If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.
Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.
Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.
All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

The Left in Britain abandoned the communities who are suffering under austerity. That allowed the lies and bullshit of UKIP and others to take root in working class communities. ‘Blame the immigrants’ was the message. ‘Look the other way while we white rich people screw you and your families and abandon you to your date.’ And it worked because there was no labour movement telling them the truth because the blairites had taken over the party and much of the union movement.
The rest is detail. But when those who are able to articulate go chasing votes in middle England that’s what happens. And when those in solid working class labour areas take their constituents for granted you get them voting SNP or UKIP.

I don’t get the “white english working class” bit…. the cheap labour problem you describe is simply a consequence of supply and demand. If there was a population explosion in a closed-off Britain, the result would be the same – where would the anger be directed then? Is it an immigration problem, or a population increase problem? If we can agree on that, we can start to have a debate.
