Time on the bench gave Hooper space

1040

This season, Gary Hooper has looked well below form of last term; his touch, movement and goals record don’t match up, but he came off the bench on Thursday to score a truly excellent goal.  Controlling a difficult ball in the centre circle, with defenders in close attendance, he picked out Giorgios Samaras before sprinting past his markers and finishing.

The winner against Motherwell was less spectacular but required sharp movement and spatial awareness.

Footballers cannot always play through bad form, sometimes they need a break, even for an hour on the bench, to get a different perspective on how they and the team play.

Despite his return to form I would retain the same 4-2-3-1 formation against Inverness next time out.

Issue 4 of CQN Magazine is out next week, let me know if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Keeping fine now mate thanks, travelling over on the over night ferry tomorrow night then driving up to sunny Glasgow for a week or so :-)

  2. now i may be over simplifying this somewhat but SURELY the current custodians of our fine club MUST be aware that in aiding and abbeting the morally and fiscally bankrupt club that is Ran*ers FC they will be unleashing a backlash from our fans of monumental proportions and that to do so would be folly in the extreme.

Celtic FC may not survive such a crass decision being made

The question to the board is ….. IS IT WORTH IT ?

We can and we will survive whilst they are doing their deserved Porridge. ( They will return in a few short years!!)

Scottish Football will have an opportunity to cleanse and move forward, and maybe just maybe it will give THEMS a chance to reflect and raise their standards to the level ALL other clubs find acceptable.

As a wee bonus we may well lose that O** F**m tag in the process.

  6. Been a busy day, just read Phil’s article and caught the just of the mood on here.

If this turns out to be true, and I have my doubts it is(where Phil got the info, God only knows), I will find another team, as this is not “my” Celtic, the Celtic that was minutes from oblivion and there was no olive branch reached out to us, just drooling fangs of hate waiting to feast on our demise.

slightly flabbergasted at you glibly dismissing the influence of the Scottish refereeing fraternity. Especially recently. Especially after our estimations that we would need to spend 12m more just to keep up with hun illegal shenanigans and that we couldn´t afford to take that path either morally or financially and we were astute not to do so. I thought we (i.e regular CQNérs) had reached a consensus on that. I can recall some of your writings around the time of “Dougie, Dougie”, Hugh Dallas´s removal, The referee strike in particular and the Government summit, the disciplinary committee shenanigans and Calum Murray´s subsequent U turns. I am sure I can add to that list. I can almost recall writings by Che Timavara that definitely left me with the strong impression that Scottish football has been historically rigged in Rangers favour for some time. I as you well know believe that entirely.

It would seem that I may have picked up the wrong end of the stick and so I apologise if you think I am now doubting what you earlier attested too I as always pick up the wrong impression. I think this demonstrates how it is easy to get the wrong impression when reading as opposed to communicating directly. As the famous quote goes the written word can be erased but not the spoken word.

You are of course entitled to your opinion and you are entitled to change it.

I am sticking by my beliefs. That is not to say that you are not just that I got the wrong impression from your writings and often.

  13. It’s hard to discredit Phil because everything he has said has just about been spot on so far with everything else.

This may have been done to create the desired reaction and state what the club could do.

Personally I don’t believe Peter Lawwell would vote for them to get back in easily. The joke about the Jelavic bid allows everyone to see what he thinks of Rangers.

If it does happen the stadium is going to be quiet for a while.

I’m never going to your shop to use your scale.

The balanced concusion would be that Celtic were just as good at blowing the league than the Refs were at rigging it or rangers were at buying it.

If the CSA abandon ship then I think we should get together and start up a Continuity CSA or Real CSA. The struggle continues. We could have a Green and White bedecked steam-roller as our insignia to represent our attempt to level the playing field.

We could probably get seats in the directors box. I bags the one nearest the pie stall.

I think that Sion are UEFA’s stalking horse.

I believe that other clubs are lining up, awaiting the outcome of this case.

I seem to remember reading somewhere recently that, I think, Bayern Munich are set to challenge the status quo within UEFA.

I WILL be corrected, but I think that part of the agreement to abolish the G14 group was that UEFA would take on board some of the thoughts of the disbanded group.

I think a protocol was agreed and was to be revisited in 2014.

The Sion business could be part of the clubs’ strategy to push through further reforms and to weaken UEFA’s power.

If they are stupid enough to go through with it i wouldn’t think there would be 1 celtic fan inside the stadium. there’s faithful through and through but the day our own board sells its soul and shacks up with our enemy (and that’s what they are) then there’s no way back for them and i would like to think every celtic fan would be of the same opinion.
