Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Kevjungle the malcontents were not the rebels they were the people reading about skelly eyed Fergus and beleiveing every piece of crap that the daily record could sling at them. Big difference between positive change and permanently challenged.

Smell the green grass. Celtic are almost back at the top table. My Spurs and Geordie mates would give a lot to be in our position. But I respect anyones right to be miserable. Whatever rings yar bell. Hail Hail.

    Ah……Where to begin ?

    You know what…

To cut a long story short

PL has been driving Celtic FC towards a slow car-crash since 2003!!!

    So there !!!

Celtic PLC will now park the bus in the lay-by and, wait for the huns coming back up the motorway! IMO!

But hey, what do I know ?

    Laugh it off.

It’s sad that the press agenda continues to influence people even though the MSM have been totally exposed for their incompetence, particularly in the last 18 months.

I have daily access to one Scottish tabloid, which I have to check as part of my job. Over the last 10 years I have watched this tabloid transform into a Third Division version of Viz.

If they put as much effort into doing proper work instead using that energy to portray Celtic in a negative light and project the Sevco Franchise to a parallel universe, the sales figures would not be dropping through the floor.

Today’s effort is hysterical – the use of pictures, the negative headlines and the sense of panic in every story relating to Celtic is literally, erm … of the scale.

It’s great to know they are hurting this much.

sadly not really a surprise to hear so many malcontents whinging about a club which has been well run for the past few years

It’s dawning on me that there is no place in football especially not Scottish football for a well run club. A well run club will get devoured by its own fans when failing to deliver on honest investment while it’s competitors enjoy the spoils of success gained through immoral, illegal or questionable means.

Getting caught red handed for such behaviour is no deterrent as there is no punishment, mere consequences.

    ==================================================

It seems so. Sad really. And I think the increased volume of whining on here of late is perhaps as much to do with the bull plop coming from New Rangers and tehir gazillions of pounds and season book holders.

I think that because they have done two things that have surprised us – sold a fair amount of tickets and brought in a better standard of player than we expected – people are getting jittery.

But there is no need. It is once more, as usual, MSM inspired hype. The MSM have acted as a New Rangers propaganda and advertising outlet. They told people Season Books were in high demand thus creating demand as people got caught up in the hype. Theyt are now deciding they are stuck with Green so they are getting behind him and acting as his cheerleaders. A month or so ago they were looking for his head on a plate and backing Bomber Brown and asking all sorts of awkward questions about title deeds – questions that haven’t been answered incidentally. Now they are his lapdogs.

It seems that Scottish Sports Journalists, like Rangers fans really crave the ‘nearest male authority figure in a pair of brown brogues’ as our Phil puts it.

Personally looking at the evidence before me I think this is the honeymoon period for sevco and the gang(sters), it’s the golden age, the height of their achievements, as good as it gets. If they had one eye on the future they might not be so cheery and some of our more nervous fans might not be so touchy……..

  8. Honest Mistake

The next few months will show if there are ‘punishments’ both at club and personal levels….

This will only be the case if football penalties (assuming titles are stripped of course) like 10 points deductions when returning to SPL 1 for several seasons, and if the TAX case is proven then the individuals are hunted down and made accountable.

It is frustrating that their ‘bounce’ seems to be satisfying their folks more than our ‘big fish in small pond’ situation which is (with the exception of still being stuck in SPL) not of our making…

  9. Burnley78

I think that particular spell in Celtic’s history needs to be treated with a bit more respect.

As a matter of interest, I wonder how many of the movement feel unhappy about the way that the club is run now?

However, mainly the mood is very positive with people like myself asking why we have failed to shore up a tepid and immobile front line .. Others are saying a solid CB is required ( I feel we can get by without one)

Celts are in a good place the vast majority realise that and we should have enough to get past the Swedish Champs over 2 legs

From what I saw in Helsinki two weeks ago we might even sneak a win with Joe Ledley running beyond the striker Sammi

  24. Not too dissapointed with Dave leaving – one of these types of players who is too good for Scottish football.

He was brilliant in European games but limited in league games – sums up our standard of football to be honest.

Like Arteta, I think he will flourish down south.

One thing that annoys me about the fee which no-one seems to have mentioned….

Commercially alone with the Asian market, he must be worth at least £2 mill a year in shirt sales and merchandise.

Does that mean he is only valued at £4 mill for his footballing ability?

My own view is he is therefore worth £8 mill but I suppose he is only worth what someone will pay…..

  25. SteinReigned – that’s what I was trying to say!!!

We would do well to remember that tonight we take on the Swedish Champions in a Champions League Qualifier – 2 winnable games away from a £15 Million pot and some great nights at Celtic Park. If we mess up we are playing in Europes Second competition with about £6 Million on offer if we don’t stay in it after Christmas and some great nights at Celtic Park in prospect.

Sevco are playing sometime this week (I don’t know when because I don’t care) in the second Ramsdens Cup against Falkirk with the prosepct of a glamour tie with Partick or some such big west of scotland club should they progress. You would think the MSM would die of embarrassment at having to turn up and report on games like that let alone turn it in to some great positive.

Oh and these millions they are bringing in while claiming to be rangers then, rangers now and rangers forever – I hope the tax man is counting……….

And before I go someone needs to tell Jabba that £10 Million in season book money is pre tax. At a conservative estimate that’s it down to £7.5 Million if they see fit to actually pay some tax this year (sure there are no consequences if they don’t but hey). Jabba thinks the wage bill is £7 Million. Operating costs Jabba? Keeping on top of the asbestos dome?

Green might not be making any money at all even with the billions of loyal fans who are spending £280 each on season books.

    And no one mention Ticketus………………….

I think the tricky bit on signing players in this window is that no one would find our domestic environment remotely interesting….players or agents…

Had we signed Fletcher then he would not have realised half the value that he will do from Wolves….etc……our options for signings will be last minute at very best I fear.

Have a great day and hopefully get a great result…who knows we might even knock Falkirk v Rangers off the back page….well maybe in Aftonblaadet anyway ?

Some of them are attention seekers and some of them are just dimwits.

And you can generally tell where all of them are coming from when you try to engage them in debate. When it’s not worth bothering about just ignore them.

The tonic is always a Celtic victory – they all disappear off the blog when we are winning.

  29. Latest from Sverige, their goalie will be fit in time for the game after a bout of the tonsils.

Hansson is a very good goalie. Their most important player imo is still out Lindstöm.

Get it right Lenny and hopefully the whole team will turn up tonight, a draw or a single goal win either way.

    KTF

  30. Key for tonight is that we settle in quickly to the game. We are often guilty of giving away cheap chances early in these type of games and going to pieces for a spell, giving the opposition too much encouragement.

Would like to see us smother their midfield, get a platfrom from which to play and then take the game to them later on. Give them absolutely nothing. Tight, tight, tight. Closing down at every opportunity and simple pass and move when we have it.

We should win but this is Celtic and it comes with guarantee of a rollercoaster ride – so we’ll see.

  31. I see Neil has been put in his place

He said after the finish game that he was hopefully of bringing in new faces

He made a mistake and did not talk to his boss

He has now been briefed that he will receive virtually none of any money brought in on Ki

I thought he would get half of it at least

We are really not supporting the manager
