Walk with Shay 1

Incredible pieces of Celtic History that you could win

As you may already know, we have 2 Celtic tops (1 home and 1 away) signed by the last 11 Club Captains of Celtic Football Club spanning the past 53 years of our unbroken history, from Billy to Broony. These items have been professionally designed and framed, containing all the players’ relevant stats. These truly are two of a kind and are a once in a lifetime opportunity to be the proud owner of.  The signing of the tops took us around 18 months to achieve and the journey and story behind this was amazing. We plan to share this story with you over the coming weeks.

We are also delighted to announce that the money raised from the Captains tops (and other special prizes) will not only support Shay but also the wonderful work of the Celtic FC Foundation.

This is our plan

The WalkWithShay Campaign is now fully registered with the Licensing Board to run lotteries (raffles); and we are planning to hold our 1st raffle where the First Prize will be the Away Club Captains top, together with many other great Celtic related prizes.  The draw date for this raffle will be 25th May 2017 (no need to remind you of the significance of that date). We need help to sell our raffle tickets for £5 each and spread awareness before then. Yes, that’s right, you could win the Away top for just £5!!!! The Home top will be raffled/auctioned or sold at a later date.

This is where we need your help…

We’re looking for

67 Supporters Clubs / Groups / Associations / Online Communities/Businesses/Establishments or super Individuals to each sell up to 50 (Lisboa) tickets @£5 each

This will form our Green Battalion

and

67 individuals to sell up to 10 (IAR) tickets @ £5 each

This will form our White Battalion

You are of course all welcome to sell more or indeed a smaller quantity of tickets, if you so desire. Regardless of what you sell (or buy) we really appreciate your support.

We would like to have all our sellers registered before Monday 3rd April, which is when we plan to go live with the sale of our raffle tickets. There is a bit of work here to ensure we comply with our license, so please contact us now.

Please help us recruit by sharing our story with your family, friends and colleagues.

Will you Join Wee Shay’s Green Raffle Army?

Are you able and willing to help and support this amazing initiative? If so please email us at walkwithshay@yahoo.com or if you are on Twitter send us a direct message @walkwithshay we are also on Facebook.

Thanks for taking the time to read our update and we really hope you can support Shay and his young family.

Yours forever in Celtic and thank you for Walking with Shay.

Was the sole reason for Leicesters struggle as they lost their conductor.

Hard for smaller teams to keep predators away from your best players especially as agents now demand a release clause when signing for anyone outside European financial elite teams

.Football is now a franchise in all but name.

  2. Don’t think Dundee tried to “Kick the shit” out of us. They were cynical, pulling jerseys, pushing in the back, tripping & head-locking. Thought Willie was fair & reffed it OK. We were done out of a corner & a shy but apart from that no real complaints.

It’s not so much that other teams have sussed us out, we have had a long season, with Euro games, Betfred Cup run & Scottish Cup. The sharpness & zip is missing a bit. It’s as much mental tiredness as physical. Also with such a huge lead it is difficult to be totally motivated for every game. On the other hand every opponent wants to be the guys to end our unbeaten run.

However as already pointed out, even though we are gone a bit off the boil, we are still winning and that says a huge amount about our character.

Only worry is that we may not be at our best for Cup Semi. It has been a super season and even God forbid if we lost the semi it will still rank as a fantastic season.

However that is a scenario that none of us even want to contemplate, that is why there is a bit of angst after games like today.

  3. Fan-a-tic.

On the plus -side, some of the vision and weight of pass, under pressure, and at speed, from De Bruyne and the great David Silva, was exquisite, especially in that first 45.

  4. Boyatta. When an opposing player beats you with a lovely bit of skill,it is not a mistake.Never has been a mistake, never will be a mistake.

Like saying Craig Gordon made a mistake not saving that shot.

    Absolute nonsense.Boyatta,IMHO,was MOTM today.

Spot on, I remember one night think it was Benfica at Celtic park (Kenny Miller was outstanding) apologies for typing that, we got a corner and without speaking Lenny & Lambert turned and walked to the halfway line as our 3 giant centre halves passed them on the way up for the corner, the “unfashionable” players are usually the most important, Kante of Chelsea is probably more influential than Costa ……

It has been a thoroughly enjoyable season, Brendan & the Bhoys have been immense, would love to win the Scottish cup but for me am going into the CL qualifiers quietly confident, we are in a good place (hope Brendan stays for years and starts playing the Griff :-)

  6. MIKE IN TORONTO

    Hockey guys are toughness beyond.

I was at a game in NY when D McCarty of Detroit took a skate to the face.

The trainer came on and picked up a triangular piece of forehead skin from the ice.

They went back to locker and sowed it back on at the cost of about 160 stitches,

He returned about half an hour later and played in part of second and all of third period.

Contrast that with the diving fannies that permeate football nowadays.

  7. Fan-a-tic

Couldn’t disagree more. Fernandinho was outstanding today and is one of the best. I thought he and Sterling were stand outs at Celtic Park. That is the nature of Peps footballing style, they will always be vulnerable at the back when they are essentially playing with a front 5. Good on him, great to watch. If Virgil goes to City he will be exposed. At Southampton he has two sitting midfielders in front of him, the system protects him as it does Cahill and Luiz at Chelsea. Quite often it’s more about the system that the players on the pitch.

