Best news of the day? Kris Commons wants to be involved tomorrow against Barcelona. I doubt Kris is anywhere near match fit, so there’s no chance of him starting on Wednesday against Astana, but a 15 minute cameo, when the Astana players’ body clocks are telling them it’s after 2am, would go down a treat.
I’ve always been a bit more ambivalent about Leonel Messi than most. “He’s not hit the levels of Ronaldinho” is my stock comment, and then there’s the dirty little subject. (Tax).
But his media comments ahead of tomorrow’s International Champions Cup game, “I have a Celtic jersey at home. The games against Celtic were special and I want to remember them”, proves there’s substance to the man.
I’ve a Celtic jersey at home too, Leo. A few of us here do.
Former-Rangers former vice-chairman Donald Findlay is to defend Craig Whyte is his forthcoming trial.
Whyte’s urban legend is going to be difficult to shift, but it’s not accurate. We mocked Rangers fans a few years ago, referring to him as “Our Hero” but he never was. He was the bag man for a very dirty job.
How he handled the SFA, Uefa, HMRC and, most crucially, the insolvency court, when he managed to secure the appointment of Duff and Phelps as Rangers administrators was crucial in the continuation of football at Ibrox.
It was Duff and Phelps who gave Newco the right to use the name “Rangers”, after which point Whyte could claim he was passing on “Rangers”. Everyone else mocked this liquidation fantasy at the time. Until liquidation became a reality, that is.
Whyte left Newco relatively safe in the hands of Charles Green, where it would have thrived, if it hadn’t faced a hostile and damaging takeover bid from its first week of life.
Our auction prize, donated by (the pretty fabulous) Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, closes just after 1pm today.
You can win:
2 seats in the directors’ box
Champagne reception
5 course meal in the Walfrid Suite
Fully expenses bar (pre and post-match)
Half time snacks and refreshments
Car Parking
At the game against Kilmarnock on 24 September.
Money raised from the auction will go towards building a school kitchen in Malawi for Mary’s Meals. It it will be the 5th CQN school kitchen.
Our four existing kitchens feed over 2000 primary aged kids every day. School attendance has increased 30% since kitchens were built, as kids attend for their daily meal. This has an impact on health, education and life chances.
You can follow the auction on eBay here. Thank you.
I’m off to Aberdour now for the 12th annual CQN Golf Open. I’ll be the one holding the jackets.
See you then.

Appreciated,mate-but I vowed last week no predictions on score nor team, and no passing on of horsey tips.
I’m a bliddy jinx.
SOUTH OF TUNIS
Shame.
My wife had asked if you had made it – she’s jealous that I went to see him in London the same night she took the kids to see Mac deMarco. Although she enjoyed that gig, she felt the demographic pain you do when you realise you are the collective age of almost the rest of the audience
Good afternoon, good healthy debate going on I see, which is nice..
I have just “Karchered” 60 sq metres of patio, the first hour done in heavy rain, it now looks good. Treating myself to a nice cigar and pint of ginger ale as my reward, staying off the sauce for a wee while just now.
Looking forward to tonight’s game and hope we put on a show as the rain threatens again. Just waiting on the back pain to kick in.
HH
Still wanting Kris Commons in the team despite 2 years of chronic displays and doesn’t rate Messi. Wow, think my days of reading CQN are over the guy is obviously clueless about actual football. Should start a tax law blog.
I am in Madrid for the weekend and I just got a tip for Manolito De Madrid in the 420 at Goodwood.
It’s a big price. Be rude not to back it.
PS. …seriously scorchhio here
Kris Commons scored 30 the season before last…….buzzzzzz
WITS
Was there a couple of weeks back. Good bar called Fategas Del Querer in Sol area. Great value for money food but decent tapas if you just want a pint.
Shitake mushrooms is enough for two people.

Any horse tipsters in… any tips for Hamilton?
Bada bing, commons scored 30 three seasons ago not the one before last

Had a fantastic day yesterday at 12th CQN Golf Day in Aberdour, some good craic amongst some fantastic Ghuys. Thanks to Taggsybhoy, Blantyrekev for organising another great day.
Also thanks to Marspapa for getting me there and back.
So Mrs. LB had to have two new Tyres, arranged to have them fitted at paddybhoy1888’s place with a discount. Then at the CQN Golf Day Jobo goes and wins a £400 voucher for paddybhoy1888’s place, donated by paddybhoy. Jobo couldn’t use the voucher, queue a deal. Jobo kindly gave the voucher to me for Mrs. LB , £100 to be donated to the charity of Jobo’s choosing. Thank you Paddybhoy1888 and to Jobo.
Keep the Faith!

Seen a few Bhoys earlier chatting about the Burnley trip, jogged a few memories for me, guys throwing darts guys ripping up metal railings (spears), thank f I was behind the goals. Lost a few 50p pieces right enough when the Burnley crew came onto the park and tried to goad us into a scrape. (A wiz only a wean so shut up).
Was so f’n disappointed when we never beat them at home. Still good luck to them today and ffs dont invade the park or it wont be 50ps you need to worry about.
O G RAFFERTY

My Big Sis is still raging f.rom the abuse she got at a dinner party when she announced she was really looking forward to a Jimmy Webb gig in London.Taste lapse of the century kind of thing.

Jamie Lindsay scores 8 minutes into his first start for Morton on loan. Just one of the quality players trying to get into our first team.

Paul McGowan does the same after 20 mins for Dundee.
An Tearmann.
I hope you are well. Update on L.D. for you.
He’s now fit again, starting pre season training a couple of week late.
The manager wants to see him play before considering whether or not to allow, out on loan for the season. At this moment that would be L.D.s preference.
Greatly enjoyable day and evening in the company of some fine CQNers at Aberdour yesterday.
Thanks to Taggsy, Kev and John for the spade work that goes on behind the scenes to put the show on, to Eurochamps for his company, and to the cast of posters and lurkers who played their part in a great event.
Well done to Gerry for the win and BJ for the lowest round.
The clubs are now safely back in the cupboard. I’ll look them out agan next year.

Just tuned in the hunskelping game, who’s the two commentators, is that a wind up, they’ve been hacked by Burnistoun:))))
Wish Scottish football had listened to all knowing Warburton and not interfered with his pre season plans

To Burnley apparently Barton and
Kramjcaer don’t look as good as they did against East Stirling
