Westminster MPs ready to accommodate Administrators

572

A group of Westminster MPs are set to accommodate administrators Rangers FC PLC in London tomorrow in the hope of using whatever influence they have to pull a deal together.  Political interference in distressed companies is not uncommon but on this occasion the risks of collateral damage are enormous.

Fifa strictly prohibits political interference in football matters and has banned national teams and their representative clubs from international competition for matters as trivial as politically motivated appointments, never mind overt political lobbying on behalf of a football club in tax delinquency.

Prime Minister, David Cameron, commented on Rangers situation last week, although unlike Scottish First Minister, Alex Salmond, he limited himself to a neutral comment, however, I hear that Treasury officials have already been lobbied to exert pressure on HM Revenue and Customs to agree to whatever necessary to prevent Rangers from suffering the consequences of not paying tax.

Ironically, it’s Celtic and the Scotland national team who are set to suffer.  Craig Levein hopes to take his Scotland team into the World Cup qualifying tournament in September while Neil Lennon will hope to give his Celtic team a chance to qualify for the Champions League.  Fifa would be delighted to take the British government and football associations down a notch or two after the accusations of bribery at the international body emanating from England when their bid to host the World Cup perished.

Duff and Phelps have nothing to lose from meeting the MPs but with so much at stake for Scotland, Celtic and our other European entrants next season, the Scottish and London politicians must rein-in their over political interference and the SFA must get off their backsides and remind everyone of Fifa rules.

Maybeez aye, maybeeze naw but a wee story.

There is a sad king who has had a long list of jesters beheaded for failing to make him smile never mind laugh.

As the latest failed jester is about to be dragged off he begs the king for a pardon if after one year he has taught the King’s favorite horse to talk. Now the king knows it unlikely but loves his horse so much he agrees.

As the jester leaves he is met by his friend who says “You really are a fool , you will never teach the king’s horse to talk after ten years never mind one year”.

“I know” replies the jester but in a year the king might die, the horse might die or I might die.

Government Ministers, as should be obvious by now, are more Court Jesters than kings.

Too much penetration into our media by foreign powers is undesirable….

The Independent,The I,and the London Evening Standard now owned by Russian national who was formely a KGB agent.

Russia Today (Sky Channel 512) has gained a considerable foothold in UK.

However,it has recently become increasingly anti-western in its output,as diplomatic relations deteriorate..

  13. TSD not only are you are you disparging to lefties like myself your now coming up with theories about the Quatari Government Buying rangers, its not going to happen thankfully. SFTB I don’t know why you needed to bring my name into TSD’s daft political and social right wing views. I can’t remember if you’re an SNP voter or a Tory but I know you ain’t a socialist. That’s for sure else you would like me.

IF (if, if) the Uglies do survive in some form or other (which I BELIEVE/hope won’t be in the SPL) – where, or what, is the light from our “leaders” that there is/will be a sustainable plan in place for the continued impovement of Celtic FOOTBALL club (I choose my bold carefully, I could have used “improvement”)?

Odd that I’ve not seen much discussion on this – or maybe too much samba’ing these past few days?

A successful spoof needs to have a consistent tone. That is why Declan’s post works and yours do not. You are quite obviously flying a false flag and trying to undermine your stated position. Nothing wrong with that but could you not make it funnier?

    G’night CQN

  19. Eh What are you on about SFTB? Geez oh I despise you nationalists. Nationalism and Capitalism are the destruction of all human goodness, only a world ran by a global socialist government where colour, creed, nationality and profit are consigned to the dustbin of history are worth living in. I get it your a SNP fan who thinks, wrongly, they are on our side or are in some way left wing.

This is a genuine poster not a spoof of anything, and other than my first comment tonight about a song we can sing to celebrate rankers demise I have made no attempt to be funny therefore I would have been doing something wrong if anyone did find my other posts funny. I repeat the i is a bloody good paper, just cause you prefer the daily telegraph…..

