I don’t know what the commercial value of our summer games against Barcelona, Leicester City and Inter Milan are, but those three games are sure to dwarf the earnings we make from domestic media and prize money for the whole of next season.
TV rights for English Premier League football from next season will average just above £7m per game, that’s for each of the 10 games on the weekly card – Sweet Georgia Brown! The actual value of these varies enormously: Watford v Bournemouth has practically no commercial value, all the real value is added by games between big clubs – even the likes of Newcastle, who are a poor team, but one which many colours of football fans still want to watch.
In a different environment, TV rights for Celtic games would be north of that £7m per game figure (the increased exposure would also geometrically improve commercial rights values). Think what we could do with that kind of money…….. more paper towels in the gents, maybe, the possibilities are limitless!
Our position is far from unique, there are a dozen or so European teams of similar size who have been marginalised from what was once a meritocratic game, so change must (always) remain on our agenda. But for now, we have to make what we can from our role as the Celtic Globetrotters.

I have been flogging a dead horse on this blog to stimulate debate on what to do if we have to go it alone and the need to attract media attention regarding the actual presentation of the case to UEFA and to identity other ways of combating the corruption but guess people have other fish to fry and perhaps bored with the whole matter. I’m saying that I think the negative comments are not about this particular set of pre-season friendlies – I think they are just a symptom of what is now a fundamental distrust in some of our Board brought about by their perceived dealings with the SFA’s lack of governance.

My attitude may be simplistic but so be it. I have been on this planet for 68 years for about 55 of these years I have followed & loved a team playing in Green & White Hoops. When Celtic win I’m happy when they lose I’m sad.
Following Celtic is not my entire life but it is a very important part, I fume at certain things in Scotland and I would love if Celtic were part of a European League. However I accept what I cannot change and regardless of what anyone else on the blog says or does, I will continue to follow Celtic.
My most important criteria is the product on the pitch. At the moment I am deeply concerned by the standard on display. I like Ronny but can’t see any sign of improvement under his command.
I loved the past 4 years and I love that we are on the brink of winning 5 in a row. I believe we can continue our domination for another 5 years but we need a change of Manager.
I don’t like or follow Desmond or the Board but I don’t regard them as Celtic, regardless of what happens behind the scene nothing will stop me from supporting the Team.

Catching up and just read, very carefully, the article on our own Club’s website about ticket allocations for the scottish cup semi final. The decision to completely blank our opponents by not even naming them is very, very welcome. I fully understand that the team playing out of Ibrox call themselves Rangers and qite simply, if that’s their name then any official publication cannot call them amything else. So I think the perfect workaround has been found – don’t call them anything at all, whenver that is possible!
Sincerely hope and pray that this is a sign of things to come, as renewals day nudges ever closer…..

I think they have seriously misjudged the expectations of the support here and having done so have no way out now, but there is a way out send the letter to UEFA about Res 12.
I was talking to an older supporter recently in his 70’s a man I would class as a die hard, we have discussed the corruption in the game for many years, I was taken aback as he is very pro board to hear him say to me if nothing is done about Res 12 he is out wont be back.

P.S. I don’t live abroad. I live in the Country of my birth and in the Country that gave birth to Celtic.
By the way for years I organised trips from here to Celtic Park for a number of years in a totally unpaid capacity and have brought hundreds of Supporters over giving many of them their very first introduction to Celtic.
It’s true I’m getting on a bit now, no longer have a Season Book and only go over a couple of times a year.
But I’ve paid my dues and will take no guff from you about my Celtic credentials.
