Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

If we fail to get 7/8/9/10 in a row then its time for a regime change?

There can’t have been many periods in Celtic’s history where Celtic were good enough for you then.

  2. Just noticed this on the TV schedules:

“Live and exclusive coverage of Celtic’s crucial Champions League qualifier against Helsingborgs, with analysis from top guests. Presented by Raman Bhardwaj with commentary by Rory Hamilton.”

Who is Rory Hamilton? Surely he will be a step up, a very big step up, from the usual suspects?

The beauty of living in a Swiss valley Vogue is most of the punters and my neighbours have no idea why I’m roaring and shouting every time Celtic play…

My Starry Plough flag has had a few admiring comments from said neighbours when hanging out the window.

No bands to disturb the tranquility here mate of a summer morning, perfect it’s not but I don’t see us coming back to Salmonds Scotland anytime soon..

    Bring on the Swedes..

  4. Just asked my wee hun ‘friend’ in the work ” are you watching the gemme tonight”?

His reply ‘naw,we’re playing in the Ramsden cup’ left me without words ,for once.

  5. Oh, another thing I meant to ask. Has Ki actually been sold? No mention on the Celtic site.

Yes I agree, but they have got better at it lately, its more financial now, than sectarian, as it was in the 50’s 60’s 70’s.

They were that bad at cheating that Celtic won 13 out of 20 Titles the 20 years prior to Souness.

As a matter of fact if , and I know its a big IF, they are stripped of their titles and they are given to Celtic then that would make the running total, Them 49 Celtic 48 hardly an endorsement of 125 years of cheating……

If those figures are not exact, I apoloigise lol..

That’ll be why the Falkirk stadium announcer has been suspended…..l for his own personal safety tonight…….

  8. Any more bids in for Ki yet? Swansea seem to be in pole position but others were reportedly interested.

Massive game tonight. A win would be brilliant of course but an away draw and a home second leg would be fine with me.

  9. Good luck to the “Bhoys”tonight,we can do this.Hail Hail.

£5m for Ki,must admit ,if true,I am disappointed by this,I would had thought he was worth £8m,I suppose when you have the powers to be ,in Scottish football, talking the game down,we must expect to be treated as a third rate football league.HH.

  10. cmon the hoops

a positive result tonight (wishing for a 2-0 win)

and this sets us up nicely for the window closing, nee slamming shut and competing

in the worlds premier club competiton until christmas at least.

bottom line is we dont need to buy to win the SPL this year.

there are a load of young guys champin’ at the bit to get into action and have the ability to do so, maybe not all at once but by drip feeding them into the side we will see some wonderful talent emerging…watt, mcgeough, fraser, irvine, keatings, slane, ibrahim (is he still here), twardziks’, toshney, fisher.

all these lads could walk into any other SPL side, time to unleash them.

yes of course we would all love a messi, a vidic and a schweinsteiger marauding about in hoops. in fact i think we just would all like to see a rhodes, henriksen and ciani

suppliment our talented squad which we could probably push to, once we qualify but would it really be needed?

With the plethera of talent we have bubbling under the surface?

id much rather see watt, irvine and fraser step up and prove that our years of tutoring and fortunes spent on academies and youth development is going somewhere worthwhile.

till such times as we are in a higher league we should be showing off and play our talented youths and selling on like we have done with petrov, mcgeady and now ki once

    they have blossomed.

but you know one thing…ill always support the celtic whoever plays.

and you know whats even sweeter…

we have never had to cheat and swindle our way to where we are.

    hail hail

noo lets get pumped right intae these swedes

Not be on for a few weeks but good luck to the hoops tonight. massive game and hope it gives us the building block towards CL qualification next week.

One thing I find funny reading the blog is how many over-react to what is in the papers. The main attraction for participating in this blog for me is that I usually get much better information here than in any newspaper- as well as it being Celtic focused and humorous on the odd occassion. The blog is anti-lazy journalism – yet many still react to MSM stories and use that misinformation to slag off Celtic, the board, peter Lawell or whoever. We are all entitled to our opinions – and it would be boring if we were all thinking the same, but sometimes we need a deep breathe, thank God we support Celtic and ignore MSM rantings (particularly on the eve of a big match).

HH and onwards to the CL

  12. Morning all, from a pleasant Chilterns with a warm refreshing Zephyr…

Looking forward to the game tonight, I predict a win over the two legs so a result tonight will do.

Posted after the Korea Brazil game that if we had any desire to compete in Europe we need to keep players like Ki.

See the Board are getting more criticism for their lack of Ambition.

Here’s my take; we paranoid Tims believed we were competing with a staked deck, we now know this was the case, we passionate Tims believe Celtic are a unique and brilliant Club.

The shackles are off this Season the PLC can now show if they share our ambition to see Celtic as a force in Europe.

