rd party ownership of players is against FIFA, Uefa and SFA rules of registration.

    The questions are …

1 Did the Murray group hold the player registrations to be held liable for the taxes due?

2 Did Rankers provide the relevant contractual information for all players fielded during the period the EBTs were in operation as laid out in the SPL and SFA terms of the membership, licensing and registration rules of both organisations?

3 (if the answer is yes to 2) How could the SFA and SPL view the information provided by Rankers as being fair and equitable with all other SPL clubs, within their own rules and regs and did alarm bells not start ringing?

IMO Rankers have left the SFA and SPL exposed and bewildered. I am sure Regan will be asking himself ‘How the hell was this allowed to happen and for so long?’

Both Rankers and the SFA are staring into the abyss and no length of rescue rope will be long enough to pull them out. On all fronts it is now damage limitation for them AND Scottish Football in general.

As we can see from the latest in a long line of ‘ones as bad as the other’ attempts to equalise US to THEMS!

    a. The Scottish Government

Offensive Behaviour Bill??? Start with Orange marches then we’ll talk! (enough said)

    b. The Scottish Police Federation

Turn a blind eye to persistant and relentless racist, sectarian and defamatory chanting for years rom thems at home AND abroad!!! Do your jobs!!! (I’ll expand on this)

    c. The Scottish Meeja

A shocking campign of demonisation of our Manager (short memories! They want him to go. WAKE UP!)

Institutionalised bias amongst the written and broadcast media.

The Shhhh! mentality of the reporting of Rankers business practices over the years.

Succulent lamb ‘pieces’ in the papers and ridiculing of the support as ‘paranoid’ on radio.

BUT STILL WE WANT TO BASH THE BOARD when they are working in an unabashed campaign to SAVE THE RAAAANJURS!

I’m no lover of PL but he works for Celtic, he IS our CE and IS a Celtic supporter.

UNITE NOW AND DESPATCH OUR ENEMY

The time for division is not now; pissing in your own tent while others watch means you cant blame others for any mess created!

    On point ‘b’ from above.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but we ARE NOT an Irish club playing in Scotland however many of our fellow support wish it were so.

WE ARE a Scottish club, with proud Irish roots, open to all colours, creeds, both sexes and toally non-discriminatory to who it employs or who it allows to support.

Chanting IRA songs, even one, and whilst I dont believe them to be offensive or sectarian they are an open goal for our detractors who WILL PORTRAY any of this type of chanting as ‘offensive’ and ‘illegal’.

Lets just STOP IT for the sake of the Club and its support.

    Morning all

I attended the FAC Debacle yesterday at Whitehill (how ironic is that!) whilst some of you were livin it up in O’Neills (a pub that refuses entry to anyone vaguely wearing green on a regular basis). I was collecting my thoughts yesterday but I think it’s worth offering this up as my observations.

    1. An organised group of young RFC supporters (about 50?) were in place with an agenda being orchestrated by a couple of older huns sitting away from them. I suspect it was the Haghill Young team led by the OO leaders locally. I think their plan was to disrupt and divide. It was largely successful.

    2. To those who walked out. Shame on you. I may be getting old but in the face of hun intimidation you NEVER back down. Most of the bhoys who walked were young. You let down your club and your cause by walking so easily.

    3. Kevin Rooney was the first ‘speaker’ and was neither balanced nor helpful. His view was that free speech was paramount and should not be compromised; ever. He evidenced this by stating that it was absolutely fine for huns to sing the billy boys, famine song et al and he would reserve the right to say and sing anything he wanted. Citing being proud of breaking the silence for the death of the queen mother when we won the league to stop 10 in a row did not help. It was also factually inaccurate since these 2 things didn’t happen at the same game. This played further into the hands of der hun. This contribution effectively lost the entire meeting and it was all downhill from there. Is Kevin just an unreconstructed Trot from the Workers Party?

    4. There was no sense of where this was going and the MINORITY of us left to listen to the remainder of the contributions and the debate (such as there was) were left wondering where this was going at all and what purpose it was supposed to serve? Anyone organising who blogs might want to respond?

    5. There were supporters of other SPL teams present but because it quickly descended into a ‘live songs debate’ with der hun they were frustrated and felt less inclined to offer any further support. Sad!

    6. Eddie Toner spoke passionately, skillfully and well from the audience about the purpose and needs of the legislation, but by that time the meeting resembled shambles. Why was Eddie not on the platform instead of that balloon Rooney?

So FAC…………what next?????????????? There’s legislation to bun and this ain’t cuttin it.

  15. Just a wee question on the tax case. If Rangers have not paid their due taxes because of a failed scam, doesn’t it follow that some of the players who were party to it, will likely have underpaid tax too? Am supposing that this is all “pay related” but maybe not

It was handled very badly. Der hun should merely have been welcomed and (as newer comrades – ha) asked to offer the first contributions by stating what they were going to offer to bring down the legislation. Instead we played right into their hands and the meeting was lost inside the first 5 minutes. Reminded me of a ne’erday game where we were 3 down at Celtic Park before half an hour on the clock.

In all my time on this site that is the most sensible post i have ever read on here and i hope people take note.

    1. Correct media a joke and always will be you are correct they started the ball rolling with our manager.

    2. Correct why is the orange marches still going and no 1 ?’s this.

    3. The huns are going to the wall and all we have been doing for weeks is slating our manager when he needs us most.

    4. We all knew they were waiting in the wings to even this bill up and they have done this now by reporting it to UEFA instead of reporting it to celtic 1st.

    5. If we let this bill go ahead then I’m afraid the games a bogey, there is nothing wrong with the bill that’s in place but they couldn’t get us so they invent this bill.

I will never trust Alex Salmond nor any MSP, the SFA and the government could’ve prevented sectarian abuse in Scotland if they didn’t turn a blind eye years ago.

The thing that amazes me is Gordon Daziel on clyde, he says it’s a results driven business and Neil isn’t getting results.

I don’t want to call for any managers head but as i said it’s a results driven business, now if this isn’t calling for his head then i’ve lost it.

Why would people wan’t a manager out if hes doing that bad hmmm makes you wonder. Surely its not down to Neil being a Northern Irish Catholic after all a caller on clyde last year she blamed catholics schools fault that sectarianism is bad and Mr Daziel agreed and said no there may be something in that panel but hey some of our support called in recently to say Gordon has been the most honest panelist ever ha ha ha i nearly choked on my cornflakes…

The vast bulk of those who left went in the first couple of minutes. It was shortly followed by a range of hand signals from grand master OO to the young foot soldiers at the back which I took to mean that their plan was working.

The reality is that in order to actually DO anything we’d need to sit out the noise and get to the ‘let’s do something’ bit. Unfortunately by that time there was me, 50 huns, the platform (minus Mr McMahon) and about half a dozen others.

  28. pintaguinness – I suppose it hinges on whether HMRC view the payments to players as pre-tax or post-tax earnings.

If pre-tax then the players are liable for the tax, although this would make them self-employed (not employees of rangers) and I’m not sure this is allowed under SFA rules.

If post-tax earnings, and the players were direct employees of the club, then all tax liability remains with the club/employer. This is far more likely.
