Weepy incompetent Newco, belligerent Hearts, be Good to each other

808

The SFA’s statement last night clarifies the immediate future of the game, or lack thereof.  No training will be permitted until at least the 10 June and the professional game can start 6 weeks after training.  Without the lockdown being extended, the earliest behind closed doors football game can take place on 22 July.

It would be possible to complete the Premiership by 19 August.  Today’s proposal by the SPFL keeps this option on the table.

The new league season would need to start immediately thereafter, games would almost certainly be played behind closed doors and Uefa would need to delay the start of Champions and Europa League qualification competitions until the last week in August.  I think this is unlikely, but it remains possible.

I understand that Hearts, four points adrift at the bottom, are lashing out in every direction, but they would be better advised to try to win support for league reconstruction than go down the belligerent route.  Maybe Ann Budge should have retained the bonus scheme and avoided all this stress.

Newco’s anger is a pale shadow of what we saw during the Traynor statement years.  It’s all a bit limp for my palette. I like my Newco statements frothing with anger, typed while standing in fermenting urine-soaked shoes with flute music blaring in the background.  Don’t judge me.

Today’s “legal advisor did not deem our Members Resolution as competent” is so weepy all I feel is pity.

This afternoon’s SPFL vote can change only details for Celtic.  The real battle was to make this season Null and Void and our incompetent friends across the city were chased out of town for that suggestion.  Celtic will be champions; nine-in-a-row is ours, whether achieved on the field or after Uefa issue advice to national associations.

It’s also interesting to watch the paranoia triggers.  Our own sufferers’ gas will be at a peep for a while, whereas Newco’s conspiracy theorists were born for these times.  Do not be like any of them, just because the tide goes against you, doesn’t mean The Man is out to get you!  You’re just a little anxious.

I know this is a Terrible Good Friday, but be Good to each other today – and stay indoors all weekend.

  3. The fact that the ballot papers (if they are real) get into the public domain is also worrying.

  4. Dessybhoy,

the instruction is to tick the box,

Dundee are the only ones to fill it in properly

  5. I do not confess to know more than anyone else on this matter .

I just have a fear that this is how it is going to Roll out .

If the season is declared null & void before prize money is paid out , then no prize money will be paid out .

Therefore the Huns want a decision on Prize money first.

There is a high possibility that it will be impossible to complete this domestic season.

Therefore there would be 3 options.

Null & Void or Declare the current positions and confirm champions and relegations .

The 3rd option is to declare current positions, but don’t affirm champions or relegated teams .

We do not know what Uefa will accept with regards to accepting teams for next seasons European slots .

There was a thread on here that Uefa were going to leave it to the individual national associations to decide.

If the there is a vote you need a 75% majority to carry the vote .

IF prize money has already been paid out .

Then IMHO it is unlikely that a vote to declare current league positions would be successful.

Teams who would lose out on being Champions , having a play off position , or being relegated .

Would be very likely to take the stance of the Turkey who has a vote for Christmas.

UEFA will have to decide what happens with this seasons CL and EL .

Then decide what to do about next seasons qualifiers.

Then there is the international championship’s and Olympics next year.

IMHO there will be no meaningful truncation of next seasons football season , and no realistic chance of this season playing to a finish .

It will be a battle to pay out prize money .

Then a vote on Null & Void .

Which we would most likely come out on the wrong side off.

I am aware that my negative Chimp is ruling my adult self .

    But .

    Make no mistake .

The Hun is a desperate animal and we have many detractors.

If you are no for us you are agin us .

Without any financial penalty for voting against us .

Most will vote against us .

  6. Gardiner to leave Hearts after main stand fiasco

Hearts are poised to reshuffle the club’s senior management structure with chief executive Scot Gardiner leaving next month.

Gardiner was tasked with the day-to-day running of the club when appointed by owner Ann Budge three years ago. The former chief executive of Dundee FC was also handed responsibility for overseeing the construction of the new £14million main stand.

News of his departure comes after Mrs Budge admitted the club had “dropped the ball” in its attempt to have the stand completed on schedule, the delay being put down to seats not having been ordered in time.

