Just a short blog today. I found the notes for my speech this morning. A lot of positive things should have been said about Tony (one of the nicest CQN’ers I’ve met, and I’ve lots of great CQN’ers), Jim (more committed to the welfare of others than he would be comfortable you knowing), and David (combines the cynicism you can only get by spending 30 years in the publishing business with an often incomprehensive enthusiasm and positivity). Three people who make things happen.
The CQN Golf Committee have organised nine incredibly taxing CQN Charity Opens, which seems to require an addition to stress, as they clearly thrive on it.
I got my timing all wrong when I set the whisky auction to end at noon yesterday as I was otherwise engaged until late afternoon, when things were getting a bit hectic, but with minutes to go, E (abbreviated) stepped in with what was an opening and winning bid of £550. The money is already with Mary’s Meals. My thanks to E and to A Ceiler Gonof Rust, who donated the prize.
None of us had any experience at organising this kind of event. You think all you need is a mic. and a few speakers! I asked Phil Agnew if he would do the raffle and auction for us. He ended up supplying what would have been thousands of pounds worth of consultancy, which saw us over the line, wouldn’t take a penny for his trouble and provided a print signed by Henrik Larsson from his daughter. They are a family with a long-established link to Mary’s Meals.
The quality and sheer volume of donations for auction and raffle overwhelmed us. We made a call that it was probably wise to limit the number of items we put up last night, and hold some for a later date – all will go towards Mary’s Meals. Thanks to everyone who came forward.
These are just the thanks I didn’t get to last night, more to come.
I’ve no idea how much money you raised yet but I am sure the cash is in to build the second and third school kitchens. Within weeks your buildings will be feeding circa 2700 of the poorest children on the planet. That. Is. Incredible! Well played CQN.
I’m not going to pester you to read the Magazine or buy the Seville book today, but the MyDonate like to Marys’ Meals……

Fraser has never let us down. Artur, sadly, did.
I’m glad he is back where he belongs as a top quality keeper, but he was far from that towards the end of his career with us.
Nice dayooooot for ya today wi yer Villa buds. Always good to beat that lot.

Indeed old pal.
Tony Benn will always be my inspiration
to be a better human being.
As for last night we ended up at
the Vogue CSC St Patrick’s night..
VP was last seen necking peroni’s and jaegarbombs
and dancing to ‘i just can’t get enough’.
Embra Mike, you are welcome mhate.
Sipsini, there were miniatures on every table, one each, took a few home, very nice they were too.
For all the punters that were there last night ,well done, get over your hangovers.Takes a day, depending on how old you are.
To all the people slagging off Broony, eat your words.
The best I have seen in years.Absolutely magnificent..Commons got it for his goals, buyt we all know who should have got it.
one each, took a few home, very nice they were too.
Thief
Mrs TET reckons that the Holy Goalie was the biz, I went for big Fraser, he has let us down less than Artur imo.
HH
Cowiebhoy,
haha the joys of listening to a pal who is drunk…..or ate least drunker than you are ;-)
Doc,
Skippy??? hhahaha
HAIL! HAIL!
Token
Not been lurking much last few days so catching up .
Paul , deepest sympathy for your sad loss last week .
Prayers and thoughts for you and your family .
Great hatrick by Kriss last night , hopefully clinch title against
ross county on 29th when am home and can see hoops win another title .
Seems like CQN10 went very well , wish i was there but
St Stivs , if you’re about , thought you were getting tickets ?
Would have been up road pronto if you got them ,
port bhoy splashing out money before event ! there’s a first !
GL2 , if you’re on , any chance of putting cpl tickets away for me for
cqn do in the club in May ? Defo b home by then , much appreciated if you can
Hail Hail………..
I go off to watch a program, spend a bit of time with the kids and get this.
Pals eh!
And yes I picked Skippy. In the last 10years he contributed more than the players who actually made the DT, in the time frame, he was no where near the player of either Hartson or Sutton, but after July 2004 both of their careers were on the wane, Black Sunday!!!!!!
Just an opinion:-)
Never voted in my life and never will.
Abhor party politics and the 99.9% of self serving, talentless people who rely on being involved in the circus to steal a living from all of us.
The other 0.1 % is guys like Anthony Wedgewood Benn….a Giant of a man intellectually and as a human being.
Rest in Peace Sir…….You deserve to.