  20. MPs can talk all they want….

But the outcome will be the same regarding HMRC

The only way a CVA will be accepted will be if Whyte is gone and new owners are in place and prepared to pay off a lump sum early doors.

The minute Whyte stopped paying paye this season hammered the final nail into Their coffin.

CVAs were once accepted by HMRC in the past, but in the last year this has changed dramatically.

Short term cash flow is the main benefit of a CVA to a company in trouble however with whytes sale of season tickets over the next 3 years and failure to pay tax this year shows

A clear lack of realism about Rankers ability to achieve the commitments of getting the business back into shape with a clear plan for the future short and long term.

IMO to set a precedent as in the shape of football finance in the uk Rankers are now ‘small time’ I reckon HMRC will issue a winding up order to force a buy out from any potential buyers.

  21. incidentally that Donohue Chap is never getting my vote if he becomes the candidate in my region. His support of tax evasion/avoidance and of an institution which is an anathema of what I thought the Labour Party is supposed to be about that if he was on a list or changed his constituency I would be forced to vote SSP/SWP/Socialist Labour party.

  22. Paddy

Hear ye. but yer no sayin much…….(excuse me for it’s been a long day 4 here).

Just surmising….about (in ma samba overdosed view) the lack of our collective view on what will be good for us as a FOOTBALL club, come the blue nuclear winter?

    Anybody?

  23. re MP’s,

freemasonry and dodgy dealing alive and well

    re Ogilvie,

no way will he be binned – he is Regan’s best pal since their recent trip to Russia

  24. young Celtic right-back did a Kelvin Wilson / Gary O’Connor and was made to pay by giving away a very unneccesary penalty

a cheeky wee equaliser near the end may have been unfair on the stronger (and stronger-tackling) rfc team

really got to learn to “get right intae them”…

that attribute over and above skill, ability, speed, fitness, stamina etc

    hopefully next time

  25. How can we get the Labour Party to Expel Donohue for his support of the very worst aspects of rampant gambler capitalism, for his support of a club which has a group of highly intolerant people supporting them? For that is what should happen to him. Ed Miliband must take him to task for his position which is at odds with my party.

People wrongly criticise Tony Blair who is probably the best Labour politician since Clement Attlee or Harold Wilson. He did much to reduce the gap between the richest and the poorest and living standards increased markedly during his time as did wealth creation through increased public expenditure and wealth redistribution through fairer tax policies. I am dismayed at the older generation losing faith in the essentiality of money being redistributed from the haves to the have not’s, dismayed people see people getting a fair wage as a threat and of people curtailing 6 figure salaries as a restriction on their freedom. God never intended nor liked the people who accumulated mass wealth on the backs of the suffering of others. I have a passion for social democracy and all on here should really start to think the same way.

sorry pal, cant agree, none of this is accreditable to the board, they have doene nothing.

They’ve sat on their hands, and from what I’m led to believe, they;ve sat in information and evidence that could land the club in trouble, if they have evidence of criminal practice and not offered it to the proper authorities then they are complicit in the crime. Witholding information is serious.

All we are witnessing, all the information being gathered and exposed is not the result of anything the board have done, its all the result of the tenacious interweb researchers, the board are riding high on the back of the opressed and they spent quite a long time beating us down, only a few months ago they allowed open season on the Green Brigade, the Celtic support were vilified and they stood back and let the pawns die.

They are complicit in allowing our good name be dragged through the mud,

this obviously helps their agenda of making the club a corporate day out.

Inclusive to all who can afford us is their aim.

Nothing in the last 5 years of this struggle can be accredited to this board, all the turmoil is down to us, the dumb support

    Dumb support

    Just like that tune :oD

This board have been playing the odds with our lives, some may think thats a bit dramatic, just ask Neil Lennon, remember keeping his security issues quiet in the interest of on going investigations, and our board agreed to comply ffs.

    Dumb support

  28. Paul 67 would you agree Donohue Must be expelled from the Labour Party? It makes me sick to think we let him into our party.
