The Men who sold the Jerseys, Geordie-hostility-feeder

889

Congratulations to Mark Daly and the BBC production team behind The Men who sold the Jerseys, who received the award from the Royal Television Society for Best regions current affairs and news event for their documentary into the goings-on in the years before Rangers descended into liquidation.  They won against Grananda’s Hillsborough – The Truth At Last, which centred on a hugely important human and political story, which illustrates the standard of achievement.

Television journalist of the year

Congratulations also to Alex Thomson, of Chanel 4 News, “one of the UK’s leading correspondents. With a portfolio of coverage from Syria to door stepping Kelvin Mackenzie over Hillsborough, to Glasgow Rangers, he displays great range and versatility with a knack for finding strong angles and compelling stories. He brings real authority and storytelling skills to whatever he covers.”

Thomson is a game changer.  Never has a UK journalist had so many people wanting him to stop asking questions, including many in his own industry.  Fortunately he appears to be some kind of Geordie-hostility-feeder.

Good journalism is important. Well done to the winners and those in their support teams.

I mind reading somewhere that the deadybears had a timeline to clear footballing debts.

Also they claim they are owed £2 million from the sfa,spl and others.

The link being clear the debts or you forfeit what is owed to yous.

The English for all their alleged faults do not seem to have a problem with issues like Catholic schools

I would also be surprised to hear that ethnic minorities that you quote get such a favourable time here

I also think that given Scotland’s long history of anti Catholism it would be incredibly naive

or stupid to enter in to an independent Scotland hoping that somehow things might get sorted in the future

By whom – people like the current SNP government which passed the legislation now being used to target the Green Brigade?

  3. In light of the current post regarding quality investigative journalism, intuitive answer seeking and in general prize winning “I won’t take no for an answer until I find out the truth” fourth estate attitudes I thought I’d just copy a post my pal sent me from follow follow to illustrate how we might now be up against it now that them lot have organised themselves so admirably….

    Sunday mail judge

Guys last week I contacted the Sunday mail The Judge due to the fact that the regulatory boards in Scotland were moving the goalposts mid season which would render this season meaningless should this be passed and be put in place for the new season coming up.Today I received a reply.

    Dear Sir

Thank you for your e mail.

I appreciate your frustration, but your best course of action in the first instance,is to set your complaint out in writing to the Scottish Football Association

    They can be reached at:

    The Scottish Football Association Limited

    Hampden Park

    Good Luck with it

    Yours sincerely

    The Judge.

I will be following the advice of the judge and will send a recorded delivery letter of my complaint to them.I would ask as many followers of Follow Follow do the same and pass on this advice to as many supporters as possible.I will await a reply and update everyone should my complaint be acknowledged.Once this has been received and if the complaint is not resolved satisfactorily I will then get back in touch with the judge. 5. The offensive behaviour at Football with the add on of threatening communications bill, means I will not give the SNP any votes now or in the future, they have also created a national police force which retain the old ranks but behaves quite differently as witnessed by the Green brigade, more like the CRS in France, I dont trust them one bit.

  6. pggtips2 @19:59 the British left have one economic tenet. Capitalism is bad.

To express an interest in improving the lot of those around you, your countrymen, is decried as nationalism.

I do very much agree that Scotland can build its own future. A better future at that.

  7. croppybhoy what does a fan wing of celtic have to do with a religion?

excessive behaviour by authorities occur anywhere and everywhere the police are handed sufficient powers to enact such behaviour, in fact even when they don’t have the power they cross the boundary on occasions, such behaviour isn’t restricted to scotland

in fact such behaviour is more commonplace in a 3rd world country, something that parts of glasgow have been reduced to despite having oil

scotland is probably the only country in the world to become poorer from the moment oil was discovered, factories that could have been protected were privatised, people who otherwise would have had long term full time employment sacrificed for part-time, short term employment.

regarding catholic schools in glasgow 1/3rd of school leavers, catholic or non-denominational leave without a qualification of any kind, not surprising that people who only concern themselves with one religion above another always, always and thrice always, singularly fail to mention such a fundamental fact.

you must be happy to see both catholics and protestant kids from glasgow fail to reach what they could to satisfy your own bigoted mind.

  9. For all those debating Scotland’s future the result of the Glasgow Uni referendum debate voted against independence

    GUST ‏@gusttv

RESULTS: 2589 votes cast. 967-YES, 1614-NO. First mock referendum, #GUindyref votes to stay in the union by nearly a 2:1 ratio. #indyref #GU

My daughters Uni lecture class had a rough straw poll and out 85 students only 3 voted for Independence, but they are Accountancy students they know not to take a chance with their future

A vote for independence you would have to be bonkers to take that chance with our economy.

surely alex must realise hes dealing with

  12. Lurked here fer years, like Nosferatu, got the gist of the place and have been posting for over a year now, I think?

Time being relative, an aw that.

HH! Zybszek. Hope all is is good with you.

  13. croppybhoy

    How do you know that?

There has never been a Catholic PM in the UK for 300 years. I doubt it will change any time soon.

A Scottish PM? Who knows. We can but try, or do you enjoy the status quo as well?

  14. dessybhoy – what’s the one thing we’re hearing a lot about the GB arrests? It’s that they either don’t get to court or that they’re thrown out. A horrible, horrible experience for those involved but one I think will lead to the laws being ditched as inneffectual.

You know what’s disappearing down south away from our devolved wee parliament? The NHS. It won’t be long before a trip to the NHS Dr is a bit like a trip to your NHS dentist. Expensive.

  15. croppybhoy @21:15 do you know how state funded Catholic schools came into being in Scotland?

Do you know that Alex Salmond unequivocally endorsed the their existence 2 years ago?

Or are you only interested in scare stories?

  16. tommytwiststommyturns on

Doc – don’t FFS, he’ll start on about the private sector taking money out of his public sector pocket!! You know, the one that pays for at least 5 holidays a year….! :-)

  17. We can still make the quarter finals if Celtic go out with the words of Bobby Lennox ringing in their ears.

He said to his nervous teammate Jimmy Johnstone “Don’t worry Jimmy. We’ll just go oot there ‘n set about them.”

  18. listen ya pair of follically challenged private sector hawks, any more and the bold BT will be summoned from his lurking to give you both a cyber slapping
