Just a short blog today. I found the notes for my speech this morning. A lot of positive things should have been said about Tony (one of the nicest CQN’ers I’ve met, and I’ve lots of great CQN’ers), Jim (more committed to the welfare of others than he would be comfortable you knowing), and David (combines the cynicism you can only get by spending 30 years in the publishing business with an often incomprehensive enthusiasm and positivity). Three people who make things happen.
The CQN Golf Committee have organised nine incredibly taxing CQN Charity Opens, which seems to require an addition to stress, as they clearly thrive on it.
I got my timing all wrong when I set the whisky auction to end at noon yesterday as I was otherwise engaged until late afternoon, when things were getting a bit hectic, but with minutes to go, E (abbreviated) stepped in with what was an opening and winning bid of £550. The money is already with Mary’s Meals. My thanks to E and to A Ceiler Gonof Rust, who donated the prize.
None of us had any experience at organising this kind of event. You think all you need is a mic. and a few speakers! I asked Phil Agnew if he would do the raffle and auction for us. He ended up supplying what would have been thousands of pounds worth of consultancy, which saw us over the line, wouldn’t take a penny for his trouble and provided a print signed by Henrik Larsson from his daughter. They are a family with a long-established link to Mary’s Meals.
The quality and sheer volume of donations for auction and raffle overwhelmed us. We made a call that it was probably wise to limit the number of items we put up last night, and hold some for a later date – all will go towards Mary’s Meals. Thanks to everyone who came forward.
These are just the thanks I didn’t get to last night, more to come.
I’ve no idea how much money you raised yet but I am sure the cash is in to build the second and third school kitchens. Within weeks your buildings will be feeding circa 2700 of the poorest children on the planet. That. Is. Incredible! Well played CQN.
I’m not going to pester you to read the Magazine or buy the Seville book today, but the MyDonate like to Marys’ Meals……

Doc,
What miniatures?
CRC, Jobo and CQN friends. It seems that I missed a special night last night? But it could not have been anything else? Because – this is very special and unique online community, where great friendships have been formed and bonded and so many good deeds have been done by many many good people.
I am proud to be a part of it (albeit a quiet lurker by the Red Sea :) ), proud to have been a Bucketteer and proud when I see so many people doing so much good.
Paul – we thank and salute you sir!
Hail hail

Evening Sticks
Hoop ur well? How is life and are you home any time soon?
HH
CRC
Sipsini – behave, one of him is enough!! :-)
CRC – as it was based on the CQN ten years, I can’t believe big Sutty was in the team ahead of Hooper. Big man was a legend in the period before the CQteN, but the wee man’s scoring stats were tremendous.
Also had THG ahead of FF, both great shot stoppers, but Fraser had kicking issues and still has a problem commanding his area.

Celticrollercoaster: 9 of the First XI, with my other two on the sub list. No disrespect to St. Martin, but folks, he was only in for one of the years …
Not very exclusive of us having a baldy ..follically challenged table. Who was the guy in the wig ?

I picked WGS for that reason, but was clearly outvoted by the other CQNers
I will post the voting per players/manager tomorrow

CRC
CRC/T4/Kingsnake,
I concur with your thoughts.
I was of the understanding that the XI had to be chosen based on their contributions to Celtic during the 10 years of CQN.
hence no Sutty or Mon or even Stan in my XI!
Those sour grapes are catching are they not?
:-)

classic like you i pay little attention to rugby but this is brilliant
well done to all at the diner from all the posts it seems a good night was had by all and as ever the gift of celtic and fans just keeps on giving , take a bow Paul and all the contributors
HailHail
The more that i watch Celtic
the more that i admire GSs achievement
at winning 3 league titles and taking us to the
CL last 16.
A superbly underated manager.
Thanks to paul67 and his able team for what was a memorable night who’d habe thought that 10 years ago? Truely remarkable as MON would say. Had great craic at docs table and I just wanted to say what a great example as a celtic captain Tom Boyd is, nothing was too much trouble for him in terms of autographs, pictures etc and he was great company. Nice to see that the Celtic Captain who stopped TIAR has such a connect and rapport with the fans.
Hi CRC, will be home in July and will defo try to fit in a beer with you. Happy Birthday to your lovely wee gal :)

TTT – were you rough this morning, bud?
T4
CELTICROLLERCOASTER.
Interesting decision on the dream team,as democratically decided.
Those who made the line-up richly deserve to be there, based upon their contribution to Celtic during their stay with us. Legends one and all-with the possible exception of Virgil, who has been chosen,IMO,on potential as he has only been with us a few months.
Those who chose to adhere to the rules of the competition were outvoted by those who didn’t. Contribution to Celtic post-2004 was minimal from some, but that’s by-the-by.
The team chosen,I would fancy to beat most teams they could come up against. We have been blessed.
Well done to all who voted, and to yourself and DOC for the time you took putting it all together.
T4,
surprisingly not mate.
Tired though.
Went home on the ML1/2 bus and ended up going into PF’s brother’s for another couple beers along with PF and Jimbob71.
Came home just after 3…..and stupidly decided that the best thing i could do was to make a post on FB as to how good a night it was at CQTen. Woke up around 4.30 on couch…..

Tony Benn
Another one of my boyhood heroes
who has gone.
One of the best political minds ever
and a true gentleman.
Words cannot do him justice.
Just back in from the dreaded shopping, blootered, Mrs TET asked if I fancied a drink afore we came home, fair play to her, she scooped a fair few as well.
Then I come home to see that Ireland win the 6 nations, Villa beat the london scum, and the bookie is offering me a very decent cash out, but I reckon I will hold the nerve, after all it will only be a euro loss, or a potential 2k gain, sometimes these pre season bets do come in, and I have another as well that is bothering mr bookie, problem is for me, is that I need Barca to win La Liga, and they are no looking too good presently.
Sadly I find they are no deed again, but that will be for another day >}

Don’t tell anyone
But
Doc had Scott McDonald in his dream team as no9
So never listen to any of his footie comments again, by order of HT :-)

A nonentity by the name of Dominic Sandbrook did just that in today’s Daily Mail.
The most disgraceful obit piece since The Herald trashed Hugh Adam.
I won’t link it,it’s that bad.
I hear you enjoyed events last night. Delighted.
See ya in a coupla months.
Witnessed a tremendous counter attacking display from Villa tonight.
Paul Lambert….the Bhoy has got tactical nous in abundance as a manager.
Very young team that blow hot and cold but a match for anyone on their hot days.
Think Paul would do very well in European competition,as a manager,as he did as a player.
Cracking football brain.
Love watching his progress.
The moaning-faced marsupial had no place in a Celtic jersey after 2005.
Said he was a Celtic fan? Professional or not,a Celtic fan would have marginally misjudged each shot.
Our jersey shrunk to fit him. Pity the shorts had to do the opposite.
T3 – 100%
Great what he tells us when pie eyed :-)
Hail Hail
I know picking dream teams, etc is very subjective in its nature……BUT…….
Bhoys……FF a better goalie than Artur Boruc……..Geeza break!!
Rye
I argue with a Villa fan on another blog, he is rabid, and I tell him time and time again that they have wasted squillions on average players, he disny agree, but I reckon the facts stack up in my direction.
If you compare to what we have spent………I reckon we are just below the top handful of the epl presently, and on a good day, could take any of them.