  8. BEATBHOY

Agree as both Silva and De Bruyne are class.

But a lack of defensive awareness in their team and system undermines the brilliance they display going forward.

That is why Guardiolas team are so far behind Chelsea.

  9. Re Leicester/Kante. Shakespeare has went back to the system and tactics they used last year. Now all of a sudden they aren’t missing Kante. They lost Kante but the problem was that Ranieri changed the system and it didn’t work.

  10. Three points needed to win the league with 8 games to go , two games to win the cup, tough times for us.

  11. TIMREAPER

Going forward it’s good to watch but their league position suggests it is to vulnerable.

Fernandinho can win a tackle and pass but positionally he is a liability in his role.

How often today did Liverpool have straight runs at the city defense?

He is rash at times and give away silly fouls.

They should show him some Kante videos to show him the intelligence needed for that role.

Perhaps he is playing to instruction or needs someone smarter alongside for guidance?

Or maybe he just needs to play in a better and more complete system.

Fair enough, do you think Conte has used Kante and made Chelsea harder to beat ?

    ————–

Chelsea are boring as hell to watch, 1 striker up top and Hazard the rest are defensive players. No wonder Kante looks good, must be such an easy gig for him.

Chelsea are boring to watch same with Man U – Jose had 6 centre halfs on the pitch today in the Boro game, if that’s football then I aint watching it.

  14. does darren play like that every week or just against us.

by the way, thought the ref last week was bad very bad.(dont like to use the word cheat).

  15. Fan-a-tic

City’s system is more open and expansive than Chelsea’s so you can’t compare the defensive midfielders. Fernandinho is being asked to do the job of two men. Yaya was a weak link today. Chelsea have had a free run with no European football to contend with. Hence they have been more consistent. City will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

  16. Chelsea are more workmanlike than pretty.

But Hazard is an exciting footballer as is Willem.

Like Italy under Conte they are disciplined and hold their shape.

But once they get a turnover or gain possession they are very quick and fluid on the break.

Our Darren has been booked 8 times this season, 2 against Celtic, never sent off.

  18. GFTB

Conte started the season playing 4-3-3. Arsenal gave them a doing 3-0 in September at the Emirates. If you watch the highlights you will find Kante chasing shadows and I’m not kidding. Conte immediately reverted to the 3-4-3 he used at Juve, and as they say the rest is history. Now they have two sitters protecting 3 centre halves and play with two wing backs. Crucially the wing backs mean that Hazard doesn’t need to defend and has a free role so to speak.

Seen that the regressive Left in America are trying to get St.Patrick’s day banned because they deem it to be racist lol.

Halloween as well is another target.

Also read earlier the same crackpots are campaigning against milk claiming that milk is a racist product, something about lactose.

I was not using the systems as a comparison?

I said Kante who plays in Chelseas system is the best like he was last year in Leicesters.

He has wonderful game sense .

Fernandinho does not have that level of awareness.

He is a good athlete and is decent but lacks that ingredient to be on a higher level.

I have been on record for years saying Guardiola’s system has been sussed so unless he is willing to change his philosophy i think it will be much like this season.

Sane,Silva,Sterling and De Bruyne are all wonderful creative talents but their system is defensively poor.

City v Liverpool game was very good, 2 teams attacking.

I like the EPL usually, every once in a while a boring team wins it Chelsea are usaully that team no matter who the manager is.

Arsenal and Man U of old were great teams to watch, now not so much.

I would watch any fitba on the box but if it’s not Celtic it will not hold my attention, love my BT vision the German fitba is good bundesliga & bundesliga 2 but the crowds make the games as well, but I still think Kante is pretty decent, not sure he would get in our 11 :-)

  25. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, another good win for us today against a team using tactics which our refs seem to tolerate .

The BBC match stats said we had two attempts on target . Surely it was three with Dedryk’s header cleared off the line unless they are not including Jozo’s shot as an attempt on target.

James looked in great form going by the highlights.

That Benfica three nil game when K Miller scored twice does not seem to rank high up in our European wins. Our second goal that night was a great move, Benfica were attacking , Evander Sno got the ball back, passed it to Sean who held it up then cut inside then played a smashing ball throught to K Miller who finshed it off well.

  26. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Oh I meant to say when our ex player , Paul McGowan , pulled back Callum when he broke into the Dundee box why did the linesman not flag for a penalty and it would have been a second yellow card for Paul.

Even that Sportscene commentator who normally spends most of our games mentioning matches

we haven’t won, said McGowan was lucky.

Holt brought down James when clean through, didn’t get a yellow then chopped down Roberts who was also clean through, and was finally booked. Welcome to Scotland

Darren is i good pro , who will give 100% for who he plays for.As a defender , some tackles will be borderline.Back in the day he was a young left sided CB,along with McManus,WGS picked McManus. He was getting a few shifts on Radio Scotland, until he called out the cheating huns, and said he wanted their tainted titles, strangely enough he hasn’t been on since.
