Dundee have played 12 games since losing 6-0 at Celtic Park in September, scoring in all but one of those occasions. Only Celtic and Aberdeen have kept them out in 21 games this season. They lost five last time out to Ross County (scoring twice), but scored four against Accies the week before. Season tickets at Dens are excellent value for money. There will be goals when Celtic visit tomorrow.
Kane Hemmings scored five of their six goals against County and Accies. He’s a direct player who makes runs from deep into space but a large portion of his goals come as a consequence of defensive errors. In short, he appears to run at defenders in anticipation of them making a mistake, not a wholly unproductive strategy for strikers playing against Celtic this season.
Ronny Deila will be keen Celtic build on the positives from Tynecastle, although the on-going absence of Leigh Griffiths will be a concern. I reckon we would have seen Carlton Cole at some point against Hearts if it were not for the plethora of injuries which restricted the manager’s options. Hearts had done their homework on Nadir Ciftci, who was well marshalled throughout. He can expect a similar night tomorrow.
Partick Thistle’s role in the title race will come into focus over the next week. They are on an excellent run ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Pittodrie at Saturday’s game at Celtic Park, having won their last four league games. You can win two Premium Seat tickets in the Jock Stein Stand for Saturday’s game, courtesy of Magners, if you answer this question:
Who was the last Partick Thistle manager to win four consecutive top flight games?
Email your answer in the SUBJECT line to celticquicknews@gmail.com before 17:00 tomorrow (30th). My Partick Thistle knowledge is limited, so editors decision if final……
And if you are so minded, having read what you’ve done already for Mary’s Meals in 2015, you can donate a £1 or so towards them here. Many thanks…………

Good Afternoon.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Here are a couple of pieces about the singing at yesterday’s Sevco game, and the various reactions to it.

Well I think anybody who doesn’t see them as a threat is blinded by bias.
The team that they are currently fielding will be greatly improved upon if they are in the SPFL.
They will play to bigger audiences ,with a frenzied support fully behind them.
They will have more money than Aberdeen ,and let’s face it .
We are struggling to shake them off this season.
We have wasted the opportunity of over £80 million of CL income to separate us from them .
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
What £80M? It is clear that to qualify for the CL you need better players each of those years than those we have.
That kind of quality does not come cheap in transfer fees or wages and to attract them to Scotland the wages are even higher.
So there is a cost and risk over 6 qualifying games when team are not up to full match fitness in not qualifying and apart from that actual cost having to be deducted from the £80 there is the potential cost of not qualifying.
I think if some of the risk factors of not qualifying could be removed then the punt taken to reach the CL would be small enough in risk terms to actually take it. Its not the cost of qualifying that deters, its the cost of failing to, so making qualification less risky like a change in the football season (not in Celtic’s control )might help.
Alternatively the prize money for the EL goes up enough to suit clubs in Europe with access to less TV money than others , which is what UEFA have done
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3019496/Champions-League-prize-money-increases-UEFA-hand-Europa-League-big-cash-boost-too.html
and the realistic aim of Celtic (and it is the club who should set the bar not the SMSM) should be EL qualification and to be in the later stages after Christmas.
Now on that basis RD comes out 50/50 in last two seasons but that is not an argument for that to be the policy. The argument should be on the economics of CL money over EL money using correct figures that measure as accurately as possible costs over benefits.
This £80M loss is a rod made for Celtic’s back that ignores a number of factors that render it meaningless as a measure to support a business plan for CL participation.
So why not bloody well bloom where we are planted and enjoy the flowering?
Its getting real hard work to enjoy being a Tim (well here anyway)

Greechan’s article in the Mail sums the media up
Bigots – ‘Atmosphere was brilliant..’ & biggest attendance in scotland from ANY club
& ‘This is what competition is all about’
Or words to the same effect
Scumbag likes his mates
Once again Auldheid tells it as it is. keep up the good work pal.

That Inter team blew the 67 Serie A title by losing to Mantova on the last day of the season.

