ASTON VILLA have slapped a £6million price tag on Celtic target Scott Sinclair – a move revealed in CQN on Wednesday.
New boss Brendan Rodgers wants to make his former Swansea winger his first signing, but it appears his initial bid of £2million plus add-ons has been rejected by the newly-relegated Midlands outfit.
The champions could be forced to match the club record transfer fee paid for John Hartson, Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon to secure the 27-year-old’s capture.
Sinclair forged a successful working relationship with Rodgers at the Welsh outfit in 2011, earning an £80,000-a-week move to Manchester City before switching to Villa 18 months ago.
Rodgers has cash available, with a higher offer expected, but there is likely to be another obstacle with Sinclair picking up almost £60,000-a-week at the Championship side.
