Time for Paddy, Emilio and Kelvin

808

Tomorrow Celtic have a Scottish Cup tie away to Peterhead, currently second bottom of the Third Division.  Peterhead have recorded their only two home wins of the season in the last two weeks, so Celtic’s scouts will have seen them at their best, but the break from league action will allow Neil Lennon to rest players who have been carrying niggling injuries, including James Forrest, whose terrific form could be jeopardised by the stresses of carrying such a prominent responsibility for Celtic.

The game in Peterhead will also give fringe players an opportunity to shine.  I suspect Paddy McCourt is still carrying the can for hitting the post against St Johnstone in August, the day it all started to go wrong.  We’ve missed him.  Emilio Izaguirre and Kelvin Wilson would also benefit from 90 minutes football as the squad reassembles itself, although the game might come too soon for Kris Commons.

News that Beram Kayal’s injury is likely to keep him out of action for four months was sickening.  This is the third serious injury Beram has suffered since joining Celtic 18 months ago.  I read a bit about grade 3 eversion ankle sprains yesterday.  He’ll need the best treatment and recuperation in the days and months to come.

From your post you infer that should Celtic under Neil Lennon suffer 3 league defeats thousands of Celtic fans will be at the front door demanding he goes, i disagree, much rumblings no doubt but no crowd at the front door.

It is correct for Celtic to wait to make their stance known on Newco Rankers until after the outcome of the tax case, whether they will ever make a statement is open to question

Now is not a time for division in the support. Let’s concentrate on widening the gap on the huns, everything else will play itself out in time and we can make judgements as and when it happens. Eyes on the prize Bhoys, until anything else happens lets save the teeth gnashing! He who laughs last laughs loudest as they say.

I agree with you re: Lawwell’s bonus but, I don’t think he(Lawwell) makes the key decisions ?

As far as I’m concerned….the problems begin and, end at the top of the house(Dermot Desmond) as per, the drive toward the future ?

    Hail! Hail!

  4. Morning and G’day Celts, if we’re only gonnae buy one decent player this window it should be a proven goalscorer, we have two good uns in Hoops and Stokes, I’m positive there will be injuries given the assaults on our players, injuries or drop off in form means three there’s a third striker required, if we leave it to the last minute we’ll likely miss out.

Buy a striker, we need goals to win the league…. Don’t fail us again Peter.

Nice morning in the NW of engerlund, off out with the dog.

  5. Morning all from gay Paree, cloudy with a distinct posssibility of a bit rain later (6C max).

Hoping for a good display from the likes of Paddy and Emilio today.

However, as always the result is the only thing that matters.

Safe and injury-free passage into the next round is all we need.

    On a totally unrelated matter:

One of these days something is going to happen that will finally cause the arcade penny to drop, and get the Scottish media to open up that big can of serpents that they have been sitting on.

Could the Red Lichties be the unlikely instigators?

    Hail Hail

I believe we laid out £2.5 million for Hooper, Sammy can be a £6 million player on his day as Neil (Samaras was unplayable) has stated, with Stokes being a proven SPL goalscorer, Bangura was not the obvious starter you suggest

I should have worded that better.

If we suffer 2-3 defeats then, the fans would be at the front door but, not neccessarly for NL !

But, I do think that the wolve’s will be at the doos if the board vote-in Newco huns !

Oops, didn’t the Celtic board already vote-in Newco huns by, agreeing the new TV deal ???mmmmm

On radio clyde yesterday we had the 3 stooges Keevins, Guidi and King openly discussing the demise of Rankers with the result of the tax case expected soon, it may be late in the day but they are now discussing Armageddon

I take your point but my point was why spend what little money we had on someone who wasn’t going to be a starter. Why did we not use the 2 mill on a centre half who would start straight away?

Celtic couldn’t be seen to be holding up a much needed cash TV deal for all the SPL clubs.

Rankers will jeopardise the TV deal by not being in existence through financial misdealings

  15. Couple of excellent posts on the RTC blog this morning.

One from Barcabhoy, and one from a poster called Torquemada. Both claim that Celtic will vigorously oppose the parachuting of Newco RFC into the SPL, with Torquemada suggesting individual Dublin-based Celtic shareholders are prepared to sue the SPL for maladministration should this happen…

We signed Blackman 5 or 6 weeks ago on 18 month contract I think. If he’s not good enough for game like this why bother?

True about Izzaguire but he’s a brave lad so I would give him an hour possibly.

Bangura has a knee injury I think :L

Btw that rapid Vienna striker we’re being linked with actually scored against us in the 3-3 draw in Vienna along with jellyfish

As an exiled Tim, I don’t have easy access to RC and certainly haven’t heard it for many years.

I tend to have a daily on-line look at what passes for the “quality” Scottish papers (Scotsman, Herald, …).

From what I can see, they are still sitting on what could be the biggest story in the history of football in Auld Scotia.

Although it’s good to know they are starting to talk about it on RC, personally I would rather see it dealt with responsibly in the written press.

How do you know if Celtic voted for TV deal.

Do you even know what type of vote took place?

Was it the board of the SPL who voted?

Was it a Qualified Resolution requiring 90%?

Was it a Special Qualified Resolution requiring 83%?

Was it an Ordinary Resolution requiring 66%

Or are you just agitating for agitatings sake. There are many issues we can get peed off at re. our PLC but the TV deal is not one of them.

    I disagree.

If there was a Celtic supporter in any positional office within the higher echelons of Celtic park, I know that is a BIG if, then a, non committal opine from CFC would have alerted a world-wide audience to the skull-duggery of Scottish football ?

Furthermore….if there was a Celtic supporter in any of the higher echelons of Celtic park then, after the recent ‘shame-game’, Celtic would have informed the SNP/Government that we had no case to answer re: The government Summit.

I mean, come on….a summit after having 3 players booked ???

There was the chance for Celtic PLC to ’empty’ the SNP/Gov and what have got ourselve’s into……?

Outbid for Sanddancer quel surprise, Bids from Malaga for McCgregor?Should that not be Magaluf? How would Celtic do if we transfered our entire squad to them? Seems as though they like every one of our players.

I see others are alluding to the Bangura deal not being as straight forward as it seemed. What happend here? We certainly need another striker to see us through the second half of the season even just from a body count poont of view.

All this debt that you are demanding, yes demanding, that Celtic take on to get players in of the calibre that would – satisfy – you, all that debt, millions on millions of pounds, how do you intend to pay back your share of that debt? Or are you just going to leave it to others to pay back the debt that you demand?
