Tomorrow is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville

441

Tomorrow’s Scottish Cup final is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville. Having banked our 100th trophy, and an invincible league title, the opportunity to achieve a clean sweep of domestic trophies without loss of a single game is wholly without precedent. Even the Lions didn’t achieve this.

We are in an incredibly special season, an incredibly special time, for the club. When anything seems possible, it is hard to properly evaluate just how well things are going. We have had many title winning seasons, but the club’s trajectory, not to mention the sheer enjoyment of what we’re watching, has seldom come close to this season.

We face the club who have pushed us most in recent years at Hampden. They will arrive rightly believing they can win the trophy. It will be a huge task for Aberdeen, , but the odds on them taking the cup back north with them will be considerably less than those against Celtic completing an undefeated season a year ago.

Congratulations to the Celtic FC Foundation and everyone at the club who contributed to the incredible event at The Hyrdro last night. The scale and sheer professionalism of the night belied the fact that everyone involved were miles out of their comfort zone.

It was an incredible Celtic event. Thanks also to the performers who donated their time to the Foundation for free.

See you later at Greenock!

  4. Lisbon latest – and what a start to cup final day

Just had a text from “Lionsroar”

Norrie, big Dan must still be in party mode, can’t contact him

Can you come and collect me from hospital, getting out

Best start ever imaginable to today

    Yesssss

    Hail Hail

  5. And just before I head out to meet Lionsroar

And just a wee reminder for us Bhoys and Ghirls still in Lisboa

    CQN “IMPORTANT Update”

For those still in Lisbon, and hoping to watch the Cup Final

A larger venue for CQN Bhoys and Ghirls has been identified today and approved by Oldtim, BT, Pogmathon, Richie etc ( feeling is Henneseys is to small for the group)

Their words food is good and very good drink – at reasonable prices :-)

The Bar has agreed to put the game on big screen

    Doca Seis

    Doca de Santo Amarom

    Armazem 6

    Alcantar

For those who went to the stadium on the train yesterday

2nd stop on the train station (heading out to stadium)

Just past another Irish bar ( can’t remember the name of this)

Anyway at least 12 Bhoys from CQN heading there at 1 to ensure they have front row seats —-

    At the bar :-)

    Hail Hail

  6. Well done to ACGR and all the CQN gowfers’ for a great day oot yesterday – met a few more great guys and shared a lot of laughs.

My group consisted of Torontony , who insisted on calling me Jeeves, took full advantage of my professional driving abilities around the course – I’m glad there was no breath test prior to the outing :-)

With us were Kickinthenakas and Grattittionthewalls – Thanks guys the company was great.

I ended up, as I usually end up with a few pints back in Rossio square and had the pleasure of buying cosy corner bhoy his first ever kebab.

I was in my bed at around 9 o’ clock to get myself in fighting shape for the final.

Talking of which, Is it the Doca seis desanto amaro?

Thanks also to Father Charlie for his wonderful sermon on Thursday and for blessing the gifts I purchased in Fatima – enjoy your pilgrimage tour.

    C’mon Celtic,,,,,one more fence.

  7. Thoroughly enjoyed last night at the Greenock club. Felt so sorry for John Hughes when he spoke of his disappointment at not playing at Lisbon because of an ankle injury. I managed a few minutes with the

microphone and tried to explain to him and the other Lions present how much they meant to ordinary

Celtic fans like ourselves. Those players made our ordinary and sometimes humdrum lives a

little less ordinary and a little less humdrum with what we saw at Celtic park when they played on a Saturday,

allowing us to go to work with a spring in our step on many a dreary Monday morning.

    Hail Hail.

  8. Back in South West London for the day reliving my quasi-hipster days. Breakfast, a wander in the sunshine then the Wimbledon CSC to watch the Bhoys make some more history. Very excited…may get all emotional again…

  9. Forget your Lisbon shenniagans Bhoys and Ghirls….I just had Breakfast on ” The Terrace”.

Yes having Cup Final Breakfast on the Terrace was truly an experience, …..although it was actually my Living Room Windae in The Calton !

My only regret was that I had to prepare the breakfast myself….as I had stupidly given the Butler and The Maid the same feckin day off ! Never again I tell you.

Aye…Cup Final Breakfast on my Calton Terrace ….ye canny whack it !

COYBIG…C’mon Celtic Just dae It !

  11. Oh man! Just watched the BBC documentary Glasgow 1967:The Lisbon Lions. Choked up. Utterly brilliant piece of television. What a fantastic team we had/have, what fantastic support we have. This Season has been brilliant, today will be the icing on the cake if we pull it off.

To go through a whole Season UNDEFEATED, in ANY league is not easy. We are on the verge of something very special Bhoys, we will be talking about this Season for many years to come. Enjoy your day, remember every second of what you did today, it will stay with you…forever. HH.

  12. Morning Timland from a very hot hun free mountain valley.

Hottest May for many a year, high 30s for the past week or so and getting hotter.

