  1. Lat year St. Johnstone played 5 post split fixtures, winning 4 and drawing 1. This included beating us 2:1 at McDiarmid Park. The previous year they won 1 lost 1 and drew 3 after the split. They seem to finish the year with focus and stamina. We should get a good test tomorrow

    But…. we have several advantages-

    1) We will want to defend with vigour our unbeaten record

    2) Players are trying to impress to win a Cup Final slot

    3) Fresh players are being introduced and, though that may disrupt continuity, it brings fresh legs and a desire to seize the chance to impress

    4) They’ll want to cuff the Saints for not nominating Broony with sufficient votes.

  2. 8:26 selection would be my Cup Final line up ( but I feel sure Brendan will go with Mikel ).

    For tomorrow?

    I`d go with:

    Gordon.

    Gamboa,Simunovic, Boyata, Tierney.

    Roberts, Armstrong, Kouassi, Rogic, Sinclair.

    Griffiths.

Fair enough. Virgil van Dijk was the best I have seen at Celtic but I am very happy with Jozo and Dedryk.

I dont know if anyone saw or commented on this article …. and, honestly, I wouldn’t know ziggy gordon from adam … but he is saying what I have been saying for some time now – that Scottish football has fallen behind most countries in terms of technique, tactics and coaching – and he doesn’t seem to have any agenda is saying this ….

A season or two ago, I felt Big Mik would have been comfortable in ANY team in Europe. Of late, I feel he is like my golf ie some excellent stuff but with too many mistakes.

Maybe we have been a bit spoiled of late and I am being too demanding because Big Mik is certainly not a weak link….just not as good as Kieran !

Was talking to a couple of Dons fans in work today – undecided if they would go to the Cup Final or not this year. These are two dyed-in -the-wool (sorry) Dons fans who have followed rhem for years and years. They said they would be waiting to see how the gane next Friday goes against us before making a decision.

I told them i thought it was a ‘nothing’ game for them, in that, the result won’t influence the cup final in any way. They might get a bit of belief if they get a good result, but that could have an adverse effect, making us even more determined to take out our frustration on them in the final.

I said that their game against Sevco in Glasgow the week before the final is much more important to them because they have an appalling record against them, especially in Glasgow. If they can go there and win, it gives them belief that they can get a result in Glasgow, against the odds, and that might help their players and management team to prove something to themselves.

Still not convinced. They said they’d wait until the week of the game to see if their allocation sold out, and then make a decision.

I would be very surprised if Aberdeen sell their full allocation of tickets this year.

Before then, as I’ve said earlier, i want to see our strongest available team on the pitch for kick-off tomorrow.

If we go into the final undefeated, i think Aberdeen will be beaten before a ball is kicked..

History beckons. What a great time this is to be a Celt.

Will you be making an appearance at the Corner tomorrow?

It would be interesting to see how they get on if they get a lot of games together without any injuries.

JJ- been saying for a few years on these pages , that IMO Lustig is our most comfortable player at CL level.A top pro from all accounts, BR loves him and his attitude, for a guy with not a lot of pace, he plays the RB position brilliantly.

  10. HOT SMOKED

KT has a couple of real good Celtic men to learn from in Izzy and Mikael and I’m sure he’s paying attention:))

    Exciting times for Tims.

I’ll be interested to see what kind of player markets BR is looking at in the summer.

  11. I was talking to one of the St Johnstone boys during the week. He’s Sevco minded and I enjoyed chatting to him about last Saturday. He was less than impressed from what he has heard on the grapevine about our Pedro.

I suggested that he must have been relieved that they didn’t go for Tommy Wright who I always thought was a blue-nose but to my surprise he said he won’t go there as he’s a big Celtic man.

    Do there you go!

Will Aberdeen put a full team out next week, with Cup Final coming up?

  13. MIT

I agree that Ziggy doesn`t seem to have an agenda but I felt he was praising his new League rather than criticising Scottish football. I would be surprised if any of the teams in our top division were not taking a thoroughly professional approach to the game ( with individual player exceptions).

His goal last week against the huns just typified the player Big Mik is, Celtic daft and a winner through and through.

How dare they pull wan back:)))

  15. Winning Captains.

I have long admired St Johnstone so I am glad to hear that bit of news re Tommy Wright 0:-)

” How dare they pull wan back:))) ”

True. I didn`t like it either when they pulled one back. Had Mik not scored, the last goal would have been theirs and given them a wee bit of hope and us a wee bit of annoyance. Big Mik`s superb effort put paid to those possibilities !

St Johnstone are quite possibly the snarliest, competitive, bitching at the ref team we face.

Do they have a hun infested squad or ‘just’ a bunch that like a battle?

They will be coming to Paradise looking to be the ‘one’ that puts a stop to this damn run of ours that’s for sure and will be biting and scratching for everything and anything.

Ordinarily id be saying i hope we can raise our game, despite the fact the title has been in the bag for so long, but because of the way our side have performed all season……i know they will.

There’s only a few contenders left to finally claim our scalp…….lets strike another one off that dwindling list :)

  18. MIKE IN TORONTO

    How are you ?

Ziggy is just a big softy.

He should study some of the visionary coaching books written by dour Scots.

Is it too late to pick a car befitting Sevco?

Couldn’t find it on the net but pretty sure there was a Red Honda Ulster available a while back?

  21. Thirty six years ago today Bobby SandsTD died on hunger strike.

He and his comrades were protesting at the criminalisation of the Republican struggle.

Here’s a song about their protest:

Was going to send it a little earlier but then i decided to see how Spurs fared.

    Sorry!

  24. As it’s Bobby’s anniversary, I thought I would post this again, a wee poem Mrs TET wrote when the bitch Thatcher died.

Our Bobby came for Maggie, he offered her his hand.

She asked if he was consort, to the promised land ?

“Ah sure your passage will be safe, there’s plenty there to meet”

Maggie smiled and went with him, till she felt the heat!

“What is this place you take me, where is my throne and crown?

Our Bobby said to Maggie, “I think your going down !”

Ten brave men stood in judgement, deciding on her fate.

The eternal burning fires of hell, or heavens pearly gates.

The first to speak was Raymond, he looked her up and down

With Francis, Joe and Michael standing close, Maggie gave a frown.

While we hungered for justice, your judgement sealed our fate.

It’s the fires of hell for you, ye bitch not heavens pearly gates.

Then Thomas, Kevin, Kieran and Patsy all gave their thought

If Maggie should enter the gates of paradise or not

Martin smiled at Bobby they agreed her fate was sealed.

For crimes again the IRISH, compassion she would not yield.

Then St Peter gave a smile at Gods chosen men

For they were her jury, those bold courageous ten.

He asked what they decided, what is her fate, do tell ?

Bobby smiled and pushed her, into the fiery bowels of hell

  28. Reading ” Sapiens ” by Yuval Noah Harari, this little snippet reminded me of something ,

` an imagined order is always in danger of collapse, because it depends on myths, and myths vanish once people stop believing in them. `

I`ll leave with that and will be in the company of many of you at 3 pm tomorrow.

    Goodnight all.
