Time for Paddy, Emilio and Kelvin

808

Tomorrow Celtic have a Scottish Cup tie away to Peterhead, currently second bottom of the Third Division.  Peterhead have recorded their only two home wins of the season in the last two weeks, so Celtic’s scouts will have seen them at their best, but the break from league action will allow Neil Lennon to rest players who have been carrying niggling injuries, including James Forrest, whose terrific form could be jeopardised by the stresses of carrying such a prominent responsibility for Celtic.

The game in Peterhead will also give fringe players an opportunity to shine.  I suspect Paddy McCourt is still carrying the can for hitting the post against St Johnstone in August, the day it all started to go wrong.  We’ve missed him.  Emilio Izaguirre and Kelvin Wilson would also benefit from 90 minutes football as the squad reassembles itself, although the game might come too soon for Kris Commons.

News that Beram Kayal’s injury is likely to keep him out of action for four months was sickening.  This is the third serious injury Beram has suffered since joining Celtic 18 months ago.  I read a bit about grade 3 eversion ankle sprains yesterday.  He’ll need the best treatment and recuperation in the days and months to come.

Well as an earlier poster suggested I would happily sign Jon Daly.Proven SPL scorer, knows the SPL and would batter the Huns into submission.

He would be the man for me and we could easily meet the transfer fee.

On that note, safe journey to all our fans going to Peterhead and it’s been a pleasure speaking to you great people tonight.

Goodnight and God Bless all Celtic fans all over the world.

  2. Celtic must act now and take advantage of our location.

5mins from the city centre and a story to be told that few other clubs can boast !

With the regeneration going on around Celtic park surely now is the time for the board to invest in a Celtic village!

I take it our first option on players from here only applies if better offers don’t come first?

Didn’t realise that Christian Benitez went to club America for $10m in may there?

Celtic youngster awarded Player of the Tournament

CELTIC Under-19s’ midfielder Jackson Irvine has been awarded Player of the Tournament at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup in Germany.

Some of the best young players on the continent were on show at the six-a-side event in Stuttgart but some impressive displays from young Celt saw him scoop the accolade.

After starting the competition with the three defeats, the young Hoops finished the competition strongly, with some terrific wins over Stuttgart and the US Under-19s side, securing them seventh position in the final standings.

    Summa

I was pleased to hear them singing but half expected the commentators to reference an EPL team as the source… :-)

  11. On the subject of Rankers Newco and Celtic’s view of their entry back to the SPL, does anyone know what DD’S view is on this?

I am as cynical as RTC in regards to how Celtic as a club will act and until we either see a personal statement from DD or an official board release stating the exact position of the club, i will hold onto IMO healthy and justified scepticism.

There will be many voices at work in the corridors of power in Government, Police, SFA and the 4th estate in regards to a Newco Rankers, i will not underestimate there influence in Scotland, recently Celtic as a club, and even more so our supporters have been subjected to the power these organisations wielded after the so called shame game during which Celtic and its fans had no BLAME, then took all the blame, even UEFA were conned.

John Sutton, John Daly for Celtic,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, sign this standard and our current basement position in European football will continue

Bangura may not be as bad a player as has been stated on here, his brief appearances where during the team performing poorly, i will wait till the player has had a real opportunity before condemning him, as for our Scouting department with help from Larrson???? having signed the wrong player its laughable nonsense

SOS had a post referring to Jackson Irvine having seen this young player he is indeed an excellent prospect

I think ‘our’ position in europe was conditioned the minute PL set foot in the door again!

I think, once the genie comes out of the bottle that, Celtic PLC have colluded with the huns then, it’s at that point that we(Celtic fans) will be gathered at the front door on Kerrydale Street ala 1994 to begin what, imo, will be a new era for ‘our’ club!

    Hail! Hail!

  14. ST JOHNSTONE chairman Steve Brown has warned Rangers that he will not sell Fran Sandaza on the cheap and has told the Ibrox club to stump up £300,000 for the prolific striker.

Sandaza, 27, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has scored 13 goals in 18 games since moving north from Brighton in the summer on a one-year deal.

Rangers are keen on the Spaniard but Brown dismissed reports the Ibrox side had tied-up a lucrative pre-contract agreement with the player.

Brown said: “It’s my understanding Rangers have spoken to Fran but there’s no agreement at present. They are well within their rights [to speak to him] and I have no problem with that.

“We have parties interested in Fran in Scotland and England but there have been no concrete offers from Rangers or anyone else.

“We have offered Fran probably the best deal of any Saints player in recent times but we certainly couldn’t compete with offers of £5,000 a week or more.

“We don’t want to lose him before May. We have targeted a top six place. There are no guarantees in football but his goals could be the difference between the top and bottom six. That would be the starting point for any bid.”

On a different note, 14 years ago today my grandad passed away, took me to my first game at paradise, will never forget it, it’s helped shape who I am! My only real thought about Mo Bangura is why pay so much money (money we seldom spend) for him if he was not going straight into the side. That’s the only thing I can’t understand. Let’s hope we keep a strong spine today but also give fringe players like Bangura, Paddy, Blackman etc some serious game time. If they are not good enough to play today then why keep them! Would avoid putting Izzie on that pitch against hammer throwers looking to make a name for themselves today though!
