Weepy incompetent Newco, belligerent Hearts, be Good to each other

808

The SFA’s statement last night clarifies the immediate future of the game, or lack thereof.  No training will be permitted until at least the 10 June and the professional game can start 6 weeks after training.  Without the lockdown being extended, the earliest behind closed doors football game can take place on 22 July.

It would be possible to complete the Premiership by 19 August.  Today’s proposal by the SPFL keeps this option on the table.

The new league season would need to start immediately thereafter, games would almost certainly be played behind closed doors and Uefa would need to delay the start of Champions and Europa League qualification competitions until the last week in August.  I think this is unlikely, but it remains possible.

I understand that Hearts, four points adrift at the bottom, are lashing out in every direction, but they would be better advised to try to win support for league reconstruction than go down the belligerent route.  Maybe Ann Budge should have retained the bonus scheme and avoided all this stress.

Newco’s anger is a pale shadow of what we saw during the Traynor statement years.  It’s all a bit limp for my palette. I like my Newco statements frothing with anger, typed while standing in fermenting urine-soaked shoes with flute music blaring in the background.  Don’t judge me.

Today’s “legal advisor did not deem our Members Resolution as competent” is so weepy all I feel is pity.

This afternoon’s SPFL vote can change only details for Celtic.  The real battle was to make this season Null and Void and our incompetent friends across the city were chased out of town for that suggestion.  Celtic will be champions; nine-in-a-row is ours, whether achieved on the field or after Uefa issue advice to national associations.

It’s also interesting to watch the paranoia triggers.  Our own sufferers’ gas will be at a peep for a while, whereas Newco’s conspiracy theorists were born for these times.  Do not be like any of them, just because the tide goes against you, doesn’t mean The Man is out to get you!  You’re just a little anxious.

I know this is a Terrible Good Friday, but be Good to each other today – and stay indoors all weekend.

  1. You can’t blame ICT they are second in Championship in with a decent chance of Promotion, I reckon they are trying to swing a 14 team Premiership for next season.

In all fairness that would be the fairest solution,

  2. An Dun – I should also clarify that the Resolution would have meant that the Championship, League One and Two would have been declared finished today. Meaning their prize money could be paid out.

Hence the urgent deadline of today and the reason why all but one club in those divisions voted.

  3. What does it mean if the SPFL resolution is defeated?

Is Null & Void still a viable prospect ?

    TT

  4. Evnin all – play every game, let them wait till Christmas for prize money- tony wee Hun cabal destroying other clubs

  5. Corkcelt – If I have read the tables correctly, Falkirk, Airdrie, Montrose (and East Fife) are all within a few points of promotion in League one. I guess they are willing to accept the reality of the situation which ICT are not.

They are delaying the inevitable and restructring could still happen regardless.

So the league have a setup for a situation like this where a vote is not compulsory, amateurs

I hope you mind me asking you to explain

    Why you think that ?

  8. vote just means at least a 28 day delay until any monies due are paid out , not an ideal scenario for most teams.

  9. Celtic Park far better lookin with the three lines of white seats. Better do that again now we got Adidas

  10. TinyTim – Null and Void apparently has never been on the table as an option.

For the Champioship, leagues one and Two, the two choices were wait and see if games could be played or declare now.

For the premier league, the vote was to allow the SPFL the power to declare the league finished based on average points per game if football cannot be restarted (“pre-season” from June 10th, games in July/August).

As 10 out of 12 teams voted for that, then we know the only two teams that have a problem with it are Hearts and Rangers.

If, in the meantime, ICT vote Yes then it passes without further ado regardless of what Rangers and Hearts want.

If ICT vote no, then the SPFl will need a Plan B (or C or D).

In the meantime a load of struggling teams are left in limbo with no revenue and no idea if their season is finished or not.

    Thank’s for your response .

I’m not relaxed that Null & Void will not be put forward at a future date.

  12. Tiny Tim – Rangers will be proposing it every day of the week . . . however UEFA will demand a declaration of Champions and runners up for the European tournaments.

So it shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

Been watching the masters golf replays.Sergio just won it and he had a Taylor made hooped bag.I need to find one of those.

Watching the henrik game now,Gordon smith in the studio saying we’re going overboard with henrik.

    Love it 🍀

  14. It may create time for newco to have another go at their “gies the money now ” proposal

  15. !!Bada Bing!! on

Godon Smith suggesting it’s all a bit over the top. What a absolute prick that moron is.

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

No declaration of leagues, no final prize money?

Never mind a 14 team top flight.

We’ll be lucky to have 14 viable senior clubs come September.

“They should have waited till all the Votes were casted”

  18. If anyone is still interested in the vote, it is now being suggested that it might have been Dundee and not ICT that didn’t vote today.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I hope you have a garden to enjoy the sunshine.

  19. fairhill bhoy on

    BADA-a combined areshole then 😉

    Sorry for the swearing.

A few missed chances from both teams

  20. alex rae, home schooling from the kids teaching him english, i think he is going to get held back a year.

  21. lets all do the huddle on

never been a fan of an extended league

you are effectively swapping 2 games against the likes of aberdeen hearts hibs sevco motherwell etc for 2 games against lesser teams from the championship

i would prefer the home and away games against the current teams than diluting the league even more than it is

there just arent enough teams of a certain level to accommodate it

  22. FAIRHILL BHOY – Southerners hogging all the sunshine again. I heard it is 25 degrees and sunny in London.

  23. If indeed Inverness are ‘king maker’, the SPFL will either need to bully them into agreeing or offer something in return. The simple answer seems to be 3 divisions of 14, maybe what Inverness are holding out for assurances on. Hearts get to tay up and so do Partick under that scenario. It has been suggested that the smaller clubs in the premiership are against this as they would lose matches against us and the huns. Something will have to give.
