What chance we see rival SPLs next season?

1081

I wonder if we will see two rival Scottish Premier Leagues next season?  We could see a SPL consistent with the threats made to SFL clubs last week, let’s call it SPL Loyal, with Hibs, KIlmarnock and a few others.  They would sit atop a feeder league containing whoever they could attract from the SFL and Sevco, who due to fan power would be excluded from the top division, no matter how few teams that division had.

Meanwhile a rival SPL could setup, let’s call it SPL Solvent, with Celtic, those from the Gang of 10 who realise they are better-off participating in a league which is likely to survive until next May, along with the teams who last season finished near the top Scottish Football league.

SPL Solvent would make no threats to exclude SFL clubs who were due promotion on merit, and would therefore attract the balance of SFL clubs; which is likely to be the overwhelming majority.  This league would contain the only club with the ability to underwrite the commitments needed to bring broadcasters and commercial partners on-board.  It would also be free of, moral and ethical questions, where clubs are united with their fans on what it means to organise sporting events.

It’s not the worst idea floated in recent weeks.

If Spain win tonight, Busquets would have won, Euro’s, World Cup, La Liga x3, UCL x2, Copa DelRey x2, UEFA SC x2, Club World Cup x2. He’s 23.

I saw that evening on Celtic TV which I do miss.

Sure all the players pre 1967 will hardly be remembered in numbers.

  5. By the way what is this about Spain being one game away from true greatness?

Brazil’s team of 1970 never won anything after thumping Italy 4-1 and they were great . Spain was fabulous four years ago and not so bad two years ago . Not so good this time but surely place in history assured?

also for anyone thinking of purchasing, check out the new Google tablet which is out this month, Google Nexus, its gonnae be a big rival to Kindle Fire and around the same price at about £150, might get one myself.

  8. Spain win tonight and I’d have no problem with them being the best international team of all time. No one can beat them.

  9. Sky News just interviewing the vice president of FIFA re. European Championships – sounded very Northern Irish, Jim Boyce the name. Jumping wildly to conclusions here – but he sounded like the type who would be happy for FIFA to keep their noses out of Govan business – although it is said he is a fan of Cliftonville so perhaps not.
