Tomorrow is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville

441

Tomorrow’s Scottish Cup final is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville. Having banked our 100th trophy, and an invincible league title, the opportunity to achieve a clean sweep of domestic trophies without loss of a single game is wholly without precedent. Even the Lions didn’t achieve this.

We are in an incredibly special season, an incredibly special time, for the club. When anything seems possible, it is hard to properly evaluate just how well things are going. We have had many title winning seasons, but the club’s trajectory, not to mention the sheer enjoyment of what we’re watching, has seldom come close to this season.

We face the club who have pushed us most in recent years at Hampden. They will arrive rightly believing they can win the trophy. It will be a huge task for Aberdeen, , but the odds on them taking the cup back north with them will be considerably less than those against Celtic completing an undefeated season a year ago.

Congratulations to the Celtic FC Foundation and everyone at the club who contributed to the incredible event at The Hyrdro last night. The scale and sheer professionalism of the night belied the fact that everyone involved were miles out of their comfort zone.

It was an incredible Celtic event. Thanks also to the performers who donated their time to the Foundation for free.

See you later at Greenock!

BROOOOOOOONIEEEEEE………………………………..Song for Broonie ( to the Oasis ” Roll with it ” tune ) Our Captain is Scott Brown , he never lets us down , he’s our great number eight , handed Barton his fat arse on a plate , and it’s all too much for the Huns to take…. You’ll never stare him down , just ask Diouf the clown , he’s our great number eight , handed Barton his fat arse on a plate , and it’s all too much for the Huns to take…….. Now let’s all laugh at Rangers cos they died….. But Sevco keeps the comedy alive…….. Our Captain is Scott Brown …………..

  3. What’s the weather like in Lisbon then ? ;-)

Hope all the Bhoys watching the Final today have a great day.

Also, so happy to hear that Lionsroar67 is being released today.

Not overconfident today. Aberdeen will be desperate to make up for their pathetic and gutless League Cup performance in what could be McInnes last game in charge. We will need to play well today. At least for the first 11 minutes :-)))

Here’s hoping a fantastic week for the club and the fans ends the right way.

If Patrick Roberts feels that he has more to learn from Brendan Rodgers, then we will see him at CP next season.

If he has faith in his own ability, then a three year contract, with a clause allowing him to leave if/when a suitable offer comes in would suit both parties.

Champions League group stage will be crucial, though.

Offs just remembered I’ve still to iron my XL Jock Stein t-shirt.

And before I go can I just say if Moussas fit he should start.

Love the griff, but imho the Mousse offers more to the team .

And on the bases that I know f all about football, its Griff for the first goal .

Think a longer version is to be shown on the Sportscene build-up to the final. Well worth a look, short match highlights in colour too.

In my opinion Roberts knows he will be back here next season , that’s why there has been no great emotional thank you’s and tears , although if we get them at the end of the game I will know im wrang :-(

  15. I too would take Moussa over Griff. I mean I love the wee man, but I think Moussa scares the shyte out of defences and they most definitely would love to see him on the bench or in the stands, put the fear into them Brendan, play Moussa. If its not working give Griff at least half an hour.

  17. “Jock Stein brought talent and elements of personality to the job of managing a football team that have never been surpassed. . . . He said “these people ( Inter) are defensive, but that’s their business, but it’s not our way. We want to win this in a manner that will make every neutral happy that we’ve won it”

“And Inter, after a very short time, were playing to hang on. . . . .and Celtic of course performed in a way that you felt had to win the match. . . . They had taken a wrecking ball to Helenio Herrera’s theories about percentages and defensive football. . . . Here was the conquering of Europe by a bunch of players drawn from a wee corner of a wee nation”. Hugh McIlvaney.

Remember when M O N took a chance and played Lubo in a cup game and he only lasted minutes , same with Moussa no need to take a chance of him pulling up , bring him on if or when we need a game changer or the game is effectively over ie after eleven mins :-)

Hard to believe that even for the Lions in ’66-67 there’s a ‘but’. Comparing this season to that one is like telling a pupil who got an A in a crash course Higher “ah, but you didn’t get a 1 for your Standard Grade” *
