Topping’s who knew what when?

2675

In his Q&A session with the Daily Record yesterday, outgoing SPFL chairman, Ralph Topping touched on the subject of who knew what when, regarding Rangers slide into liquidation saying:

“There wasn’t one single person ever who envisaged this case happening. You tell me who pointed out that this was going to happen – did you?

“The biggest assumption about the set-up in the SPL would be that you would have Rangers and Celtic playing in it in perpetuity – nobody thought that those two bastions of football would ever be involved in anything like this and nobody flagged it up.”

Well, in October 2011 I knew.  This CQN article from 27 October 2011 notes in very specific detail Rangers were going to liquidate, a phoenix would be created which wanted direct access to the SPL (the top flight at that time).  I got the timing wrong, predicting the phoenix would take place during the season, but to be fair, it later became clear this was Craig Whyte’s plan at the time.

Ralph Topping’s SPL knew too.  Rangers alerted them to the situation that very month.  The SPL spend November, December and January preparing the ground for Rangers administration and liquidation, a period during which a new TV deal was signed.

Just how easy say, would it be, for one of us to buy a hun jersey, mix with them going to a game, singing an offensive chant or song. Then getting some twat to film it and send copy of this to the meeja. Easy, yeah!!!

So, is it not possible that happened in Sunderland. Possible yeah, and I would not put it past these bastards , any thing to besmirch us.

There again, if it was a real Celtic fan , he should be identified , charged and banned for life from Celtic Park.

G67-Levein only stumbling block,I agree i don’t think PH would take orders from him…..pressure is on him now,he will have to take a step backwards

He should take a step forward IMO and manage the team.I have always thought this DOF was a joke.Just what exactly do they do?.Scout players? Is that not a position most clubs have filled with ,err,Scouts.Deal with contracts.Chief exec job,as in PL.I really cant think of anything else they could do,thats not already being done.

    Can anyone?.Please enlighten me.

  6. All I will say is remember the bad press about a bottling incident at Hampden, Celtic got the blame for that, unfortunately some/ a lot believe whats in the papers, fat boy strikes again.

  7. “…we don’t care if we win , lose or are cheated by the SPFL/SFA/Plc ,what the hell do we care! For we only know that we’re being lied to by Board,…etc, etc, etc”

    KINGLubo,

Good point! Have a look at the Imperial Bears Twitter feed. There are all kinds of tricks going on, they think they are in a propaganda war.

It’s worth telling all youngsters that these cretins are trawling the net looking for any incident or singing that might embarrass folk.

They are then trying to identify people and name and ‘shame’ them online.

They are even warning their supporters what not to put online or to conceal their identities if singing inappropriate songs.

    Their advice is

If it’s the Police ‘Not Guilty’

If it’s the media ‘No comment.’

    They are dangerous and sinister.

    Podium on page 69!!

Another great year, 2nd treble in 3 seasons for Big Jock, including humiliating the Deidclub 4-0 in the SC final, reaching the QF of the European Cup, going out narrowly to eventual winners AC Milan (0-1) who also put out Man Utd in the semi-final, and cuffed the arising Ajax side 4-1 in the final.

Ajax had produced a spectacular result during the competition, defeating Benfica in a play-off, having lost the first leg at home 1-3.

You state very dramatically that the inaction of the PLC will slowly ‘kill’ Celtic, yet you are prepared to advocate full scale boycotts which risk having precisely the same effect, at a time when no one can know for sure that this issue has run its course and nothing is going on in the background??

It would have been pretty stupid of Celtic to be making rash, emotional, angry statements over the last couple of years. Charles Green was mocked for doing exactly that. To call Auldheids integrity into question, even unintentionally, shows that you are letting you emotions cloud your judgement on this one.

We all want the same thing but you played all your cards at once and Celtic can’t afford to do the same.

Please also be aware that the Imperial Bears describe themselves as a PUL Action Group,

“The PUL Community in the United Kingdom have received a timely reminder of the perilous position we find ourselves in.”

Some detailed research of the PUL Community is also a cause of concern…

  12. That must have been the last season they used play-offs, as we progressed against Benfica (3-3) after the toss of a coin at the end of extra time in the second leg of the QF the following year.

    ###

    It’s been five years.

In that time (five years) Celtic could have released a brief, concise, rational and unequivocal statement making the Club’s position clear on the same club myth, on allocating titles won by the dead club to the new club, on Res 12 and on title stripping.

One statement would have been enough to let the fans, and the world at large, know exactly where the Club stands on these matters.

As it is no one, other than the Board members, knows what the Club’s position is.

    That is unacceptable.

  16. Izzy isn’t going to be replaced apparently. Ralston & Miller are covering the fullback areas.

Can’t see Celtic signing a CB after young Ajer’s performance. I’d expect to see very few signings by the end of the window. Perhaps Patrick Roberts and a striker.

    Maybe.

  19. When king returned to sevco it was obvious that the bad press would come to Celtic , that’s how they operated when he was there with murray.

Some would say it’s a price worth paying as our dominance continues and another meltdown inevitable at ibrox.