As a result, Hearts will have to play at least three home games at nearby BT Murrayfield at a cost expected to reach six figures.

It had been hoped the home game against Aberdeen on Saturday 9 September would be the curtain-raiser for the imposing new stand but that fixture, along with the games against St Johnstone on 21 October and Rangers seven days later, will be staged at the home of Scottish Rugby with no definite date set for a return to Tynecastle.

A lifelong Rangers fan, Mr Gardiner enjoyed a lukewarm relationship with many of the supporters since his arrival.Speaking of the delay, Mrs Budge said: “The club, quite simply, did not process the order for the seats in the required timescale to ensure delivery in line with our plan.

  8. All clubs and the spfl are entitled to push their own views and to try to pursued others to do as they do. That is the essence of a democracy, the democratic bit co.es when your counting the votes and go with the agreement set out.

It makes no difference if the spfl was trying to push clubs to agree to the proposal.

On another note, there was talk of the efl showing you can hand out prize money before season is decided, but I thought it was money from the epl that was distributed.

Oh and it would be completely inappropriate to hand out prize money as loans, the spfl need to make sure there is no future possible liability on that money, what if the season does not finish, what if clubs go under etc..

we all know why sevco are pushing that agenda, once money is in the bank they will be calling for nill and void.

  9. That situation did not improve early last year when, with the team adrift at the bottom of the league, the decision was taken to sack Barry Smith. Tasked with finding a replacement, Gardiner came up with John Brown.

Although a popular player for Dundee during the mid-1980s, “Bomber’s” name was synonymous with Rangers and the struggle by fans there to grab a larger say in the running of their club. That and the fact no other candidates seemed to have been interviewed, caused uproar among fans.

He rode that storm out but there’s no question the chief executive’s reputation had taken another battering. Matters were not helped when a fall-out between the new boss and long-serving Rab Douglas led to the keeper quitting a club where he enjoyed legendary status.

    Sevco are desperate.

Let me remind you what these loonies said in a statement last month …

“We are strongly opposed to playing games behind closed doors. Rangers fans have stuck by our club in the darkest of times. Their loyalty will not be forgotten and they will not be left behind.”

” Dundee & Dundee Utd, if want to stay separate should share a stadium – reality needed in Scottish football ”

When there was talk of the two clubs becoming one ( I know you didn`t say that) , a mate of mine said: No problem. We`ll take the name ` Dundee` from the Dens park side and `United ` from the Tanadice Club and call the New Club ` Dundee United` and play in tangerine.`

I suppose you can guess which team he supports :-)

  18. There was talk a few weeks ago about the consequences of Null & Void, ie no moneys could be distributed to clubs.

The proposal by the Sons of William, (supported by the Cousins of William ) to distribute the money now is, in my opinion, a cake and eat it scenario.

If the moneys were distributed, what would prevent a future proposal to Void the league?

Simon Jordan was proposing this last week for EPL on Talksport.

When Danny Kelly asked who then would get the European spots for next season, he was proposing the placings from last season could be used.

Bonkers suggestion but we live in strange times. If the money is already in their grubby hands we may find a completely different vote from the SPFL members….if it scuppered our title.

The Inverness spokesman kept repeating the line that you wouldn’t give Usain Bolt the gold medal after 75 metres….it is being repeated by others as of it applies to football.

Don’t hear that quoted by anyone.

  22. The good thing is that the Huns have piled in & have given it the full Monty,

Now the whole thing will have to be resolved quickly, it’s put up or shut up.

The reality is that if Dundee want to vote No they can still do it, if they have changed their mind and want to Vote Yes, well that’s OK as well.

My preference is still to play out the games behind closed doors whenever the Government give the Green Light.

So initially I didn’t give a toss how this turned out but now I want the Hun humiliated.

I have no love for either party in this spat but I hate the Hun more.

  23. Doncaster is too smart imo to leave any trail of impropriety. He is a Director and has legal responsibilities under the companies act. Some will say they shouldn’t have released a part result but if anything it was transparent. The SPFL imo have followed a legal process and the huns are barking up a tree based on innuendo.
