The truth about St Johnstone and Inverness

880

St Johnstone have been a managerial proving ground in recent seasons.  Owen Coyle did a great deal of good work without achieving promotion to the SPL, but his two years there managed to sufficiently impress Burnley that they tempted him south.  The people of Burnley were probably as surprised as the rest of us when Own led them to the FA Premier League but five months into the season he jumped ship to Bolton Wanderers.

Coyle kept Bolton up in 2010 and again in 2011 but they slipped from the league last summer.  Poor form in the Championship soon turned sentiment against the manger and he was relieved of his duties in October.

Derek McInnes followed Coyle at St Johnstone and brought them into the SPL in his first full season but 15 months ago, after being touted for several jobs in England, he left for Bristol City, who, bottom of the Championship, sacked him today.

Steve Lomas is St Johnstone’s current manager and the latest to impress clubs south of the border offering larger pay-packets.  He would be foolish to accept a job from a struggling club who have sacked their manager mid-season.  As we have said several times before, managers receive a great deal of credit or blame but the success of a football club is infinitely more dependent on the entire structure of the club.

St Johnstone’s structure is just fine.  The same is true of Inverness, where Terry Butcher decided to stay this week, as well as Ross County and Motherwell.  The city clubs, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee United and Dundee all churn through seasons as compulsive underachievers.  If they were able to do something about this fact our league would be the envy of most.

Too true. Decisions by referees in the EPL are often influenced by the nationality of the offender. Not that the imbeciles in the studio will notice……

  4. For the fortunes spent in the EPL and unbelievable monies paid by Sky to them and the astronomical ticket prices charged to the punter , I think the quality on offer is not great.Vastly overrated as evidenced in Uefa team of the year. Not 1 EPL player.

  12. Tom English is as much of a fraud as Keith Jackson IMHO.

Pretending the issue of whether “Rangers” exist or not is not some esoteric issue, it is fundamental to the nature and degree of corruption evident in the upper echelons of the Scottish game.

And finding out, and recording, that truth is not difficult. A wee read of football rules, Company House records, a phone call to UEFA, and the application of a little logic, and there you have it.

And the sad fact is, no journalists in Scotland’s MSM have the cojones to do that.

  13. Subject: WHAT WAS MI6 TEAM DOING IN PARIS THE NIGHT PRINCESS DIANA DIED?

RUSSIAN intelligence agents in France had become suspicious of the sudden arrival of three senior MI6 officers in Paris before Princess Diana’s death, a new book claims.

Author Gennady Sokolov argues that she was killed in “a distinctly English murder” contracted out by the British spies.

In the book, to be published in Moscow next year, he will say the most likely scenario is that a microchip was planted in her car enabling its steering and brakes to be disabled on a signal from an operative who joined the chasing paparazzi.

He claims: “There will never be documents about it. Never. Those responsible must all have been liquidated. The traces have also gone. Some of the witnesses disappeared in the strangest manner.”

Sokolov, who has many contacts in the Russian secret services, said the MI6 officers had arrived and stayed incognito. “Normally when players of such rank are in the country the host intelligence services are aware about it. Here DST (French counter intelligence) had no idea.

“Our people were following them. After all, they were leading faces of British intelligence. Whatever people say about our guys from Yasenevo (headquarters of Russian foreign intelligence, the SVR) they know their rivals very well.”

Sokolov claimed he had met Russian operatives who were involved in seeking to establish the role of the senior British agents in France.

The presence of MI6 figures was known to the Scotland Yard inquiry into Diana’s death headed by former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens.

There will never be documents about it. Never

    Author Gennady Sokolov

An inquest returned a verdict of unlawful killing, blaming the drunken driving of Ritz hotel security boss Henri Paul and pursuing paparazzi photographers for the fatal crash in the Alma tunnel in August, 1997.

The security services have always denied any involvement in the Princess’s death.

Sokolov’s claims echo some of the views of Mohamed Al Fayed, whose son Dodi, Diana’s lover, also died in the crash. The author’s dossier on the Princess’s death was passed to the former Harrods owner before the inquest, though he never had any contact with the tycoon, he said.

In an article in the Komsoloskaya Pravda newspaper, Sokolov said he had identified “at least three dozen absurdities” which point to foul play and a sophisticated cover-up.

“Diana became a real threat to the Windsors,” he said. “There was a strong rumour she was pregnant and I think that it was not a coincidence that her body was mummified an hour before it was sent to London. After that it would be impossible to identify if she was pregnant.”

  19. Agreement on transfer of membership

    Friday, 27 July 2012

Joint statement on behalf of The Scottish FA, The Scottish Premier League, The Scottish Football League and Sevco Scotland Ltd.

We are pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on all outstanding points relating to the transfer of the Scottish FA membership between Rangers FC (In Administration), and Sevco Scotland Ltd, who will be the new owners of The Rangers Football Club.

A conditional membership will be issued to Sevco Scotland Ltd today, allowing Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup tie against Brechin City to go ahead.