Enjoy Marrakech. Doubt you need my tuppence-worth on the town, given I took yours in the summer, but if you’re minded to travel out of town, Chez Momo’s out at Ouirgane is recommendable for decent local food and hospitality. Branson’s place out past Imlil for afternoon tea if you need to please the missus following any mischief.
Great article Auldheid, if the right people read it, be a shame if they didn’t.
Auldheid
No thanks!
My expectations have been managed down enough by our PLC board of charlatans for far too long to now have to listen to it from supporters too.
So we are now a El team.
Just why is that Auldheid?
Just why have we failed to qualify against mediocre or in most cases teams who we should be beating to the CL group proper over the last few years?
It must be that sensible policy of underspending on too many squad players with a view to potential hope of a gem to line the ole Peter the Bonus collectors pocket form annually.
The signing policy has been astronmically abomninable. The managerial appointment much the same.
We have been managed very successfully into the position we are in right now but sadly in a few years we will not even be capable of being able to hold a position of frequently qualifying for EL if it keeps falling the way it is falling.
Time our eye was on our ball rather than the burst orange one being puncture repaired on the other side of the city.
MWD
SoT … how ya’ doing pal? Hope you had a great holiday.
I think you are right.. but I also think they had won the previous 4 or 5 scuddetto (scuddeti?) …. and had only been cheated out of the Euro cup the season before by a Real favouring ref; …..
I have checked in the past to see if I could learn what the betting line was …. but wasn’t able to find out. But, I’d wager (see what happens when you sign up for the CQN predictor ..i’m addicted!), Inter were heaving favourites…
but, onto more important matters…. do you need someone to carry your bags in Marrakech? I would happily volunteer … it is on the list of places I have always wanted to go.

Moravcik this question comes up boringly every month, what is the answer then?
Whilst the Ibrox hate mob represent a distasteful and disgraceful element in our bigoted little country – those who loudly condemn them also support the biggest danger and affront to our minority, namely the SNP.
These charlatans SNP45ers, pretend to be sympathetic to the working man to get the votes of the feeble-minded, when any half-baked look into their origins and history would easily expose what these people stand for and have always stood for.
Their alliance with the Church of Scotland that produced the first “the famine’s over it’s time to go home” campaign lies shallow under their guise as the party of the working class – they have NEVER taken any position, or held any policy that was specific to ordinary working people, and NEVER will.
They seek to centralize Scotland and in the unlikely case of independence, all the overwhelming interest groups who advocate Scottish protestant values will infiltrate the SNP to a much greater ‘degree’ than they have in the recent past.
These groups already hold sway in the media and in most established authorities – their move into government, law-making and shaping of Scottish society and indentity will be swift and seamless
The deluded among our kind who see the SNP as some anti-English pals of the IRA are more to be pitied than laughed at.
Moravcik
They’d have to get the money from somewhere, they are skint, and I think bumping the players wages would be a wrong move, Fraser Wishart would be all over them, ahhhhhhhh Hahahahahahaha
Zoomer…
Please nobody respond to that
Just on. Who’s a ‘zoomer’ and what have we not to reply to?!
HT
A `zoomer` is a walking frame for the quick.
I can`t help you on the `don`t reply` question.
JJ
Think you’ll suss it out very quickly HT
And no one will listen, give this article half an hour and RD or PL will get the blame.

Been a while since I thought of the word “Botton”.
Coincidentally, haven’t met Hamilton Tim for donks :¬)

Mb, you are shocked at the suggestion that we are a EL team. Well, that’s our level right now. Realistically,we just don’t have the money to be a CL team consistently at the moment.
To put in perspective, I’ve watched Celtic from the late fifties and then the pinnacle – the very pinnacle – of the supporters’ ambitions was to win a Scottish Cup. By January or before in those earlier year the League was out of the question.

Given DD and PL’s views on THEM and THEIR desirability as competitors, they deserve any blame they get.

JUST TO EVEN THINGS OUT
AND TO GET IT UP US

It is precisely because certain people chose to ignore, rather than confront the bigotry, that it goes on.
You give the huns carte blanch….they will take it.
Id say the PLC bear responsibility for looking the other way for years.
Mind you its a different story if the bigotry directly affects Lord Livingston….then they have something to say.
Strange eh.

We cannot misspend money as we do currently and expect to be a CL team.
As for winning the league in the fifties and early sixties, those expectations were gone well before January.
They generally died a death in late August or early September when we played THEM for the first time in the season.

Last year and the year before PL spoke many times of us competing in elite European competition and that our entire model was based on this and protecting us from any economic downturn
Surely that´s not the Europa League ?
HH
HT just scroll back a few posts – you’ll get it. H H Hebcelt
Are Molde more a CL team than Celtic? If so, then…. If not, then….
Don’t play the man, play the support, leech them dry of emotion, passion, and coin; leave them fractured in a dreamers limbo, in a purgatory of spent cares, and dreams, and hopes, and devotions wasted.
A living supporters HELL.
……….always thought the aforementioned “botton” was spelt
…..like Totten……….
…as in Alex.
Just sayin’.
Ahhhhh got it, thanks folks.

Depends on what you consider to be elite.
Recent posts here indicate that like many other things, our European ambitions have been downsized.

That´s the problem with having Neo Liberals in charge of our club. They believe that their spin will be swallowed as communication unfortunately Paul67 as well. Disciples of Saatchi and Saatchi. In the end it always becomes an exercise in semantics.
Elite European competition for me is last 32 of the CL
