Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Just can’t understand the continual negativity of some Celtic supporters. I’d give it up if I felt that way about the club.

  2. Im reading some crap on here this morning

Malcontents shock jock believers 9 out of 10 supporters didnt want Fletcher in Willo window and Newcastle and Spurs supporters wish they were us Jesus wept!

Bottom line is that our board take our money promise us if we sell someone we will invest in team then when we do sell they spin that we need to service our debt

The board spin lost revenue aka thems and people on here believe them the board spin how much we pay for players and people believe them

1 Stephen Fletcher was told by Petrie a deal was agreed with Celtic and PL would be calling his agent to get things sorted NO phone call came

2 when we signed Hoovield and Rasmussan press told us that each cost over 1 m At press conference Mark Venus confirmed that total fee for both wasnt even 1m

So while MSMs spin is correctly ridiculed some on here seem to believe every word our board deem to tell them

Today I am excited to be a Celtic supporter, today I remember the journey it has been as a Celtic supporter, the highs and the lows of following Celtic all over Europe.

Today it matters not a jot to me about any personal grudge or burning resentment I might have against our club, I will leave those to the side for today because our Young Lions need all the support they can get in what might prove to be a tough away match.

Today I don’t give a flying feck about agendas, bank balances, transfer windows, players agents, inflated wages, sky tv,sevco, oldco, ballco et al

Because today Celtic are playing in what will be our biggest game of the season so far.

Today I am 100% commited to Celtic no ifs and buts or maybes..

I’m with you on that. I do wonder what the point is. I think on here though there is the internet factor to deal with. I have one good pal who is a real whinger about everything Celtic, never has much good to say and we usually disagree. When we talk about it it never descends in to argument. When he texts me during or after games if it has gone badly I usually end up blanking him. People get more extreme and defensive ‘electronically’ for some reason.

So on here the lack of a CB and CF so far in the transfer window can turn in to a full scale thesis (or is it faeces?) about the short comings of a Board and indviduals working at the club that very few of us on here know anything much about.

    Today:

Going into a Champions League qualifier with a good chance of qualification after dispatching a Finnish team without a problem even recording an away win in Europe.

League Champions having reached the finals of all domestic trophies.

Another huge game for Lenny and his his ingenues tonight, and for the club’s medium term prospects. These kids are galloping into their professional careers, and tonight is the latest opportunity to show how far they’ve come, and learn some more about what it takes to be a part of a successful team at the highest level in the Game.

There’s no telling how this tie will play out, but I’ve been totally engaged these past 2 years by the way they’ve gone about their business, and I expect more thrills and bumps in the coming season.

Every positive sevco story should be laughed at and taken with bucket loads of salt.

Thus has it been for ever and a day, particularly so since the late ’90’s when things were starting to unravel for them.

Your 9.04 post shows that you in a better light than the vast majority of your posts. I think most on here accept that you are a passionate supporter of Celtic but surely they have a point that you could be a bit more balanced in your positive/negative ratio in posting?

I know I am not particularly evenly balanced in mine but that is because the MSM grossly outweigh in favour of the negatives so I try to counterbalance that bias. Give it a try. I am sure you will enjoy more being a Celtic supporter if you do,

Too many are quick to jump on the bandwagon……How many times did our lot regurgitate the old lie that rangers were broke and therefore walter had no funds etc…

    ++++++

Good post, but I do disagree with this bit. It wasn’t a lie, they were indeed broke. HBoS were already knocking at their door in the run up to the takeover by Lloyds. They were under pressure to tighten their spending. Strange that they were able to go out and buy Davis after being knocked out by Kaunas that year, as well as all those other players.

    Perhaps not though.

Didn’t Ticketus (or Whyte??) say that the deal with Whyte was similar to one used by the previous owners. I wonder how far back the mortgages on future earnings actually went and why the club was really sold for only a pound – consider a ‘deal’ with HMRC might have seen their debts paid off at £20m or so, surely the former club was still worth more than that solitary pound coin.

I’ve thought about this for a while and I genuinely think that when Kaunas knocked them out of the CL that Murray actually panicked knowing that another year without the League and associated CL money, meant crowds of 20,000 or so – remember the ‘we deserve better’ mob?

A look at the former club’s accounts in 2009 is revealing, in that they had a short term debt (falling due within one year) of around £40m as well as more debt due after one year of a similar amount. Included in the accounts are deferred income during and over the one year period of around £27m (I recognise that figure from somewhere). I wonder what deliverable goods were sold for that money – a tranche of ticket sales perhaps?

Point is: they were skint; they really couldn’t afford to give Myth any money.

Bizarrely, and ultimately helping them toward to their downfall, they couldn’t afford not to either.

  27. Steinreignedsupreme on

    Aye.

I’m loving all the ‘record attendance for a fourth-tier Scottish football match’ stories – as a Celtic supporter I simply can’t relate to that situation.

Our club will never be in the bottom league in Scotland.

And while the Scottish media and followers of the Sevco Franchise are getting excited about almost selling-out their match against East Stirling – on the other side of Glasgow someone is polishing the European Cup.

  28. MSM are salivating over what happens to the ‘Ki money’ but absolutely nothing on the Sevco policy of continuing to live outwith actual or projected means.

Where is the 30m? who are the investors? how can a single payment from ST sales of 10m be enough to run a club which needs circa 1m each month to operate?

  29. Kev Jungle

and the board was fighting against a cheating and corrupt rival, I would say that winning THOSE Titles alone makes this board by far one the best in the History of Celtic Football Club…

  30. Flicking through the rags in the supermarket this morning, you can smell the fear in the words of the MSM who are ‘reporting’ on our game tonight. Qualification for the CL gives us great leeway to strengthen the squad, extend contracts ( as well as service the debt ;)

An away goal would be fantastic preferably if its a winner!

In a separate point, i see the Highland derby between ICT + RC has been switched to Friday Oct 5th. If we are successful in making the CL i wonder if the SPL will want to help the Scottish co-efficient by moving some of our games to a Friday night to help us prepare, such as countries like France + Italy do for their sides?