  13. The MSM are as much a laughing-stock as the SFA.

The argument that they are only protecting their sales figures is laughable.

The staggering amount of interest, which is still only a fraction of what it could be, not just in Scotland but throughout the world would send their sales sky-rocketing, IF they had the balls to print the truth and truly expose the rampant corruption in the game, especially the Sevco Franchise (geez I laughed at the story from Falkirk – even if the reaction to it was utterly pathetic).

Even here in Oz, there are so many colleagues at work as me what’s the latest with fiasco FC.

This isn’t just a football story, indeed, the footballing component is rather small.

The real truth is that almost all the MSM in Scotland is firmly under the control of those hidden forces which have maintained their religious and racist bigotry for over 100 years. It is utterly shameful in this day and age when so many headlines talk of sexual discrimination and the like, not a word is printed about the organised discrimination throughout Scottish society.

My suggestion to the pathetic huns who are threatening all sorts of retaliation because someone dared to describe them as Sevco Franchise:

You wonder why people want to see the back of you? Everything about you is hateful, utterly repugnant. I pray to God that we never see your horrible club in the top-flight ever again. I certainly won’t miss the massed vomit erupting from the stands.

Personally, I think the Falkirk announcer should call you “The Rangers Football Club Limited, formerly known as Sevco Scotland Ltd, formerly known as Sevco 5088, which has arisen from the ashes of the soon to be liquidated club called Rangers Football Club PLC”. Now who could argue with that? It is wholly accurate after all.

It was the juxtaposition between Champs league/Ramsdens cup that got me.

ps. Bada ,aye I did spellcheck it.

  15. An interesting read and when you see how far down the ratings Scotland has fallen you can see how we have done very well to attract the bright young things to the club that we have right now.

A result over these two games would go a long way to being able to attract a decent calibre of player to the club over the rest of this window and the january window.

    C’mon you Bhoys in Green

  16. VOGUEPUNTER. So you work for a living,it must have been heartbreaking for you to get off the big Armchair, nearly fell of my stool laughing ,anyway the way i see it to-night a win or a draw is ok, but if we lose well.

Your post at 9:02am reminded me of simpler times, before the Timternet when we simply supported our club, not blindly, as ‘Celts for Change’ was testament to, but we realised how fortunate we were just to call ourselves Celtic supporters and often that was enough.

Down here in London we will have the English ITV commentators for the match tonight,Clive Tyldesly with Andy Townsend. In the studio are Adrian Chiles with GS, Gareth Southgate and Lee Dixon!

Full production for the famous Glasgow Celtic>

    3-1 to the Good Ghuys!

  21. Charles Green quickly realised he could, with the aid of the msm in Scotland, and the backing of the threatening element of the sevcovians, say anything he liked, claim anything he liked and have it taken as holy writ. His burbling acolyte, Master McCoist has realised he’s onto a good thing with his gaffer and issues equally pompous guff and between them they are further alienating themselves and their violent follow followers from the rest of the footballing world and taking the game in Scotland even deeper into disrepute.

The sevcovians are the cause of this mess, they continue as ever, and they will absolutely destroy the professional game in Scotland if they are not brought to book in a meaningful manner and desist from their ongoing contemptuous arrogance.

Their PR dept., the msm, in particular the rags passing themselves off as newspapers, need to take a long hard look at themselves……their sales are falling through the floor and all they seem to want to do is keep the sevcovians onside. That is not economics, as the likes of Keevins and Jabba would have us believe……merely craven pandering, misinformation and basic cowardice.

Looking at the big picture were bubbling along nicely,I believe we’ve take this next step tonight because we are good enough.

  23. I hadn`t realised that Sevco were playing tonight. The way the MSM has responded, it is easy to forget that Rangers in disguise are a busted flush (whatever that is)but tonight`s fixtures are a powerful reminder of the gulf between the two clubs. Celtic are in Europe`s top competition, Sevco are in the Pawn Shop Cup!

The guy below is STV go to guy. for Sevco. As I have asked before how can you get someone removed for constant abusive tweets??

Think I’m watching the game @ hame this evening.

Now Being in England I get ITV as default

    Howevah

I do have STV programmed into SKY.

Now what one do I go with????

Celtic is the gift, always was always will be if I lose sight of that I’m not long in giving myself a boot up the arse, I have no resentment that I love so much that it would keep me from my club!!

It’s not perfect at Celtic it never has been but the modern obsession with having a bad guy to blame everything on drives me insane, if something is not working it’s usually a combination of factors to try and individualize a massive project like Celtic to one or two guys is not practical or truthful..

    Mon the Hoops

  27. Chairboy…..I think I’ll stick with the English version, perhaps they won’t mention the Buns so often!

  28. 2-1 To the Bhoys tonight ,Sammi and Commons ,next week in paradise 4-0 for Celts.

Do not put money on this .
