We spoil the league

782

Illustrating the very high regard the business community and people of Barcelona hold Celtic fans, one of the city’s top restaurants, Cinc Sentis have donated lunch for two towards our annual charity causes.

I am assured by our resident food critic (WDH), Cinc Sentis is a fabulous dining experience.  The auction has just gone live – so get a low bid in early – and ends Sunday.  If you’re heading to Barcelona next week, or anytime thereafter, get your eBay bid in here.

Many thanks to Cinc Sentis and WDH.

Read lots yesterday about the vast majority of people in Scotland missing the ‘Old Firm’ games.  Trying hard to inoculate myself against any “bravado” I really don’t see this.  The edge we used to feel when going into the final minutes of a game needing a goal is no longer there, but I’m really not sure that edge is healthy or necessary.

More than this, I don’t know a single fan from another Premiership club who regrets the liquidation of Rangers, or feels their life is enhanced by the presence of Celtic.  Everyone is aware of the harsh reality – we spoil the league.

We do, of course, sell copy, as did the liquidated lot.

Let’s put this to bed as far as CQN is concerned. I’ve put together a survey to answer whether us CQNers want them back. Click on the link below and answer the question. I’ll post the results both later today and tomorrow

LNS was a panel of three guys. It was not just his decision. Charles Flint QC and Nicholas Stewart QC made up the panel also. Now I dont know which hat they had in that day. Their Masonic or UEFA hat as one sits on the UEFA FFP comittee and the other on UEFAs Licensing comittee. I think you should have mentioned that along the lines that they wanted to be duped by an old pal.

    ==================

Be that as it may, the conditions for being duped were set by other than the judges. They could not judge on what had not been presented as part of the evidence.

if and probably when quit the nasty bigoted cabal that run Scottish football ,it will be a more competitive league but it will attract little or know sponsorship or tv coverage, because it will be lacking in any quality, about as competitive a two old ladies racing against each other to cross the road,if you don’t believe me just watch a live match between any two sides in spl

outwith ourselves playing each other it’s crap,These teams only raise their game when we come to town just ask Strachan

Thanks for the signature and the concern Kevin is doing well. Wrote this on his sister’s facebook today:

Tom Minogue Kevin has indeed made a remarkable, early recovery, but he still has a way to go and his progress is being monitored closely by staff at the Victoria Terrace Convalescence Home, Dunfermline (Big House). Without wishing to put a damper on things, and before we get all dewy-eyed Kevin’s recovery is not without its problems and has divided the staff at the home, ̶M̶u̶m̶ ̶ female staff are of the opinion that he needs a few more weeks here, while male staff are keen to see him move on to the next stage of recovery..moving to his own flat, as he is eating all the best chocs from the sweetie tins that were for Xmas. Male staff reckon if Kevin is fit enough to eat all the Tangy Orange Creams from the Roses Selection tin and give ̶D̶a̶d̶ male staff lip, then he is ready for a move and may soon be voted out of the Big House. The donation made to Tim & Friends will be all the bigger without the drain on resources caused by Kevin’s appetite.

  9. Met a Deadclub fan, from Dumfries last night, at a dinner I was at in Birmingham.

Nice guy, very intelligent in general conversation.

Embarrassed by everything that has gone on at the club he once followed and attended one Sevco game before he decided to spend Saturday afternoons trying to reduce his handicap at golf.Told me he and at least four other members of his golf club are of a similar mindset on the Newclub and it’s owners.

He even said that David Murray should be jailed.

There are far more of them out there deserting Sevco than I thought.

Scottish MSM are peddling a giant myth about the loyalty of their previous fan base.

  10. 82% did not say it was much worse. Modern statistics is rubbish. According to 3% of CQN posters.

  11. Considering that we are unbeaten in the league, and are only 5 points clear,I personally think shows how much our league has improved since the scum died. The job being done at ICT is remarkable. Also Dundee U.A resurgent Aberdeen,is great for our game. When in the last 20 odd years have we witnessed this in our game?.Just who misses that mob?.Not any fans of the other clubs I am sure.Drivel being spun by hurting huns.Cannot stand the fact they are not at the top table.

Although an atheist myself, I have always struggled to understand how otherwise good people could support a Club who wouldn`t sign a player because of his religion. I always knew that if Celtic did that, I would have found it very easy to stop supporting them.

I was asked recently how I distinguished between a Hun and a Rangers (sic) supporter. I replied,

” A hun would never wear green but a Rangers supporter would. I have never met a Rangers supporter who would wear green.”

Exactly, I made the same point y/day – unbeaten yet only 5 clear shows how well Inverness have been doing.

Heaven forbid if they maintain their form and we eventually lose a couple, we will not be spoiling any league then!

  16. 100% of people could say they miss them.

That would only be possible if I wasn`t in the poll 0:-)

Your point is spot on , though. What difference does it make ? There cannot ever be another Old Firm game. Indeed, as far as I was concerned, there never was. There were games where Celtic played Rangers but there was no OF in my mind.

As oldco Rangers are not liquidated yet can that be salvaged in the same way Dunfermline have and Hearts might be via a CVA or is it doomed?

I know it is highly unlikely or almost impossible but strange things happen in this country with that mob. Could we have zombie Rangers and oldco Rangers around.

  18. I wonder if any Lapdogs followed up McColl’s allegation of threats against him and his gang?

  19. Traditionalist and Turkeybhoy.

I agree. Further, five points ahead after fourteen games makes a nonsense of the way so many people take it for granted we will win the League. Of course I believe we will but I am not of the foregone conclusion persuasion.

I think LNS’s tortuous reasoning was on the lines that “they could have found other revenue sources, apart from tax avoidance, to buy the same players.”

That is as convincing an argument as saying “Look I’ve got the money to pay for it!”, when you have been caught shoplifting.

Great analogy.Highlights the ridiculousness of the whole inquiry. Not entirely blaming LNS.I think he was led down an alley, then someone put the lights out.

    …………………………..

No the story I heard from a man who was on the plane said he was going out for a new wife when electric storm forced airliner to land at a military air base and this was in the summer recess when half the Judges and QCs staff etc who man the courts were crapping it in case the papers got the story and checked the passenger list.

Magic Circle on tour so to speak.

That is how I heard it in a throwaway remark by a Thai wife 4 time loser.

He reckoned that the wifes appear innocent till they get a visa and then the only way to get them interested in bed is to throw a heavy wallet on the bedside table!

Never heard of any scandal re LNS in the Thai scene though. He dismissed all roumours of that in his report and it is just a coincidence that all of those he cleared seem to have turned up in Thailand.

Remember we have a game in hand and have one game left of a European run that started almost a month before the domestic season started. I would predict Celtic will go on a serious run now banging in a few goals and stretch our lead further over the next month or so. Hopefully beef the squad up in January and be out of sight by Paddy’s Day.

ME, About 1962 when serving my apprenticeship in Rosyth I was lured down to London for a week by mates staying there in Blackheath.

Then as I said crisps was a good pub here, but on Sunday morning the boys took us to a pub on the heath at Blackheath and there were cold pork sausages, sanwiches, crisps etc Free Gratis.

It was like that scene from Treasure Island when Ben Gunn gets some cheese. We were like animals scoffing these treats while the locals looked on in amazement and disgust.
