We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies

1494

Scottish football has afforded defending champions the courtesy of a home game on the first day of the season to allow the league championship flag to be unfurled at the start of the new campaign for as many decades as I remember.

As this has, in effect, become a courtesy to give Celtic a home start to the campaign in as many years as my sons can remember, we’ll be at Tynecastle on the opening day of the season. Flag Day will have to wait.

That said, I like the idea of taking on Hearts away, then our nearest challengers, Aberdeen, at home. Come through this successfully and we will be in excellent shape for the campaign.

The Aberdeen game comes immediately after the final round of European qualifiers, so we have an opportunity to finish August in a real high – if we get the preparatory work done early enough.

Bring it on.  We don’t need no stinkin’ courtesies.

  1. Hrvatski Jim : Condolences and prayers at the passing of your dear mother, may she rest in peace. Your post spoke volumes about your love for her. She appears to have been a wonderful mother and human being.

Mothers are extraordinary people and we miss them no matter what age they are when they go home to God. Will pray for you and your family at Mass tomorrow. Sorry to be so late with this but I had problems with the computer earlier.

My thoughts also join with those on here who have expressed their shock and horror at the murder of Jo Cox. It is sad to think of her two children deprived of a mother. My thoughts also go out to her husband. Once more another martyr in the cause of justice and peace for all.

Didn’t explain that very well, meant that we’ve never had two home or two away games scheduled for the start of the season. In 11-12 we chose to cancel the second game that season.

I have assisted the Res 12 guys every single time they have asked for my help. BRTH and Auldheid can confirm.

For that I have been called a liar and now a mason!

The guys have done a great job so far and maybe you should let them get on with things in the way that they have decided?

If you feel you have a right to know all that they know email them or call them and tell us how you get on.

They will speak when they are ready to do so.

The opening league fixtures will give Brendan the perfect opportunity to assess his squad in the two potentially most challenging games……..with the added bonus of still being within the transfer porthole.

This upcoming fixture against Inter on August 13th in Limerick is organised by Charlie Stillitano’s organisation Relevent Sports, 55th Street, New York.

Charlie is the guy that has held talks with the big five clubs in England where the Champions League format was discussed.

I think Paul67, has discussed these and other talks before.

The date in Limerick is part of the ICC competition happening in Europe,US,China and Australia.

It’s good that Celtic are involved in this company. A note of caution is that Charlie Stillitano is the guy who apparently thinks that Celtic v Sevco in Wembley is a good idea.

If Charlie Stillianto has his way we can count on a few more fixture changes.

‘Whether the club release a statement or not is not where the action is.’

    ###

    Mibaes aye, and mibaes naw.

But there were some fairly strong hints (from what I take to be some of those involved) that a statement was imminent.

Personally I’m neither up nor down about Res 12, I regard it as a comparatively minor issue when the same club narrative is being accepted and promoted by the regulatory authorities with not a whiff of dissent from Celtic.

But I suspect I’m one of very few in that regard.

Not to worry. As the old saying goes ‘only dead fish swim with the stream.’

Having organised the ad in the Sunday Herald last year on the new entity then I am signing from same hymn sheet as you.

Indeed that’s exactly why I have such a spring in my step these days.

As I understand it the club told a group of supporters that they would issue a statement. Those supporters know what they heard. The club might still do it – I have no idea. All I am saying is personally I am not bothered one way or the other.

  21. ROI won’t mind this, as Italy might not be fully wound up for third game, Conte or not.

  22. 2nd set of games not as good, but late goals are adding a bit of drama to most so far.

Italia join France in last 16 with a game to spare.

I’m sad that our New Year Glasgow derby has been taken away. It was good for the city’s top two clubs to meet at that time. All spoiled because of the new mob of course. All of the media fixture coverage perpetuates the Big Lie; they are “back” etc etc. And of course the dread phrase “o** f***” is everywhere.

Just keep repeating the truth: neither of the clubs with the word Rangers in their name has ever played in the SPFL Premiership before.

  25. W C

Tetchy. I did not call you a mason. In fact I didn’t call you anything. What I did say was that the ‘I know:you don’t know’ approach is not bridging the info gap between those in the know and those who are interested. The res bhoys all went out on a limb at crunch time to defend the club’s officials and their commitment to a shared journey. Morrisey’s description was that an open goal had been created and that it was up to the club to decide to shoot. He seemed unconvinced they would shoot.

If the club are now changing tack, but that the view is they are no longer needed that needs a bit of explanation to understand given the previous concerns around the status of who could actually raise issues and have these actioned.
