So how do you feel about playing a couple of teenagers, Filip Twardzik and debutant Jackson Irvine, in central midfield, but dropping a couple of SPL points? Good, I hope. Welcome to the world of player development.
For a decade or more Celtic produced prodigious youth teams but watched as Dundee United, Hibs, Hearts even Hamilton Accies graduated more effective adult players. Key to this is perhaps ensuring that players are tested at a higher level at key times in their development. In short, if you have not played regular first team football by the time you are 22 there is a good chance you will not fulfil your potential.
There is cost to this development, you’re not going to win all the time, especially when the two teenage central midfielders are surrounded by other young players: Adam Matthews, 20, Tony Watt, 18 and James Forrest, 21. Half time substitute, Victor Wanyama, is still only 21.
I’m looking forward to seeing more teenage kicks in the coming months.

Incidentally, I was talking to a guy in the Parkhead Bowling Club yesterday who knew Templeton as a boy. ” I am told he is a Tim,” said I.
” No way.” he replied. ” He was and is an out and out Hun.”
He then said something that sounded like ” Burnie`s boy” in reference to Templeton. ie He knew Templeton`s father.

David COOPER Templeton was named by his Rangers supporting dad after his footballing idol. I think you can all guess who!
HOWEVER. David COOPER Templeton’s maw was a massive Tim and after she and her man split up, SHE raised Davie Bhoy!
Imagine how unlucky yer man would have been if his Da had been an Aberdeen Supporter and had Idolised Davie Dodds. Instead of his initials being DCT they would have been DDT!

The keeper was shambolic at the first goal, slow down for the second and subbed after 20 mins.
Canny blame the manager for that, but he is rapidly becoming an embarrassment down here.
Idiosyncratic is a kind description of his management technique-witness shipping out STFC POTY Paul Caddis last week.

Spot on with your post!
I really enjoyed yesterday’s game. It was a throw back to years gone by. Watching young players start and come on was a rewarding experience. These guys will hold their own in the SPL. For years we have not had the nerve to blood youngsters in the SPL due to pressure of keeping up with the cheats. One important thing the fans need to remember is, that as young players, their consistency will not be great. This means we really need to encourage the
Bhoys 100%.
For me the most disappointing aspect of yesterday was not the poor first goal or missed chances, but the booing that greeted the final whistle. Hunlike in the extreme!

spot on and before it was the former Asylum For The Blind. guess why the street was named “Castle Street!” – after the place that was there before it was called after the ‘asylum for the blind’! ;-)
Well done all!

why all the commotion about a player that made himself insignificant, can people be looking for a reason to hate, come on lhads, bin it, who cares
I guess the guy was talking nonsense then. He seemed very confident.
JJ
PS I forgot to mention earlier. I thought Paddy was dreadful yesterday. If he is to play in a Celtic team, I can only see him in the middle of the park where is undoubted passing ability can be utilised but I cannot see whom he would replace.

I don’t think it is PART of the royal, but is beside it.

Ha ha, aye and naw, PC67 knows what it is but he’s got an advantage.
Where you at the game yesterday. Was driving down and saw yon poor guy (the jumper). Kind of freaked young Ceiler out. Ten minutes of silence in the car before he turned and asked me “do you think he was dead dad”. Didnt get home till 8 oclock due to that and that big new bridge hold up.
Cheers
P.S. think of a place not too far from where you are. Nae mair clues.

I always stay `till well after the final whistle andI didn`t hear any booing at the end yesterday. From which part of the ground did it emanate?
JJ
seems to me it matters not ..a jot if Templeton was raised a Currant or a Celt
He chose to sign for a 4th division team… one day after scoring a European goal versus Liverpool at Anfield
that just makes him a choob of the highest order
his money won’ t last long…coz you know what they say about a fool and his money ..
well? ……well…..well dontcha ?