Jaegerbombs?
Madman, even I don’t touch that stuff! And apparently the afters is a real downer.
No surprise then that he is noticeable by his absence today. He’ll be cream-crackered after the jigging.
Do you think he is KOJO in disguise?
Not the worst pick btw, Paul Telfer got a vote, that’s true.
Tet….,
More inclined to look at what Artur has achieved in his career and still does.
Would be first choice keeper at Celtic even now, in my honest opinion.
DOC. 2141
Ah,so that means GORDON STRACHAN is a CQNer……
I want to express my appreciation to all the fine CQNrs I met last night.
Firstly to 0Hits and his family, whose Sunderland branch all joined in the celebration, and TheboyfromOz at the table with my brother and me. Great company and, if there’s a waistcoat of the night award, 0Hits was a shoe-in.
I know I exchanged words in conversation, at various times, with Burgh Bhoy, Zbyszek, VMhan, Gordon J, Praecepta, MWD, TTTT, The Token Tim, PFAyr, OldTim, BT, Jobo, DBBIA, Malorbhoy, Lennybhoy, Penfold, Doc, paddybhoy, subteranean & partner, Minx, HamiltonTim, Tully57, Winning Gemmell, winning captains, BRTH and Voguepunter, and others whom I may have forgotten (apologies) through the effects of 2 bottles of wine.
I spoke with Paul67 and Martin 42 who behaved with great composure on what must have been a difficult conflicted day.
I got to speak with Steve Reynold’s son who is a great credit to his dad.
Waiting for a taxi, I got a chance for a longer talk with Travellorbhoy and his son, and to LarssonSe7en, all determined to keep the night going when a wimp like me was heading for his bed. Thanks to The Battered Bunnet and Madame Chapeau for arranging the taxi home. Seems we may have got the only SNP voting Rangers fan in Glasgow as our driver.
I got to see some real Celtic legends like Tommy Gemmell, John Hughes, John Fallon, Charlie Gallagher and Tom Boyd.
I got to see and hear from Vanessa Riddle’s folks and wee Oscar’s ma & da. Superhuman folk the lot of them.
I even got to see the back of Neg Anon, but missed the chance of a chat. I trust there will be other chances.
Congrats to all who organised this great night but deep thanks to all the Celtic folk who made it work.

Didn’t do me any harm.
Down ye olde Vogue Bar today for the required curer

Hope you had a great day yesterday!
Gave the bookie too much with too little return. Can’t remember a worse Cheltenham festival for me. Nevermind, working for next 14 days to restore bank balance :)
God bless Tony Benn RIP.
We got the wrong Tony B with Blair!
GORDON64
Brian Ferry, the man who made lounge lizards respectable.
Women were known to remove their clothing at the mere sound of his voice.
I owe him a lot!
Looking to see if we’ve a new member???

Just cos I didn’t wear those lime green boots you chose to forget me, Ha ha. It was a great night with so many faces old and new.
Doc-low blow, trying to deflect your Skippy pick with throwing in a Paul Telfer. Thought you were going to out the CQNer as well? Just away to look and see who it was :-)

Doc, acgr was at our table :)
Kidding aside, the night was all that I could have wished for… Wall to wall tims, all there for a good cause.
How humble does paul 67 come across? Hat doffed to a special bloke and his companions that make this a sacred site.
Tet, wristband on and won’t be coming off.
Reckon a few hunchbacks will clock it tomorrow and mumble under their breath…we all know the words :)
Seriously, every tim should have one…
Mick TT , a pleasure to be in your black Irish company. HH

You know as well as i do that opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one, and the fact we are discussing the merits of a couple of quality keepers is a good thing, ffs, we could be talking about the likes of cammy bell being a keeper >}

What is RTE2 ?
Is it a character in Star Wars ?
Actually Paul Telfer got 2 votes. Not the lowest then.

DELANEYS DUNKY
Like yourself, worst festival ever. Bound to happen. Even in 2003,I turned a profit.
Day itself was magnificent, but I was like a limp rag far too soon. Wed/Thurs multishifts caught up,which was a shame for the people I was with.
Next time I go,I’m taking the Thursday off too. Getting too bloody old to burn both ends and the middle.
sipsini
Which one did the mad mhan give you ?
I hope it was a Tri colour !!!

Was down at Barrowfield today, first time in a few years. Woosh what an absolute dump, can’t believe the state of the facility.
Tet….
Unfortunately for Villa,it was MON who wasted the squillions then threw his dummy oot the pram and flounced away, when ole Randy Learner told him the well was dry.The Holy Grail was 4th place and to be brutally honest he failed.
Paul Lambert (and McLeish to be fair)have suffered from the consequences of MON’s overspending.McLeish being the ex Blues manager made the Villa fans hate him BEFORE he even arrived for his first day at work.his tactics sealed his fate as they were even more anti football than Walter Myth at Everton then Rangers.
Paul Lambert is rebuilding Villa and has them playing some tremendous stuff at times. Most Villa fans love him and can see what he is doing with far less money than MON had.
Celtic current squad is nowhere near even this Villa team’s level but if we ever got into the EPL we would be a bigger club than them.Villa fans realise this too.

Always next year! God willing.
Enjoyed the game last night, esp the second half perfomance of oor midfield. Young Liam- Wow!
Just a quick one to say
It humbles me to see the good that this wee blog has done. The best of humanity is when it gives to the abandoned and the neglected, and this place has done this in spades.
Its a crime that this is required in this day and age, but its been done anyway.
Commiserations to P67 and Martin, I hope you take some solace in the movement you’ve started here

Apologies
Even if you wore the green boots you would not have won the footwear award last night.
TET,
Yip, that’s the one. I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction at work.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried the H&S to get me to take it off :)

I agree till your last para, the first bit of your last para anyways.
You are obviously getting taken in by the bullshit the english media feed you on a daily basis >}
Celtic imo,and it’s only my opinion, would take Villa day in day out.
HH
Lennon n Mc….Mjallby – cheers.
The Iceman was a decent movie, pretty scary that it was based on a true story.
Couple of points….
Ross from Friends has the David Seaman look down to a T.
Wiyona Ryder has certainly aged well – hubba hubba.
Moving on to Sopranos series 6 ep 11…
I think it’s goodnight for Vito.
Thanks again.

In a two leg Euro tie, Celtic would beat Villa on aggregate!
