Turning points matter more than form

193

No one can convince you or I Celtic played well, against The ‘Well, yesterday.  Throughout the first half, the players looked like strangers.  At times, Motherwell ripped us open.  This was not league winning form.  None of that matters, though.

When you are not playing well, all that matters is you pick up wins until you get your form back.  Another injury-time win at Fir Park this season kept us within touching distance of the top.  When Adam Idah scored his second, you and I knew, and you better believe Newco fans knew, Celtic are still in this title race.  The Pretenders have the most effective trophy winning operation in Europe breathing down their necks, be sure, they will feel it.

Alistair Johnston returned at right back but looked like he had hardly played with Nicolas Kuhn before – he has hardly played with him.  Greg Taylor was a welcome sight at left back, he too looked estranged from his left wing partner, Daizen Maeda, fewer excuses there.

Tomoki Iwata made a rare and accomplished appearance in the deep midfield role, allowing Callum McGregor to partner Matt O’Riley in the more advanced roles.  Neither Callum nor Matt performed to their normal levels.  Kyogo was a virtual spectator.

Goals change games and Adam Idah scored two stunners which not only changed the game but may change the season.  His first, from a Taylor cross, his second, from Johnston’s cross; both full backs back and doing what is required.  The third came from another cross, this time Yang’s, who found Luis Palma to settle the nerves.  Hopefully Brendan will soon learn who his best wingers are.

The second half was peppered with the influential return of Cameron Carter-Vickers, such a steadying figure for Celtic, he snuffed out the persistent threat from Motherwell’s Theo Bair.  It was good to see the players with genuine smiles on their faces at the end.  There remains a lot to do but let’s hope this was a turning point.

“Lift Off was Granada TV’s answer to BBC’s Top of the Pop’s – A spin off from Granada’s pop show Discotheque, but aimed at younger viewers and ran for 5 years from 1969 – 74 originally presented By singer Graham Bonney who was then joined by the lovely Ayshea Brough who became the programmes sole human host and it’s …

I have googled ” Lift Off and AYSHEA” and I now remember her being a very pretty Girl from her Photos on Google.

Radio Scotland doing it’s utmost to deride Brendan Rodger’s. He’s now the focus of their morning programme. Utter disgrace.

If Celtic do not ban these people from Celtic Park now, then they probably never will.

They , Celtic, might feel that banning them would lead to an even worse Press coverage for our club but I don`t think that ( worse coverage) is possible.

Son to Dad : What does political correct mean ?

Dad to son : Well son, it means giving up your own opinions and beliefs in order to please some whiny little cry babies.

  9. Greenpinata

You can give up your beliefs, just make sure you never give up your seat on a bus or train.

I’m sure that would be frowned upon these days.

Growing up, I’d surely have said ‘here, misses, want this seat?’

Nowadays, folk would take umbrage that I’ve assumed her gender and consider her to be weaker.

It’s madness. Madness, I tels ya

Political correctness/woke is essentially identity politics.

I hope you are just as concerned about the mental health of a generation of youngsters who’s mental health has been severely impacted by lockdown when the science showed there was virtually no increased risk to them or to their peers.

As a society we did not manage risk correctly.

Exactly this. Does anyone actually believe there’s a guy in banking office sitting with a mask on just howling like a wolf whenever he feels like it?? My mate works with a guy who it was alleged identified as a vampire. Mate asked him about it on a night out and said he doesn’t identity as anything, he’s just really into vampires the way people are into football, into Marvel, into Harry Potter, into whatever. And yet this myth circulates around his office with no regard for the truth and gets exaggerated every time it’s passed on.

How many transgender people do people in here see in person on a daily / weekly / monthly / yearly basis?????? I’d say maybe a dozen in my lifetime at a push. And given the unrelenting abuse they take from the right wing culture wars I very much doubt any of them they’d be offended by someone offering them their seat. Stop lying.

  24. From the BBC site ( sorry) :

  29. I have sad news to bring about an ex-CQnr who hasn’t been on these pages for some time.

News has been forwarded that Whitedoghunch (Bryan) has passed away after a long spell in hospital. Brian was a source of info on restaurants and fine food all across Scotland and abroad. I remember him telling me he was associated with a Scottish Band in the 80s- not sure as a performer or manager- but he suffered badly from the effects of a road accident which affected his mobility, speech and even thought and mood. He used to live down the road from me but moved 15 years ago when his parents died. I had heard he was hospitalised but I knew no more until the sad news came through today.

Brian was capable of writing some difficult stuff on here but there were neurological issues and some understandable mental health issues behind that. In person, he was generous and put me in touch with a few fine places that my family enjoyed. His was a life curtailed by that accident; he had a lot of promise unfulfilled in a life that started so brightly for him.

    RIP WDH