Anyways, my grandwean who is six, reckons that Jonny Hayes will score the first goal and Celtic will win 3-2, good enough for me :-)

  13. STARRY PLOUGH

It was squandered replacing the PA system in the stadium with a vintage record player.

And Peter Lawwell bought a lifetime supply of craft IPA and beard wax with the rest.

Appropriate use of the money, I’m sure you’d agree…

If the Adidas was owned by someone who saw Kraftwerk in Dusseldorf before they were famous, then that would be an acceptable deal.

  18. Cowiebhoy, thanks for the venue update see you there.

Torontotony, I take it you’ll be getting the train along? If so, what time as we’re one stop along at Monte Estoril and we’ll try and catch same train.

Billy (lionsroar67), great news, see you later as well.

  19. After Celtic became the Lions of Lisbon there was only one more game to come, fittingly like todays invincible Celtic, there is one more game to be won.

Brendan Rodgers has micro managed his Celtic side faultlessly, to the brink of you know what.

I don’t expect we’ll be three up in eleven and don’t dwell on dress rehearsal, but our eyes as well as statistics, show Celtic are by far the better side and we’re way ahead of our biggest rival.

If we turn up, etc , etc………..and a thousand other football clichés when Celtic have previously managed a clean sweep the emphasis was always on clean, and I think we’ll do it today just like the Lions went out and beat Real Madrid.

Brendan can skip his team talk and just run that video.

    Superb.

  21. Added a wee pic of BRTH under Paul’s article in recognition to the fine job he has done on the Lisbon trip – have a look.

That is how it feels to be Celtic.

  22. BSR – you back on Scottish soil and going today? I’ll be up in Section Q1, behind the Aberdeen fans I believe ;-)

  23. just had a sheep fan ask me “what the f*** you laughing at” on battlefield road. load of them getting off a supporters bus and bearing a resemblance to a load of tasmanian devils. not pleasant!!

  24. Although I’m feeling a bit nervous about the game today, I’m confident that Brendan will set the team up to take control of the midfield from the first minute and to press the Dons back four high up the park. Expect a lot of long balls to either Rooney or Stockley.

3-0 to the record breaking history makers!

What an incredible week currently on a Lisbon hotel rooftop recovering and contemplating this afternoon game so great to be a Tim. Went to the stadium yesterday with 7of the best men you are ever likely to meet an incredible emotional day. Happy happy man.

  26. Caltontongues – not sure what mode of transportation we are using today but we are leaving hotel about 12:30. Most likely we’ll jump in a taxi but I’ll tell the lads the train will be a good option for the location of pub.

I gave Jeeves the day off today as he wanted to go watch a soccer game; or I’d have had him pick you up. Mea culpa:(

Just in from a stroll on our lovely golf course, shower time then off oot to the game.

  27. I’m pretty sure that almost everyone will agree that there are 8 definite* starters today – Goron, Lustig, Boyata, Simunovic, Tierney, Brown, Roberts and Sinclair

To partner Brown – Armstrong, or McGregor

To play behind th striker – Armstrong, McGregor or Rogic (or Griffiths?)

To play as striker – Griffiths or Dembele.

If the choice was mine, the 3 would be McGregor, Armstrong and Griffiths.

    Lisbon Diary Day 4

As I struggled out of bed at 9 am after getting home at 4. I started to laugh away to myself recounting the previous nights shenanigans in Pink Street. I had my phone on silent but had a message from ACGR way to rude to post on here!

Showered n changed I was heading down to breakfast before the golf to realise I had put on my golf shoes instead of my trainers!

As we made our way to the golf we roared and laughed and a great day was had by all. The best team won and we did I it by playing beautiful inventive golf..

thanks to my playing partners Toronto Tony and Grafittionthe Wall and our erstwhile coach Teuchtar at La….a curry and a few beers last night.

All set for day 5 and the cup final. Is Trincibles a word!!

  29. HOT SMOKED on 27TH MAY 2017 7:43 AM

On a slightly damp note on a beautiful day which I hope becomes even beautifuller , I feel this will be the last time we see a truly happy Patrick Roberts in a Celtic shirt. Even if the Wee Wizard were to stay, I feel he would feel a sense of `failure` that Man City no longer wanted him and we would have a slightly less enthusiastic Paddy on our hands. I am sure he would remain committed but a little of the sparkle might disappear.

I hope I am wrong. Young Paddy is a pleasure to watch.

Yes,you are wrong.well, apart from your last sentence.

    No offence.

  30. Let the games begin! Off oot for a pre-match lunch then on to cheer the Bhoys to victory.

Have a most fantastic day all.

Oh and slightly drizzling in EK….

Morning all , Happy treble day , Jobo Baldie , no sorry I don’t agree Armstrong for me is certain to start , Gamboa , Forrest and even Moassa might start , but I think it will be GORDON – LUSTIG – JOZO – BOYATA – KT – BROWN – ARMSTRONG – SINCLAIR – ROGIC – PADDY – GRIFF , 100% confident of a win simply because we are the better team , and the ref wouldn’t dare deny us with such a spotlight on the game , make history Bhoys , :-)