Following the completion of all legal documentation, the Scottish Premier League will conduct the formal transfer of the league share between RFC (IA) and Dundee FC on no later than Friday 3rd August 2012. At this point, the transfer of Scottish FA membership will be complete.

    Key points:

    – The Scottish FA has received all necessary information and documentation from Sevco Scotland Ltd, including details of the company structure, shareholders, financial projections and business plan.

    – Sevco Scotland Ltd has agreed to accept all conditions relating to RFC (IA)’s charges of bringing the game into disrepute, namely the 12-month transfer embargo, beginning at 0.01a.m on 1st September 2012, and payment of all outstanding fines and costs.

    – Sevco Scotland Ltd has agreed to settle all outstanding football debts to other members of the Scottish FA plus clubs under the jurisdiction of other Football Associations.

    – The Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League have reached agreement on the purchase of a package of broadcasting rights which will allow the former to include The Rangers FC matches in contracts with broadcast partners.

    – The Scottish Premier League has reserved its position in relation to the on-going investigation into EBTs.

Stewart Regan, Chief Executive of the Scottish FA: “We are pleased for everyone involved in this process, and indeed the whole of Scottish football, that a conclusion has been reached.

“There were a number of complex and challenging issues involved but, primarily, the Scottish FA had to be satisfied that the new owners of Rangers would operate in the best interests of the club, its fans and Scottish football in general.

“We have reached agreement on all terms and conditions attached to the transfer of membership and are able to grant conditional membership, ahead of the formal transfer of the SPL share a week today. This will allow the season to kick-off as planned this weekend and I am sure there will be many who will join me in welcoming the start of the new football season in Scotland.

“This has been a difficult period for Scottish football, but with this agreement now in place, and with the new season upon us, it is essential that we all focus our energies on football once again. In the months ahead, the Scottish FA will resume discussions on the subject of league reconstruction. We remain committed to this process in order to re-energise the national game and will work closely with the SPL, SFL and all other relevant affiliated bodies to provide a dynamic product appealing to our supporters.”

Charles Green, Chief Executive of The Rangers Football Club, said “The agreement signed today allows Rangers to be granted membership by the SFA and finally enables the Club to move forward.

“The Board, the Manager and senior executives have been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to secure the future of the Club and today is the start of that process.

“The Board has had to take some very difficult decisions to gain SFA membership, including accepting the delayed transfer ban and paying outstanding financial penalties.  But we are now able to get back to playing football and plan for the new season, starting this Sunday with our match against Brechin.

“There remains, however, an outstanding issue with the SPL regarding EBTs.  As we have proved in the last couple of months we will stand up to any challenges that face Rangers and will continue to fight for the Club’s best interests.”

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the SPL: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the parties concerned. Discussions will now continue with our broadcast partners and we expect to be in a position to make a further announcement next week on broadcasting rights and the on-going EBT investigation.”

Jim Ballantyne, President of the SFL: “Current events have thrown up some serious challenges to Scottish football and the SFL has played its part in trying to navigate through to a solution in difficult circumstances.

“I am now looking forward to doing what we are actually here to do. To play football.”

  22. All,

I know this is completely off topic however I was hoping to compare some experience with you all before I try and do something.

My daughter is in 3rd year in Secondary. She’s doing quite well and I think the school she goes to is pretty good. I’ve had a few run ins with the council and with the Scottish Government about the cirriculum for excellence (which my daughter is the first to go through). Its all a bit of a shambles but to be fair to the school they are doing their best.

Anyway the problem is much more fundamental than that. My daughter has just shown me her maths textbook which is falling to bits – no front cover, missing pages etc. The school say they cant afford to buy new books because of the cuts in spending. The book is a complete disaster – quite frankly I havent seen anything like it. She cant use it.

Have any of you experienced anything like this? Is it widespread?

Apologies again for the off topic question.

    NA

  23. NegAnon2

No experience myself but a woman at work says similar about her kid’s school (secondary, in Edinburgh), they don’t get text books most of time, it’s mainly photocopies of the textbooks. Again down to lack of funds.

  24. Are sevco a new club?

I May have missed something but i am sure the whole ‘liquidation’ thing is at the heart of this mystery…….

Hmmm liqudate in my dictionary is defined as ‘dissolve a company and share it’s assets out with creditors. Wipe out or kill.’

They only liquidated a holding company? The assets of that company were a football stadium, football training facility, contents of both. Sounds like a fitba club to me.

You know people who worked for a company that was bought out, changed hands, or ‘tuped’ to a new company under liquidation? Have you ever heard any of them saying they still work for the same organisation? Same place maybe but they are aware of changes and refer to new company name etc. defying all common practice and a thing called reality sevco seem to have found a way to achieve business immortality ….

Nothing has changed – if they want to be rangers as was then they are gonna have to sell up their assets (again) and pay their debts. If they don’t want to do that then they remain dead. Morally, factually, physically dead.
