Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Glad to catch you. I was away for a few days and only caught up with the blog last night.

I am sorry if you saw my comment to you about South Africa as abusive. That certainly wasn’t my intention. I was attacking your approach to the issue rather than you personally.

I first heard of the massacre on my way to work and when I eventually logged into CQN, you had pre-empted any comment by decrying the lack of comment thus far as proof of double-standards against the backdrop of Apartheid.

I felt that was unfair and unjustified because you did not give people the chance to discuss the issue before you attacked one side, as you saw it, for perceived hypocrisy.

I just wanted to explain the reasons behind my comment.

    Thanks.

I have absolutely no problem with a ” full and frank exchange”.

We have both seen abuse on here.

I never considered your contribution to be in that category.

Mate,I have a particular affinity with Africa, which makes me a bit prickly on the subject.

Won`t tell you my opinion of Gillard.:-)

    Probably wouldn`t have to.

I am in no way a big supporter of Gillard, or Australian politics, so wouldn’t be offended by what you might have to say about her. Like Summa said . . . best of a bad bunch.

Do you think Ajax would have let him go for a derisory sum like that?

I have no problem with the Ajax model-I’ve been advocating it as the way forward for years-but we have to get realistic values for our players.

Otherwise we end up selling too many, and the production line dries up.

  8. Looking at a couple of news sites earlier, I noticed a good few sevco supporters having a gloat at Celtic for selling Ki and not giving NL the money to spend.

I guess the irony of them laughing at a rival club for using income to settle debts is lost on that mob

Good evening night shift and good morning day walkers.Van Helsingburg 0 Celtic 2 . Sammi and Kris to score. Hope I can sleep.

Bhoys I wouldn’t worry to much about the bad news stories coming from the daily rager etc it comes with our success. The worse the story the better we are doing. Yous only get 6-8 million and don’t get to spend it – nightmare. Boring. If we get in the CL I would be very confident of a new CF on transfer d – day. Why would we want to spend valuable time wasting dealing with overpriced agents if we signalled we were a buying club. As an aside how many on here were shattered when Celtic didn’t buy Fletcher . Really. Opportunity missed , don’t think so. Fair play to Stephen Fletcher he has maximised his worth but I doubt one in one hundred on here would have been happy if we had signed him way back. Maybe there is a lesson somewhere. Happy to see what Neil and the team bring to our team by the end of transfer deadline. Not often I get to sit and watch Celtic live on the tele although if we win this game it could change for this season. Hail Hail the celts are here . Big King of Kings party in Helsingborg.

  17. In the lead up to a huge game for our club it might sound odd to some that a club which has paid its debts, won the league, run efficiently given it’s environment, is getting abused by many malcontent followers whilst another across the city which has been in meltdown has it’s support backing it significantly despite playing in the 4th tier of scottish football and being run by a very questionable individual with virtually no transparency…..

s sadly not really a surprise to hear so many malcontents whinging about a club which has been well run for the past few years

Cannot wait for the game tonight. I would predict a team but no idea how we will set up with all our midfield options.

3-5-2? 4-4-1-1? 4-1-3-2? I bet the Helsingborg manager is wondering the same.

  25. Morning all from a watery North Ayrshire.

Big big day for Scottish football, as we try to get a place in the group stages of the Champions League, while Radio Scotland seem to be under the illusion that thon deid new team’s game against Falkirk is worthy of equal mention. Sociologists (or whoever study such matters) will look back on this period in Scottish media reporting with wonder and disbelief.

You are right re Celts for change, it may not have happened so quickly if not for them.

If it wasnt for the malcontents moaning and whinging when 7 points ahead in the league then GS would have won 4 in a row ……. It doesnt take much for these folks to fall in line with an old media agendas (Caldwell / Samaras etc not Celtic class …not playing Celtic way, anti GS etc) to destabilise our club when we are doing things right…..

Too many are quick to jump on the bandwagon……How many times did our lot regurgitate the old lie that rangers were broke and therefore walter had no funds etc..

What options do we have re new players ? Tell me who would come to play in a league like ours right now given any choice ? I am amazed folk like Hooper are still here..

The one thing the board have got badly wrong is not agitating more strongly for change in environment from 2003 onward….They just thought it would happen…..The chance has gone. now it is manage where we are and hope for outside factors to influence.

No amount of agitation for change will improve our lot much, save for reducing PL salary. A lot of agitation will speed up the leveling of the playing field with the new rangers thing IMO. The other lot will align behind a cause which is inspiring despite it’s flaws…..Our lot are less inspired by the potential of domestic dominance …..a weekly diet of what we have had the last few days from the malcontents on here is what we can expect sadly.

Oddly PL’s job is much harder than Charles Green’s and he will not have the kind of jackpot bonanza at the end to aim for…..

  28. KevJungle,

I would have thought from your comments that you would have been happy now your side had won. Are you a spokesperson for Brian Dempsey?

Celtic, imo, have never been better run; thanks primarily to the legacy left by Fergus McCann and Brian Quinn. By they way, I started watching Celtic regularly about 1957; so, I know what it means to support through thick and thin.

sadly not really a surprise to hear so many malcontents whinging about a club which has been well run for the past few years

It’s dawning on me that there is no place in football especially not Scottish football for a well run club. A well run club will get devoured by its own fans when failing to deliver on honest investment while it’s competitors enjoy the spoils of success gained through immoral, illegal or questionable means.

Getting caught red handed for such behaviour is no deterrent as there is no punishment, mere consequences.
