On holiday in Side, Turkey (34 degrees in the shade, phew!), logged on for a wee catch up, and stumbled into another flag debate! Have to say we do seem to get our knickers in a twist at times over a wee bit of flag waving, whether its the tricolour, saltire, butcher’s apron, four horsemen of the apocalypse, etc. etc.
For what it’s worth I watched the tennis in a bar yesterday, with a mixture of Scots and English, who cheered Andy Murray all the way, and when Salmond pulled his stunt, the comments ranged from ‘incorrigible ‘, to ’embarrassing’. He definitely, IMHO, took advantage of the moment for his own agenda.
Massive congratulations to Andy Murray on a wonderful achievement, but he now needs to be careful of the sycophants who will no doubt start to appear around his coat tails, looking for any opportunity to ride the wave of his success.
And btw guys, does it really matter what colour kit he wears, or what team he supports?

Totally disagree with you re Salmond. His gesture wasn’t in support of Andy, it was to get himself noticed. The Wimbledon rules state that no supporter can wave a banner larger than 2 feet by 2 feet.if you or I did what he did we would be reprimanded, have it confiscated or asked to leave. My take on yesterday was that it was a bit classless from the first minister. he is a patriotic Scotsman though and I would give him the benefit of the doubt in this case.
I do think that people are putting two and two together and thinking he was getting one over on his rivals but his stunt may have done his party more harm than good and for that reason I reckon he got carried away.
I’m not a fan of Salmond but he is human after all and maybe his judgement was a wee bit off in this situation.
It is for Murray to decide whether he feels more British or Scottish but he lives in England and will know that being british will mean a lot more money to him than being Scottish. In private I suspect Murray is fircely proud to be Scottish and like Billy Connolly and Rod Stewart he will be able to nail his colours firmly to the mast once he has made his cash and is old enough not to care what people think. I hope he isn;t rail roaded into being asked whether he votes for independence or not. That is a private decision and one that is nobody elses business but the voter him/herself. Does living in England even qualify him for a vote???

I think you are being a wee bit harsh on Mr O.
Martin did bring respect and success back to the club and the way he ran the team was just the way he worked.
At the time of his, and this equates to our success I do not remember hearing to many dissenting voices, he learned his craft at the feet of Clough and others and so he brought that craft to Celtic and right until the moment he left we all wanted him to stay.
I do agree with your comments re VW and NFL’s attitude to the interest shown in him and not to just run away and spend the cash just for the sake of spending it but I disagree with your opinion that the woods are full of VW type players, they are not because if they were then every club would be filled with his type, but his type are thin on the ground.
It is a good thing that PL has his fingers on the purse strings, the financial security and positive position we are in is down to him and the rest of the Board and not us on CQN although all of our opinions do make for very interesting reading.

I honestly find it thoroughly depressing that the scottish first minister, waving the saltire because a man from Scotland won the greatest prize in tennis, can anger so many people.
That aside i will be voting for independence for the following.
I want my choice of government to be accountable to me.
I want my country to be responcible for its own actions, good or bad.
I dont want nuclear weapons based 30 miles from scotlands largest city or indeed within its territory.
I do not want to be part of the lurch to the right.
I want to preserve the NHS.
In short voting yes is only the first step. After a yes vote i fully expect a conversation on issues such as Scotland become a republic or not.
I will not believe the scare stories from the NO campaign. Instead i will ask myself if, as we are often told Scotland is such a drain on the u.k resources why exactly is westminster so keen to keep a hold of us?
