Football reporting tends to follow trends and the Celtic support has been trending since the Barcelona game in November. Juventus have arrived ready to steel themselves against wave after wave of Glasgow sentiment, but Gianluigi Buffon is right, crowds don’t score goals, or win games.

Heard on shortbread last night that the benfica manager (whose team took 4 out of 6 points against us) believes we are capable of reaching as far as the semi-finals of this tournament. High praise indeed! Let’s hope he is right! I’m predicting 1-1 in both legs and for the tie to be decided on pens. Fraser to outshine buffoon and send us to the quarters and Celtic to banish the assumption that we can’t take pens! One can dream.
