Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Off to continue talking to myself.

  2. A few points on different subjects

    1. All the best to the Bhoys tonight, do us proud!

    2. If Rangers, the SFL, the SPL, the media and all their fans are all insisting publically that they are still the same club that was founded in 1872, how are they going to argue against the HMRC and all the other creditors when they demand their £140m back?

Think you are right, will be interesting to get their take on Celtic.

Though for some strange reason I have a pathological dislike of Gareth Southgate.

I’m sure he’ll struggle to make a positive comment.

Still here’s to a great game and a Celtic Victory.

    Hail! Hail!

That pretty much sums it up for me. There’s things that need improved and things that need to change.

All I’m saying is that a modicum of perspective is required.

  7. Good morning Everyone!

I think the Porto model is flawed – can’t they sign any Brazillian they want due to the way immigration works between Portugal and Brazil?

The Udinese model however is brilliant. They unearth gems who have dual nationalities. They only achieve this through their excellent scouting network.

I do believe I’m just throwing an introspective fit as I’m being driven crazy by The ConDems antics.

I’m also sick sick sick of the sevcovians being allowed and encouraged to continue in exactly the same vein as their poisonous predecessors.

But…. I believe we will win,and win well tonight and next week if our passing is accurate and our goalscorers are on song.

So much to think about and so few brain cells to do so with.

  10. Miki@10.23

Unfortunately it’s not just the rags spouting that guff. In ths morning’s Herald (my last EVER by the way) they have a two page, TWO PAGE coverage of the Mighty sevco v. Falkirk in the Pawn-Broker’s Cup. They didn’t ignore the other Glasgow team competing in the Champions League play-offs, but decided that they would give more coverage to the fourth tier club.

I’m no bigot and I fully understand the fiscal imperative and need to meet a perceived demand from an established section of the wider reading and paper-buying community, but the level of sycophantic, uncritical drivel that has drooled out of the Herald in recent weeks is nauseating and has finally lead to this reader of over 40 years giving it up. I’m going back to the Guardian that I gave up in the 70’s because of their appalling editing; just hope that’s improved.

By the way what is TSFM?

  11. hamiltontim

When the perspective goes out the window on here this place is like a hoose full of charlie heads all talking about different things at the same time!!

I’m no one for borrowing trouble from the future if I can avoid it, it might never happen and quite often doesn’t, there were a few who were determined that we would get pumped by Helsinki, didn’t happen and though tonight will be a tougher game, I watched that team at the weekend they have a few decent players, I have a feeling we can get a result.

The team we are building step by step is heading in the right direction and that today my friend is enough for me…

    Mon the Celts

  12. Come on the Hoops. Another thing to bear in mind is that the referee tonight cannot possibly be as bad as the Austrian guy in Helsinki who appeared to think football has the same rules as netball.

Morning. I’d like to wish PL and NFL all the best tonight in their quest to bring greatness once again to our team. Good luck to Ki too. Silky footballer and I wish him all the best and he will always have friends at Celtic. Everyone get involved with ‘Wee Oscar For Life’ You know we can so it. HH.

How can a home team defeating another side from the same division in the ‘best league in the world’ be described as a “shock”?

    Is stupidity the new black?

  15. Remember if you do not want to listen to STV guff, you can pick up ITV down south version on Virgin and Sky. Mines is already set for Virgin 853.

  16. I dont like tuesdays for CL games :)))

Wont see game tonight as its my group meeting .

So just on to wish the BHOYS well; 2-1 for us tonight

Enjoy the game tonight Bhoys & Ghirls see yous in paradise next wed to finish the job

    HAIL HAIL

PS If Ki was a player leaving the 2 month old club wages and bonuses would be added and it would be getting reported in the rags as a £10m+ deal

Over 7 and a percentage of any sell on (for a player who wants to leave) is good business in my book.

Again enjoy the hoops and MAY ONLY GOOD THINGS COME YOUR WAY.

  17. Right. After a poorish start, CQN is picking up a bit now. I will add to the continuation of that improvement by signing off now and beginning my rituals to ensure a Celtic victory/draw tonight.

Cheerio to all my fellow Celtic Supporters.

Now is not the time for arguments and the blame game and depending on the kind of result we get tonight there may be no blame game at all.

Any kind of result tonight where Celtic get an away goal (without conceding a load at the other end is a good result).

The most important thing from tonight is to make sure we are in the tie next week and that they are coming to a full Celtic park with the ensuing mad house atmosphere which has made lesser sides than them crumble.

A draw, a narrow defeat or better still a win puts Celtic in a great position.

We have some injury concerns and I would be inclined to only go with fully fit players as there is no point in making them more unfit and unable to play at all next week.

The defense must hold firm and we must try to get one goal away tonight.

If Hooper, Brown and Forrest are not fully fit – bench them. They are there in an emergency. We will need all three fully fit next week and hopefully Stokes can be fit as well.

Samaras can play up front on his own or Tony Watt can play from the start – he is hungry it might work.

A big strong defense is required tonight so play it Neil.

We can speak about transfers and money afterwards.

    Come the hoops.

But they cannot be worse than officials in our last 2 games …Shurely not !

  22. And……as if the msm couldn’t get any worse, apparently today The Herald (sick bag quick) printed a four page puff piece about SevcoScotland (SS f.c.) playing Falkirk in a diddy cup sponsored by Shylock whilst totally ignoring Celtic v Helsingborg in a Champions League Qualifier.

And the horrors wonder why we get apoplectic with rage?

Only in bigoted orange proddy narrow-minded anti-Catholic anti-Irish new home to the worst Loyalist scum rejects from N.I.,Scotland.

The Huns have always had an affectionate relationship with stupidity.

    Re the Guardian:

Spelling and layout are much better.

Steve Bell still has his cartoon every day.

Unfortunately it is more London-centric and has lost its North of England roots.

  25. People on here seem to think if you have a different view from them on how our club is run you just cant be supporters B******s!!

Ive supported Celtic for 50 years and me my father sons and grandsons are as passionate about our club but i believe our boards lack of ambition is holding back our clubs chance of getting in among the elite again

And before any happy clappers jump in i dont want to spend money we dont have

However say Ki goes for 6.3m as quoted and his wages are 500k a year We could buy Rhodes for 4.5m( hughest bid so far 3.5 with add ons from B’burn) pay him good wage and not spend an extra penny

You and board cant have it both ways

PL says all monies brought in goes back into team so cant put Ki money to service debt if he is being honest

  28. Morning all,

Good luck to the lads tonight. I would like to see us flood the middle of the park. Make it hard for them to score and hopefully sneak a goal and come away with a victory or scoring draw.

SSN mentioned that game is available on Sky sports 2 red button.

  29. What’s it going to take for Scotland to rid itself of the growing cancer in its midst. Wilful police ignorance. A complant judiciary. A rigged jury system. ‘Attempted’ bombs, minimised. Bullets in the post. Moronic eejits wandering around waving guns. Familes forced to flee their homes. Attacks in the street. Violent utterings all over every form of media. The puffing up of violent orangeism and its ‘sporting’ wing. A wholly biased msm. Sound familiar? All dismissed as paranoid folly. Yet that is where Scotland is today and football is being used as the medium to perpetrate this ugliness. The SFA and that cretin Ogilvie are a major part of this, are as the likes of Longmuir and the other luj members.

And people are fearful of these cretins. That is how they prosper. They count on fear. It is their manna, their fuel.

“All it takes for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke- attributed to him even though he was otherwise a numpty.)
