I see a justification for yesterday’s vote has been issued. The chairman of one club spoke to several of my contacts in the media with a completely different version, using both the F word and the C word.
Apparently he believes several SPL clubs are being led by the C word – Celtic. Or to be more precise, “F***ing Celtic”, a name reserved for use by a specific demographic. All off the record, of course, but incredibly indiscrete, betraying his world view.
If that’s how you feel, man up and say so publicly. Tell us who you think is really bringing Scottish football to its knees, I am sure everyone will agree this is a time for frankness.

Maybe Gilmour reckons he will pick up a few disillusioned Sevco fans?
They did just that in the 80’s, as did a lot of junior clubs like Pollok.
So who will be the first journo to ask Gilmour why Chuckles turned up at a recent game, resplendent in St Mirren tie…………….

I don’t believe that there will be any progress in Scottish football until the charade operating from Ibrox is fully dealt with.
How this will be achieved, I don’t know, as there does not appear to be the will within the football Establishment to confront all the issues in a fair and open manner.
Until the dust finally settles over Sevco /Newco, there will always be mistrust of the motives behind any moves.
The problem lies soley with the SFA and as long as the present incumbants are in office, then nothing will change.
The 11-1 voting ratio is, in any normal situation, wrong.
However, Scottish football is not a normal situation, The commercial scale of operations between Celtic and the other clubs is disproportionate.
Therefore their business models are different.
It is correct that clubs should have an equal say in matters concerning their interests.
However, Celtic should also have a way of protecting their interests, which may not be the same.
What is the solution? Compromise was booted out yesterday.
My solution is that the SFA should facilitate removing Celtic from the Scottish game, to a League on a par with their turnover and potential.
That would leave the balance of Scottish clubs on a par, each having a fair chance of competing equitably with each other.
Again, the remedy lies with the SFA!
Has anyone seen any evidence to indicate that a 10, 12, 16 or 200 team league would make the slightest bit of difference to anything? To me, it looks like shuffling of deckchairs on the Titantic.

Gilmour’s statement is a symptom of how IMO most clubs and chairmen would think of Celtic.
Most of them tolerate us because of the financial clout of the green pound and the fact that we prop them up financially.
Most of them have a natural default position of siding with first Oldco and now Newco.
I would exempt Stuart Milne and Stephen Thomson from this.
These have been the rules from day 1 in this great wee country of ours.
Make no mistake Chuck comes calling and they fall at his feet.
Hell mend them and to hell with Scottish Football.
