Teenage Matthews excels on Celtic right

1021

The most interesting point to make about Adam Matthews is that, for another month anyway, he is still a teenager.  You and I have seen enough of these games to know that the occasion has a habit of consuming inexperienced youth but Adam patrolled Celtic’s right with remarkable authority last night.  All the more remarkable considering this was his first game back after injury.

Football business for 2011 is finished and new signing, Swedish international right back, Mikael Lustig (25), is now available for selection.  At 6’3” Mikael has previously played in central defence but Neil Lennon insisted the player was primarily recruited as a right back but, despite the rate Celtic right backs pick up injuries, the need appears greater in central defence.  It’s hard to see Adam Matthews losing the right back berth.

Did you happen to read the sky sports news stats on Gareth Bale yesterday?

Said he went something like 24 games playing in a Spurs team that did NOT win..

Also said hed scored 22 goals in last 18 months – and had also failed to score in 3 years prior to that.

Friend of mine said when Redknapp had not long been appointed he had a loan agreed to take him to Southampton..

I know this is not Celtic related – but it shows you what man management and the right manager can do.

I was on the 7.30 am sailing with the midnight boat home. A long day with 7 hours to kill in Glasgow, especially with a young lad in terrible weather.

We got the win which is what we all wanted though.

Yep, Miss Prestonpans just told me it’s on YouTube and you can easily see who they are.

What next from the eejit mob, a robbery in an off sales and video that as well.

    Indeed.

And although our ‘Arry is a bit of a ‘colourful’ character, I think it would be the best thing to happen to English football in 30 years, if an English manager took a talented band of individuals and gelled them into a team capable of winning that league, especially against the likes of Chelsea and Man City, who have thrown billions at winning the league.

Its amazing the effect a manager can have. Take Stuart McCall, Motherwell manager and next game for the huns. Since his first game on 1st January 2011, he has taken points against EVERY league team he has came up against except ONE. The one exception being rangers.

In 37 games (apart from rangers) his motherwell team averages approximately 1 goal for and 1 goal against each game. He has also collected 57 points in those 37 games.

His record in the 3 league games against the huns is

    P3 For 0 Against 14 (over 4.5 goals per game) Points 0

Aye, it’s amazing the affect a manager can have on how his team performs.

  14. SOAL,

Understood mate. BUT if it means there’s a chance of identifying those who trashed the bogs then it’s worth showing – or did the perpetrators all have Laahndin accents innit?

Doubt this is what you are looking for, but it makes me howl, especially as I have a mate who looks and dances just like the guy on the video. Good luck finding the one you want, but watch this anyway.

Thank you very much for Van the Man clip. I love his music and have probably his all CDs. Whenever I hear him Pablophanque comes to my mind. When we were going to Cracow he took all Led Zeppelin, at least 10 Van CDs and Peter Gabriel. Van was most popular in the car.

Now time for sweet revange for that translation from Russian website :-)

That Van Morrison clip is not from Poland. Similar hall but not in Poland. That concert was in 2001 in Warsaw , Sala Kongresowa. Only one performance in my country. Guess who was there with his wife?

Your right mate – what do you do when you have gone 1, 2 or 3 down – throw on striker after striker. Mowbray showed against St Mirren how effective that is.

Its like Terry Butcher – moaning and crying after a man who looked at Samaras and then attemped to elbow him got sent off for the intent more so than the damage he had hoped to inflict; can praise the referee in the immediate aftermath after losing to Rangers who scored following poor referee decisions.

Yesterday reminded me of something, it was almost 12 months ago we played the huns in Ibrox and observed an almost perfect 1 min and 36 secs silence – when the huns insisted there had been a coordinated coughing attack from Celtic fans in all corners of our stand which would have created the theme tune to one of our songs. They just werent sure on which song.

And its us they called paranoid.

    Monday is just as important.

We must win, looking forward to the game, last time there was with bigt Tony in charge and about 500 different formations!!

  20. paul 67 – lustig and mathews are first choice right backs, cha and wilson are off in the summer, if not before, it just made good business to buy lustig when opportunity arrived as they dont arrive often.

    for first time in long time i see a manager looking beyond end of his nose, think its called forward planning it will never catch on;

    2 goalkeepers, 2 right backs, 2 leftbacks, 4 centrebacks, 4 wide midfielders, 4 centre midfirlders, 4 strikers

season 2012-13 will be a more balanced squad of players with several fringe players moving on, it takes a few transfer windows to shape a squad

  21. TET & SOAL,

Just watched the clip on RTC blog. Only one owrd for it…HUNbelievable!!!
