Tomorrow is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville

441

Tomorrow’s Scottish Cup final is Celtic’s biggest game since Seville. Having banked our 100th trophy, and an invincible league title, the opportunity to achieve a clean sweep of domestic trophies without loss of a single game is wholly without precedent. Even the Lions didn’t achieve this.

We are in an incredibly special season, an incredibly special time, for the club. When anything seems possible, it is hard to properly evaluate just how well things are going. We have had many title winning seasons, but the club’s trajectory, not to mention the sheer enjoyment of what we’re watching, has seldom come close to this season.

We face the club who have pushed us most in recent years at Hampden. They will arrive rightly believing they can win the trophy. It will be a huge task for Aberdeen, , but the odds on them taking the cup back north with them will be considerably less than those against Celtic completing an undefeated season a year ago.

Congratulations to the Celtic FC Foundation and everyone at the club who contributed to the incredible event at The Hyrdro last night. The scale and sheer professionalism of the night belied the fact that everyone involved were miles out of their comfort zone.

It was an incredible Celtic event. Thanks also to the performers who donated their time to the Foundation for free.

See you later at Greenock!

  4. Taken from Glasgow afternoon RAG today,

“CELTIC supporters have been urged not to march to Hampden as part of a celebration ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen today.

The Evening Times understands that the supporters group The Green Brigade had planned to march to the national stadium to mark the achievements of the club’s first season under Brendan Rodgers.

Police Scotland, however, have said in their advice to supporters that they should not congregate together in public areas.

This comes in the wake of the Manchester terrorist attack which killed 22 people this week.

In a statement, the force said: “Supporters are asked to show consideration for the general public given the recent event in Manchester and refrain from demonstrating any behaviour which includes congregating in large numbers in crowded places such as major transport hubs, which could frighten members of the public that something has happened.”

  5. Going by the above Police “Advice”…will they move on Sheep supporters IF more than 6/7 gather in one place /

What happened to all the ” We will carry on as usual crap from PM May etc” ?

  6. Move along, nothing to see here.

At Noon today an Orange walk will start off and proceed along routes that will take in,Gallowgate area,Parkhead Cross,Dalmarnock, you get the drift. Now,there is no way this will not clash with the Celtic fans on route to our National Tip.Just who gave permission for this powderkeg march to take place. Our previous Glasgow Labour Council.

Looks like a recipe for disaster.

Disgraceful. As I have just posted,at the same time there are 6 Orange Parades through Glasgow, one along the routes thousands of Celtic fans will be taking for the final.

Doesn’t matter mate. Don’t let their hatred upset you.

The one thing we need to do is transcend all that hate. Over the last few days our differences with them and their bile has been never more emphasised.

    Hail Hail.

Big Jimmy , yup post match celebrations cancelled , and all the other changes are giving the Extremists further victory’s in my opinion , carrying on as normal allied to common sense is the best way forward , minimise their impact not maximise it :-(

  15. Strange.

Police have advised the Green Brigade not to march to Hampden , in case of a terrorist attack, but an orange march can take place.

    Very strange.

If not, why not. Would be a perfect excuse to eradicate them from our streets – blame it on the Muslims. That would really feck them off.

  17. Would like to take this opportunity to once again thank BRTH for organising the Lisbon trip.

The amount of time and effort required must have been incredible.

Just reading back. Lionsroar67 is fortunately able to fly home on Thursday and his sister is going out to accompany him and bring him back. Winning Captains and myself were just discussing various options last night which included going out to get him and bring him home by car or accompanying him on the flight home, if required.

Brilliant to catch up with you and your daughter ( I will not even attempt to try and spell her name :-) ) in Lisbon. Pencil in Saturday 17th June, as a wee summer CQN beer gathering.

CQN Lisboa17 will now have a special place in my memories

A big thank you must be given to BRTH. This trip was “astonishingly brilliant”

With all the financial cutbacks you might think a violent rammy would be a good thing to finish the orange farce for good , but who knows , was it 5mil out the public purse to police these events ?

I’ve been away half my life and it stills smacks ma gob how this shite still goes on and how GCC always give them permission to walk through Celtic heartlands when we’re playing, they’ll do anything to tarnish our supports name.

Trying now to rise above it and get back to being excited about the game.

If it goes off today we’ll get the blame and bot one finger will be pointed at the lunatics who section these kind of days..

  21. I wasn’t aware of any orange feckin walks today of all days.

For such walks to be allowed to go ahead when 10s of thousands of Celtic fans in the City is unbelievable ?

Whoever on Glasgow Council and The Police who can ALSO have such things cancelled due to public safety, they should be feckin sacked !

If anyone gets hurt, then it’s Glasgow Council and the Polis with blood on their hands.

    G’day Celtic mhen and lhadies.

AnTICipation at maximum, cannot wait for the game, feel like a wee bhoy again. So,even with total belief in Brendan and a team full of matchwinners the nerves still kick in and your mind veers off into possible heartache scenarios…only to be quickly replaced with the surety of images from what our bhoys have performed like so far this season and the feeling they’ll see us through.Roll on kick-off.

Have to say,big game kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday….it’s how it always should be.

COME ON YOU BHOYS IN GREEN!

Anyway lets have a song :-) Do you know Mr Griffiths hates being called Leigh? , Bet he would love being called THE GREEN GOAL MACHINE , so……….Song for Griff ( Skippy the bush kangaroo Tune ) Griffiths , Griffiths , this bhoy was born to wear the ghreen…… Griffiths , Griffiths , Griffiths the green goal machine…… :-)

  24. Re the Orange knuckledragathon, if you happen to see any just laugh at them. They are an irrelevance, a sad relic of Scotland’s shameful past. Today belongs to us. The city belongs to us. The future belongs to us.
