Uefa suspending the suspense for a week

75

Uefa partially closing a 70,000-seat stadium for racist behaviour to punish Lazio, who attracted 13,072 to their previous Europa League game, has to be the least punitive action in history.  No one will be excluded from attending next week’s Lazio-Celtic game and gate receipts will not be affected.

Instead, Uefa imposed a suspended stadium closure on Lazio, which will kick in if a similar offence occurs within 12 months.  There is a possibility of this suspension becoming an active ground closure, if the match observer records racist behaviour from Lazio fans at Celtic Park next week.

Lazio will not bring many fans to Glasgow next week, so you would think they could refrain for a night.  We’ll see.

  1. Edouard hits 9 goals for French U21 team meanwhile Morelos is yet to score for Colombia at Under-17, Under-20 or senior level.

  2. The Lazio decision will be sleekitly played in the meeja to align Celtic with any punitive action so that it will appear to scoddland and any mouth-breathers, that we are one and the same with the problem issue.

Just watch the headline writers do their sleekit worst.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Great to read that big Bayo is prepared to wait for his chance and a run

in the team, he recognises that Edoooard is the main striker but has the

confidence to think that he’ll be the main man.

Good on him, not seen enough of him to think he will be, but what i have

seen, well, still a bit of work to do imo.

    Oz tims.

This is the time of year when rebel town is packed to the gunnels, Sunday

is our Oktoberfest when the centre and Main st is closed off to traffic.

As usual loads going on with multiple food and wine stalls and music at

    every other corner.

Our CSC is meeting up in Mr Pauls bistro again for a day of great banter

and our resident musical rebel big Richie belting out the rebs from 2.30

    onwards.

If you don’t know where the pub is it’s in the Vale arcade, or just follow the

    hooped shirts lol.

    See you all there COYBIG.

  5. UEFA really don’t have a clue.

This partial ground closure has no real effect. Ground closure has financial penalties as do fines?

As such it doesn’t really change Fan behaviour.

The Irony of England complaining about racist behaviour should not be forgotten. England clubs like Chelsea are notorious for racist behaviour.

It is being spun as an Eastern European problem, but, Lazio have shown it is alive in Italy. Spain, Germany and others have significant racists in their support.

Is it really the clubs that should be punished?

Rather than fine the club should UEFA try to apply a levy on tickets and fans would be affected in the pocket?

    Maybe both?

UEFA should be providing a road map for clubs to follow an anti racist programme involving education. Maybe also clubs where there is an issue should have to appoint anti Racist Supporters liaison officer to enforce the programme as a condition of playing in UEFA tournaments

    Lazio –

Play Atalanta on Saturday . Games between those 2 are usually attractive to the we like violence zoomers associated with both clubs . Added attraction is far right (Lazio ) v far left (Atalanta ).Blood and Honour . Violence and Injury

Big game for both teams . A win for Atalanta will keep them in the Top 3 and a home loss will be seriously bad news for a struggling ( their defence has been woeful – the 11 million centreback -Vavro – signed from Copenhagen – looks like an absolute numpty ) Lazio who are already 8 points off the top spot .

  8. Looking for a wee bit of advice.

My Buddy and I are going to the away game in Rome, but are unable to get tickets for Celtic end from official sources.

I was offered two at a price of €72 each. Is this the face value ?

Was thinking of getting a mate in Rome to purchase two for the general stadium, as Paul67 states, they are never even half full for these games. Have done this several times in Europe, with no problems.

These tickets are not on line yet. Anyone know the price Lazio normally charge for these games ?

    MADRARUA

Ticket price ranges from 45-115 Euros..Lazio’s website clearly states No Away Fans.(who should get one from Celtic ).Highly likely plod will do identity checks before you are allowed to approach the turnstile..

  10. CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that it has appointed Nick Hammond as the club’s new Head of Football Operations.

Nick, who worked with the club as a consultant during the summer transfer window will, with immediate effect, take up this position and oversee the club’s football operations working alongside the Football Manager, Neil Lennon.

  11. What’s a Head of Football Operations and how doies it differ from Head of Recruitment or Director of Football??

    JOBO – from previous thread.

I went through the same process wrt trying to find a cost justifiable option to play my vinyl collection.

In the end, I settled for the Audio Technica LP60XUSB

    https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/turntables/audio-technica-lp60xusb-black.html

If you don’t currently have an amplifier with analogue speakers, there is also a version that can connect directly to a Bluetooth speaker – the LP60XBT

    https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/turntables/audio-technica-lp60xbt-black.html

For the money, I was extremely impressed by the LP60XUSB

Richer Sounds are a very good and ethical retailer – but you might find that you can also source from John Lewis if more convenient for you.

    Cheers,

€ 45 isn’t too bad. €72 for the seats in the sky seems seems a bit much.

I know what you mean regarding Plod, but I’ve used this method a few times in Europe.

Upside is you get a better seat and your get to leave at the final whistle.

Downside is, you miss the craic with the Bhoys and Ghirls and you might have to sit on your hands when Celtic score.

  16. An Tearmann, South Of Tunis, James1955, Tim Malone Will Tell – thanks for your advice regarding the ole vinyl to iTunes options. Apparently this is for my Christmas (along wih a new piano stool and a new golf bag!) so a few weeks yet to research further. I suppose my ideal sluion is a record player with speakers (to listen to the vinyl in years to come) but with the added facility of transferring the album to iTunes.

There are plenty of options out there that will convert vinyl to digital as well as playing a ‘proper record’ through an amplifier system. Certainly, the first option I listed definitely falls into that category.

Otherwise, it’s just a question of budget and opinion – I hope you enjoy whatever you choose

It’s a hard one to call.No info yet re the Security Level etc..I think it’s highly likely the crowd will be small. If you get in you could find yourself sitting beside a couple of artichoke farmers from small town Lazio who’ll offer you a hit of coffee laced with grappa. The coffee will be stronger than the grappa.Alternatively you might be next to some nut Jobs whose favorite book is Mein Kampf. It’s possible that outside might be more dangerous than inside the stadium -particolari the night before.Take care !

  22. Jobo, before you buy a turntable have a look at What Hi-fi on the net. They list lots of equipment and good and bad of same. Richer Sounds have shop at the Barras on London road (I think) tend to find what they advertise as on sale is never in stock. Good Luck. Get a mortgage and buy Linn ;-)

Morelos is a good striker, only a fool would say otherwise.

  25. The conveyor belt of Celtic supporters comparing Eddy with Morelos is pointless for Eddy and does a job for the Huns and SMSM promoting the later. Of course we don’t want Morelos to score against us or go for big money. Ridiculing him however is nonsense, he is a good striker and seems to have curbed his temper. The sooner he departs the Huns the better as he scores goals.
