Weepy incompetent Newco, belligerent Hearts, be Good to each other

808

The SFA’s statement last night clarifies the immediate future of the game, or lack thereof.  No training will be permitted until at least the 10 June and the professional game can start 6 weeks after training.  Without the lockdown being extended, the earliest behind closed doors football game can take place on 22 July.

It would be possible to complete the Premiership by 19 August.  Today’s proposal by the SPFL keeps this option on the table.

The new league season would need to start immediately thereafter, games would almost certainly be played behind closed doors and Uefa would need to delay the start of Champions and Europa League qualification competitions until the last week in August.  I think this is unlikely, but it remains possible.

I understand that Hearts, four points adrift at the bottom, are lashing out in every direction, but they would be better advised to try to win support for league reconstruction than go down the belligerent route.  Maybe Ann Budge should have retained the bonus scheme and avoided all this stress.

Newco’s anger is a pale shadow of what we saw during the Traynor statement years.  It’s all a bit limp for my palette. I like my Newco statements frothing with anger, typed while standing in fermenting urine-soaked shoes with flute music blaring in the background.  Don’t judge me.

Today’s “legal advisor did not deem our Members Resolution as competent” is so weepy all I feel is pity.

This afternoon’s SPFL vote can change only details for Celtic.  The real battle was to make this season Null and Void and our incompetent friends across the city were chased out of town for that suggestion.  Celtic will be champions; nine-in-a-row is ours, whether achieved on the field or after Uefa issue advice to national associations.

It’s also interesting to watch the paranoia triggers.  Our own sufferers’ gas will be at a peep for a while, whereas Newco’s conspiracy theorists were born for these times.  Do not be like any of them, just because the tide goes against you, doesn’t mean The Man is out to get you!  You’re just a little anxious.

I know this is a Terrible Good Friday, but be Good to each other today – and stay indoors all weekend.

I remember, about 40 years ago, waiting at the lights in Union St, Glasgow to cross.

In front of me was a smartly dressed couple, male an female, holding hands.

The guy then addresses a bloke who has just joined them and says –

“This is the burd am gon oot wae the noo” and addressing the young lady says –

“An this is a guy fae the work!”

  6. It’s been reported that Sevco will refuse to hand over ‘evidence’ of their claims until an ‘independent’ panel is established, presumably one appointed by them.

Basically they want the SPFL to suspend its CEO and set up an independent panel on their say so without any examination of the veracity of their claims.

They’ve gone into the twilight zone of corporate governance.

Such serious accusations need to be stood up or retracted immediately. Failing that the SPFL need to make an example of them.

  10. AD- The huns are obviously bluffing, a ‘whistleblower ‘,and now saying they won’t show ‘evidence ‘,until an inquiry begins, we all know that is not going to happen, they should be told to produce the evidence by Wednesday, or sue them, yet more victim card hun bluster.

After reading and watching some of the stuff that helps you form your opinions I now understand where you are coming from, dangerous politically motivated stuff.

  13. Bada,

The latest pantomime must surely have an ulterior motive?

Surely these accusations put the Huns in the dock for a disrepute charge?

scoddish meeja has them weildin’ the trusty sword o’ struth……doubtless, when we are eventually crowned championes… the meeja will use this as kover to portray our success as part of a tawdry – murky episode rather than the exceptional achievement that it represents.

  14. Ed Woodward seems to have a similar way of running things, at United, as our CEO, with the same kind of objections as to how it’s done, good read on Easter Sunday:

  15. BB- absolutely, put up or we will sue you,and sanction you, but we all know the cowards at Hampden, won’t have the balls for it,I think they are just desperate for any cash that they can get. Just waiting on when we get the blame for this. HH

    I am still laughing :-))

A fine day ( at the moment) in Arbroath so a bike ride beckons ( sorry, ernie).

    Cheerio for now.

  17. It’s strange tho that a company who is desperate for cash seems to be taking steps which may delay that cash coming to them. It only proves the point that it has nothing to do with the cash, but an excuse for not paying some bill that is becoming ever nearer due, could be PAYE OR VAT, and this is the way, either to apportion blame so their fans keep buying the ST’s, or to tell the debtor, if payment is not on time, that they are trying to get their money but are being hindered at every opportunity, and hope they will be lenient on them, when they show them the evidence that they are trying por cierto.

  18. Bada – yep.

A senior Guy with FIFA…is suggesting that after further medical advice UEFA are now about to change their minds about having this seasons games played at ANY Time ?

Apparently…according to the FIFA Guy…..this League season across Europe will be ABANDONED ?

    …….

If true…Are UEFA about to declare the League standings as they are and annonunce champions etc…as surely they would have to in order to know who is playing where in the Champions League and Europa League next season IF Fitba returns later this year ?

What would happen with the Huns and Doncaster etc whether they have “Evidence” of wrongdoing or not ?

  26. I would suspect that Douglas Park and Parks in general are pretty desperate people at the moment. Having piled a shed load of never to be seen again cash into sevco their main business has closed down. No car sales, bus contracts, car servicing, car repairs or MOT’s. In other words zero cash coming in and bills to pay.

I recently bought a new car for Mrs PMTYH from Arnold Clark and it was supposed to have a tow bar fitted in March. The appointment has been cancelled twice and they have given me a date of May 4th when they hope to open up again. I fully expect that to be cancelled too. It is also on their messaging service that all MOT’s required after 31st March will be extended by DVLA by 6 months.

Douglas Park will be thinking like a hun and a desperate man – a dangerous combination for logical thought.

  28. Rangers financial plight, which was the only financial mess in Scottish football, has now been tossed in along with every other clubs plight now as if they are all one and the same. A League payment would alleviate 99% clubs of those money troubles but at one club, it wouldn’t even pay the paperboy por cierto.
