van Dijk signs four year deal

1571

Absolutely delighted at the arrival of Dutch under-21 international central defender, Virgil van Dijk, on a four year deal.  A central defender was one of three priorities for this summer and we have secured our first choice target.

The signing will also give a boost to the squad, and a timely reminder to all that amidst talk of player potentially leaving ‘at the right price’, the Celtic Story is one of progress.

Celtic had the tallest team in the Champions League last season.  They were also top scorers from headed goals in the competition until Bayern Munich caught them in the semi-finals.  With the addition of two 6’4” players (van Dijk and Balde) we look to be consolidating our strengths.

Welcome to Celtic, Virgil.

Last call for tonight’s special Lions Roar event.  Watch the 1967 European Cup final on big screens in the Kerrydale Suite followed by a Q&A with the men who made history (including Willie Wallace, Heart of a Lion available below).  See you there.

  2. Evening Guys,

sorry for ram raiding the blog but I’ve just come in from a night out and have an urgent request.

Back in late June 2010 I posted a story about my late father telling me how he broke the story of the 7-1 game to his army barracks in Germany during his national service days.

I’ve been trying to retrieve it to show my kids but have drawn a blank.

It was well received at the time and I recall someone saying that they had stored it in a folder that they kept along with other posts that they wanted to retain. I was just wondering if anyone looking in had access to data from that period?

    thanks in advance

  3. Dessybhoy,

    Great thanks,

Being a novice myself I’m a wee bit unsure what all the numbers are,

I’ve made 3 columns reg, cert and ref numbers as yet I’m no sure which is which so just lumping them all into whichever, so far there have been prefixes of P, C and N also GB and some without prefix, we’ll get there.

    Hail Hail

  4. good night all

  6. Emeraldbee … I was there for the lioness and my 40th….. last year… ok a few years ago.. Never had a bad meal… We stayed out at the bus/train station up from the collesium. Folk told us it was rough we loved it.

We never had a bad meal or experience in the time we were there. We walked everywhere. Tell your good lady to get a chit and a bottle of vino and sit at the fountain and watch the world go by at night…

We were last there in February 2011, the weekend Gary Hooper skelped the Huns, with a few days added on.

What we found was that most places in the centre and in all touristy areas are only pretending to be Roman restaurants and are just in the game of ripping off dumb tourists. There must be exceptions, but you would need someone really in the know to find them.

If I were going again, I would stay within touching distance of the main attractions (St Peter’s, Trastevere, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps) by public transport, but stay in the suburbs and eat in the local area at night time. We did this a few times and the meals were really memorable, whereas the central places were instantly forgettable.

I paid €100 for lots of food for five and lots of wine for two, plus coffee and maybe grappa (it has that effect on me, I can’t remember). We were the only non-natives there, which is always a great sign.

It was well off the beaten track at Quattro Venti.

  9. Menat to say I watched Thommo score against Barca in a pub on that trip when he scored the Lioness said I was nuts…. but she had said that before then and since then..on more than 1 occassion

  10. My Dear Kojo….

Are Walking Wounded….Who Will Never Recapture Their Previous Form….

    And Charlie Mulgrew….Is Never A Mid-Fielder….

    So Georgios And Tom Terrific…..

Will Hiv Their Work Cut Out…..

    Holding This ‘PowderPuff’ Middie….

    Together….

And I Hope You’ve Found Us Another Left Back….Seein’ As You’ve Cashed In On Izzie….

    21 June, 2013

About 30 years ago I helped an old neighbour of mine move some furniture. (He was getting a new carpet fitted)

Anyway, next day he arrives at my door and thanks me once again for my help.

He gives me a number of Slazenger golf balls (wee size) still in the wrapping paper and a tube of 3 Dunlop 65′s, again still in their wrappers .

I never used them as they were the small size and still have them in mint condition.

Anyone any idea if they are worth anything?

    Thanks in advance.

    ………………………………………………………………….

    Philbhoy,

I’ve no idea what they are worth but would be interested in purchasing ………….. I’ve never held a wrapped Dunlop 65 or Slazenger in my hand since I was about 14 and I’m now 50.

Let me know if you really want to sell and we can sort something out.
