Having watched previous generations of Celtic teams park the bus at Barcelona I’m not one to criticise Hamilton Accies when they do the same at Celtic Park. They put on an effective defensive performance but although the game got nervy as Celtic defended a one goal lead in the final minutes, Accies were never able to pass the ball well enough to make a genuine attempt at goal.
The only goal of the game came from a deep run by Moussa Dembele, who had dropped behind Tom Rogic, before sprinting forward to collect a pass from the Aussie. The Accies back line were concentrating on catching Leigh Griffiths offside but didn’t have the response necessary to match Dembele’s run.
It was great play from Rogic, Dembele and Griffiths, who remained in control to finish. That aside, the incredibly high standard of passing Celtic have achieved in recent weeks wasn’t matched. That’s football, it’s impossible for players, or anyone else for that matter, to perform with machine-like consistency, even John Lennon wrote the lyric, “I am a walrus”.
As well as experiencing varying levels of performance, we are now far enough into the season for teams to face Celtic with some revised plans. We play three at the back in possession, so Premiership teams push three men up when Craig Gordon has the ball, forcing the keeper to kick to the halfway line, where possession is often lost. This happened against Aberdeen, Motherwell and Accies in recent weeks.
Brendan Rodgers is miles ahead of his competition, but elements of games between now and the break will be more like chess matches than football. Not least our visit to Hamilton’s artificial surface on Christmas Eve. In the whole of 2016 only Motherwell beat Accies in consecutive games, and indication of an astonishing level of resilience by a club without the resources normally associated with senior football. Coo coo ca choo.

I agree. As I said earlier I maintain my reservations but on the whole the Bhoy is doing good

Absolutely perfect. ….awfy braw….
Braw
Kris Commons.
Should be ever honoured for his record . And not only as a hunskelper .
He was the guy who spoke for me when , on being substituted , he stomped off the park in Sweden ( ? ) , just after laying on a goal.
He paid a heavy price for his obvious display of dissatisfaction .
For me , he was a hero who put his career on the line in order to highlight the fact that his coach was just not up to the job.
Does anyone dispute now that he was perfectly correct in his assessment.
It could reasonably claimed that he ” took one for the Club.”
Thank you , Kris.
Hope that your future is secure , wherever that happens to be.
Hopefully with Celtic.
History has proved you right , Kris.

No questions for Celtic on OBaF Act?
Please get any on the Blog before midday tomorrow.
KTF
______
1. Have the questioners, questioned the sleekit PLC as to why they didn’t oppose the OBAf ACT indeed, they PLC and Paul McBride QC rubber-stamped the ACT on the alter of soul-selling-deceitful-betrayal, after they sold the clubs soul to the establishment by meekly attending the govt summit after the shame game where, Cellic had ‘3’ players booked with the only representation from the club, in the SMSM too, came from Kris Commons who opined – “…Rangers came to do a job on us last night!”….and yet,….the clubs sleekit-kowtowing representatives who attended the govt summit, agreed that both clubs were equally to blame for the shame game ????
2. When will ‘you’ stop being played ?
3. Or, are you a player ?

My friends in Celtic,
When RD and JC left our club, many of us stated that there would be consequences. Rightly or wrongly.
Many of us were convinced that certain players could have given more. Many of us were convinced that certain players did not give 100%. Many of us were convinced that there were disrupting influences in the dressing room.
Why are we surprised when the aforeseen consequences are actioned. ?
Unfortunately IMO, Kris Commons ( A player I like / liked ) falls into the consequences bracket.
Hail, hail to the whole Celtic family.
Things I didn’t know I didn’t know,it’s a long list. But this is well worth a read if you have time.

I certainly hope some, well one in particular (we’ll call him GFY to save his bum rushes) did not celebrate our 2-1 victory in our 125 anniversary year. That victory when we parked the bus allied by the GB’s outstandingly amazing display must have had said individual in tears of despair by the end of the night. Me, I was on cloud Coo coo ca choo land.

Yup your bang on, I never celebrated our 125 years 2-1 victory, I was in the Victoria Infirmary that afternoon getting a hip replacement, I never knew the score till the next day, a was mad wi the morphine , my brothers grandson got my ticket and enjoyed every minute of it, and said he will never forget that night, and thanked me very kindly, so GFY.

Good morning CQN from a grey and showery East Devon.
Commons is where he should be, heading out the door, he got the opportunity that many of us wished for in our dreams, pull the Celtic jersey over your head, and play for Glasgow Celtic, no doubt he played his part of that no one can argue, but he thought he was bigger than the club and like many before him he soon found out the hard way.
He could have been a legend, that was his decision, he couldent be a team player and lost the respect of many, myself included, he wasent Celtic, he played for Celtic, and at the end up? He didn’t get it.
TD67
I can`t argue with much of that. Oh, to have had that opportunity.

I’m with TD67 on that one, the one where he says Kris Commons did absolutely zero in the cup final. The fact he ‘wasent’ playing is neither here nor there. Tony is right, dontcha know?

Good post and I agree with you on it; your viewpoint and opinion would be far better received articulated in posts like this.
You often state that you don’t really care what others think of you, and that may be the case; however, IMHO, your contribution would be far more valuable if more of your posts were less “contentious”.
MACJAY – IMHO, Commons didn’t “take one for the club”; he behaved in a manner entirely unbefitting a Celtic player. I’m pretty sure Jock Stein would have had him off the premises permanently after a display of petulance like that. Possibly after decking him in the changing room.
KTF
Samaras was more deserving of a new contract than Commons. Ronny was too decent a man, he should have shown KC the door. He won’t get a game under Brendan.

Aye. O.K.
Forget his marvellous service over a number of years and judge him on a dummy spit which ……..only my opinion………was totally , completely and utterly justified.
He knew more than his coach.
His frustration mirrored mine.
After 8 or so more months , the penny finally and belatedly dropped in the Board room.

Don’t kid yourself that the cantankerous does not care. If he did not care he wouldn’t be stomping his fingers so often in angered response at the merest of retorts and replies that draw his anger. The “GFY”s he posts are evidence enough of the slight he absorbs.
If he weren’t so sad he’d be funny but pity is all he musters now tbh.

A tend not to take blogs to serious, I.E. the don’t care attitude, and put the drama stuff to the side, a don’t know you, nor you I, I’m getting the impression things have to be ran by you for an ok? Although I’m prob. Wrong on that me not being serious, people don’t like me? People like me? Am no here to impress anybody, far from it, a post what I agree with, and what a don’t agree with, and of course an opinion on lots of other posts, bottom line is, your right, a really don’t care, lotsa people like that I’m sure you’ll know, you either agree with a post, or disagree with a post, it’s only a written word, the person you don’t know, people assume they know me, they don’t, and prob. Never will so who cares, hope you get this, if you don’t? Then you know what’s next……
If he weren’t so sad he’d be funny but pity is all he musters now tbh.
