That. Was. Incredible.

1667

Just a short blog today.  I found the notes for my speech this morning.  A lot of positive things should have been said about Tony (one of the nicest CQN’ers I’ve met, and I’ve lots of great CQN’ers), Jim (more committed to the welfare of others than he would be comfortable you knowing), and David (combines the cynicism you can only get by spending 30 years in the publishing business with an often incomprehensive enthusiasm and positivity).  Three people who make things happen.

The CQN Golf Committee have organised nine incredibly taxing CQN Charity Opens, which seems to require an addition to stress, as they clearly thrive on it.

I got my timing all wrong when I set the whisky auction to end at noon yesterday as I was otherwise engaged until late afternoon, when things were getting a bit hectic, but with minutes to go, E (abbreviated) stepped in with what was an opening and winning bid of £550.  The money is already with Mary’s Meals.  My thanks to E and to A Ceiler Gonof Rust, who donated the prize.

None of us had any experience at organising this kind of event.  You think all you need is a mic. and a few speakers!  I asked Phil Agnew if he would do the raffle and auction for us.  He ended up supplying what would have been thousands of pounds worth of consultancy, which saw us over the line, wouldn’t take a penny for his trouble and provided a print signed by Henrik Larsson from his daughter.  They are a family with a long-established link to Mary’s Meals.

The quality and sheer volume of donations for auction and raffle overwhelmed us. We made a call that it was probably wise to limit the number of items we put up last night, and hold some for a later date – all will go towards Mary’s Meals. Thanks to everyone who came forward.

These are just the thanks I didn’t get to last night, more to come.

I’ve no idea how much money you raised yet but I am sure the cash is in to build the second and third school kitchens.  Within weeks your buildings will be feeding circa 2700 of the poorest children on the planet.  That.  Is.  Incredible!  Well played CQN.

I’m not going to pester you to read the Magazine or buy the Seville book today, but the MyDonate like to Marys’ Meals……

    I assumed he was playing,mate.

    Only saw the highlights and there was not much defending needed by Celtic so was only really watching it middle to front.

    VVD got my vote on the strength of previous displays this season.

  3. Celtic would end up top half in the epl, I would bet my grandweans lifes on it, given a few extra bobs, who knows where we would end up.

    But to say we we would struggle there, dearie me, and that’s no directed at you timhorton, well it is in a round about way >}

    My mate is a rabid Boro supporter, he watches all our games, and he is of the same opinion as me, we would crush most of the epl.

    This argument has been going on for long enough, the media are winning, but when it comes to the product on the park, who the feck wins, we do……end feckin of.

    It was Doc, I have been making phone calls all day trying to find it. The guy that hired the bus said the driver is responsible for making sure the bus is ready for the next day and he may have it but he can’t contact him for some reason. I know I had it on the bus as I had a photo taken with it on.

    A wee bit more than that, if the truth be known, they have blown round about 70 mill in a couple of years, that includes the share issue, but it was income into the clumpany all the same.

    yes if we had a few bob and spend it wisely, but not with our present squad.

    one thing I have noticed for a good few years is, we don’t look as fit as most euro teams never mind skill level, only mo.

    A fifth column is a group of people who undermine a larger group, such as a nation or a besieged city, from within. The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize openly to assist an external attack. This term is also extended to organized actions by military personnel. Clandestine fifth column activities can involve acts of sabotage, disinformation, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force.

    Amazing what the determination of the wee mhan, powered by love and support can achieve.

    Thanks to Paul and BRTH and WC and all of the willing helpers for a great evening last night.

    It was a pleasure to be in the company of Subterranean and TBB, and their very lovely better halves. Due to last minute call offs Lemonettes III , IV and their Aunty Pauline stepped in at the last minute to make up the numbers . They all were much impressed by a combination of things.

    Aunty Pauline by the ethos of the CQN, the reaching Mary’s Meals and Wee Oscar, the spirit of love and giving and Subs natty specs. She says it’s not her fault she works beside Willie Collum and he’s a nice man when you get to know him

    The Lemonettes were fair taken on with the chanting and in awe of TBB’s obvious worldliness, spiffy dress sense and particularly his footwear.

    Me and the Abbot were too shy to to speak to many regular posters but, for the record, DBBIA is a lot older looking than he types, Left Click is a lot thinner than he types but Curly has a little hair as his typing would lead one to conclude. I can also see why BRTH left the Law. He’s born to be on stage. Jurisprudence’s loss is showbiz’s gain.

    Mas que un club, for sure for sure.

    So many posts today, but for me, this one stood out, many thanks.

    As I said earlier tis all about opinions, there is not a team in the epl outwith the top 5 that could live with us imo, and on a good day, we could take any of them, again imo.

    Manure, even the huns tribute act could take the pitch with them……

    Over the course of a season, who knows, aye they have bigger and better depth in their squads, obviously they do, but in a one of, we are as good as anything the epl can offer up.

    I watched the Rayo Valleo game earlier, the destroyed Almeria, and they did it with a cobbled team again, like the cobbled a team together the past few seasons, they have had to start a team from new for the past few seasons, all on frees, and bosmans,and youth, they are a joy to watch btw, all out attack, anyways, why am I mentioning this, I have no idea, but it seems like a good idea >}

    The talk about the present Celtic side being in the EPL is futile.

    If,and please God it happens,we will be at the top of the tree.

    Make no mistake about it.

    We could fill every ground in England with our own support and could attract any player in the world that the present teams in England can.

    We live in hope..
