The Patrick and Leigh Show

782

Whenever Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts were on the ball last night, Lincoln Red Imps sensed danger. Both could control instantly, control with little space and disorientate defenders. Leigh and Patrick aside, the rest had an excellent first half. Passing was crisp, accurate and fast.

The shape of the team, with variously Lustig, Brown, Tierney and Shevchenko operating in a moveable back three, allowed players to find space between Red Imps’ 5-4-1.

These games are not about impressing anyone, they are about getting into the next round, but the tie was over by halftime, allowing Celtic to step the pace down, and Red Imps to show that they were more than they appeared to be in the first half.

Stiffer tests lie ahead, when more will need to perform at the levels of Patrick and Leigh.

Have a great time bonding the best way father and son can-watching Celtic!

  4. Just read a Hun on Twitter complaining that, having fought their way back (sic) through the lower leagues to the top division, it is an “absolute disgrace that we should start the new season playing teams like Annan and East Stirling”.

    Delusions of grandeur or what?

Delusions of adequacy-and a short memory.

The League Cup sections was the traditional pipe-opener to the season back in the day.

Indeed,I recall beating some diddy deid team twice on their own patch as our stadium wasn’t ready.

I wonder what became of them.

Article today on Scotsman site interviewing the Karagandy boss who reckons we’ve no chance v Astana.

Same paper going with a sacked Hun Durrant telling the world that Celtic are playing catch up with Sevco now.

    Good morning CQN,

Spent an excellent couple of hours doing the stadium tour yesterday and have to say, no matter how long you’ve been a fan or how many games you’ve been to, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

Many highlights along the way finishing with a great quote from my young daughter as we exited the main door, “I liked Celtic before Dad, but I like them even more now I know more about them.”

I think we’ll make it an annual event!

And a third time in the first derby of the season when wee Jinky scored a last minute HEADER in a 3-2 victory.

Three Celtic wins at Ibrox in the space of 4 weeks. The bears were going apeshit in the town after that 3rd defeat. A lot of Tims were attacked, including me, right in the middle of Central Station.

  12. Glendalysoitis,Your spot on ,the media,in this country, always putting out negative stories, regarding Celtic, always looking for someone or somebody to put the boot into our team,I blame the Directors of Celtic Football Club, for not standing up to the media,I have like many on here ,saying its time we chased the whole lot of them, and that includes Sky ,BT Sports,so Celtic bar them, then you will see them ,change there attitudes regarding Celtic, and here is another thing, were did the sevco supporter at the BBC surprise, surprise, saying Celtic won’t be doing any transfer business yesterday, who told him, surely we the Celtic Supporters, should be the first to know what our club are doing in this transfer window, not some hun supporter working in the BBC Sports Department, but I guess if your club continue hireing from Parks of Hamilton,to bus our players, etc, anything is possible

  13. BMCUW –

Obviously I meant first LEAGUE derby of season.

In those days of League Cup sections, the draw always paired first division teams together, so we were guaranteed 4 first and 4 second division clubs in the quarter finals.

  14. Wednesday 1-1 1-2 I don’t see any problems, won’t be easy but if we have to progress then it will get harder obviously, don’t let the MSM YouTube put you in a panic, this mobs shit ain’t that hot, IMO.

  15. The media in every country are bias for what ever reason, you can’t keep banning them from Celtic Park because they have an opinion, telling lies yes by all means ban them, but not for having opinions, start by not buying the papers.

  16. Timbhoy3 –

You can’t start banning the media just because they write negative stories about Celtic. You can take them to task for telling downright lies, and Celtic have sued, or got a retraction by threatening to sue, several times in the past.

But you can’t do anything about stories like the interview with the Karagandy manager. Banning them for things like that would be crazy as we would look petty and stupid.

But don’t let that put you off finding any old rubbish to blame the board for.

They are pushing their luck because Celtic don’t push back.

True, the had a…what’s the opposite of a soft spot? for Lenny.

When I was at uni I worked in a pub at the weekend and had the misfortune of having to work through a few OF games (back in Lennon’s playing days). It was traditionally a Rangers pub although officially “mixed” when I worked there. I have never seen people get so apoplectic at a TV screen as when Lenny appeared on screen. It’s hard to fathom that level hate coming out of adults.

Of course, this is no surprise to anyone here, Lennon was treated disgracefully in this country but has been brave enough to come back for more. Hopefully he will guide Hibs up to the SPL this season and then maybe we will see some Zombies bursting blood vessells at a TV again…

  21. No wonder, the Scotsman article is 80 percent made up story.

Kumykov did not speak to them.

Kumykov words were taken from the Kazakhstani newspaper and twisted. He did say that Celtic is big club but not the same team who beat Barcelona. He did not say he expects Astana to beat Celtic. You will not find disrespect to Celtic there in that short interview.

Writing positive puff pieces in the North Brit did hee haw for Hearts or Hibernian.

Any player worth any sense of themselves would grab any and every bit of motivation going.

Ah no exactly convinced Messi or Ronaldo is sitting about wetting themselves wondering what some utter nonentity in the BBC or the North Brit has to say.

When the UK meeja slagged off Messi for no scoring in the Champions League against an English team he responded by bagging 4 in one game.

    Ibrahimovic did the same :)

That’s what motivation is, if our players don’t have it, it’s their own fault nobody elses, not even the North Brit’s, however much I personally would wish to blame for all of societies evils. :)
