When the wealthy borrow from the poor

1829

Sell fans a ticket, you owe them a game of football.  Whether the standard or result it good or bad, it’s a relatively easy commitment to keep.  That’s what fans get in return for spending money on a ticket.

Sell people shares, you owe them a share certificate.  That’s what shareholders get in return for coughing up for shares.

Borrow money from fans and you owe them much more than a game of football or a share certificate.  In many instances that money will have come from people who had to forgo things to provide you with the loan.  You owe them a duty of care that their loan will be repaid, or converted with their agreement.

It beggars belief that an unsecured loan has been offered to Rangers International by fans group, Rangers First.  If, as claimed, the obligations to Sports Direct have been met, the club will have both the ability and the incentive to pass the securities previously held by Sports Direct to the fans group.  The club’s IP, training ground and ancillary assets should now be unencumbered, who better to have security over these critical parts of the club than a fans group?

Unless, of course, the obligations to Sports Direct have not been met.  Or someone else has their eye on the assets.

The claim that Dave King would match Rangers First’s loan took me by surprise.  This was counter to everything I knew and expected of him.  His swift denial was more consistent with expectations.

There is an axiom in football: Any club who has enriched a PR individual to the tune of £500k in the last year is making a serious attempt to divert it’s fans attention.  Celtic’s PR machine deals with the efficient communication of football information and financial reports.  Nothing whatsoever is spend attempting to lead the news agenda.  This often leaves us on the receiving end of that agenda, but we have nothing to hide.  Which is the way it should be.

Few sights in business or football can be more alarming than when purportedly wealthy people borrow money from poorer people.  The warning signs are writ as tall as the Ibrox stands.  This time there is no hidden Ticketus deal people can claim they didn’t know about.

Alleged on Stranrar chat room that Celtic fan sh@t in Lidle bag and threw it in to Stranrar fans…

Seems unlikely to me .. If true -utterly vile.

Anyway on a much more positive note.

A good solid professional performance today.

I know it was your first visit to Stair Park, did you enjoy it?

Will work on Easter 2016 when I get back and will try and get as much info on centenary events before my visit on Jan 23rd.

So a fan walks into a football ground with a plastic bag in his pocket. Then does a what zit in it and throws it into the opposing fans, sounds a load of sh$Te to me……

  6. Big CC is not the quickest striker we have ever had but with 2 up front we need to get the ball up front quicker with less sideways passing. 442 it’s the future.

We are losing this propaganda war lads, how many of these stories had been prepared since the Sevco mob were called out for sectarianism. Watch the carefully planned smear campaign unrol.

  8. If you cast your mind back a couple of seasons, the huns were playing Falkirk at Brockvile, a hun threw a flare on to the new laid plastic pitch, did a bit of damage to the new laid pitch, very little in the media about it.

Heard from someone a week or so ago who works part time for Falkirk, that the damages were paid, but not by the huns.

I will give you three guesses, and I will wager you will be right the first guess.

It’ll be a “Stranraer” fan who couldn’t afford his bus fare up to the Orc Dome today. Either that or a Lidl executive trying to get some free advertising to pay for their sponsorship of the Cheating FA Cup.

  11. TET,

It was a. Teenage girl. Sevco banned her indefinitely. don’t remember what happened to her after her court case.

Sky reporting that a smoke bomb was thrown on to the pitch DURING play. I watched the whole game on Sky and didn’t see that, no comment on it from the commentators either?

Saw the flares from some of our young numbskulls before the match but not while play was going on??

I’m hearing you re flares at other games but that in no way excuses the bell ends who do it in the name of Celtic supporters, surely?

If Griff had scored with that overhead it would have been goal of the decade. The technique was absolutely brilliant and it elicited a brilliant save from their young keeper who was undoubtedly MOTM. If that had been Wayne Rooney we would be seeing it time after time.

  18. H.T.

    Good stuff.

That’s another one ticked off for you.

Can’t be too many grounds you haven’t been too now.

  19. The ” supporters” who let off the flares / smoke bombs knew the match was being televised.

I never saw any smoke bombs during the game, but the first introduction we saw on Sky Tv was that the match was being delayed.

Assuming that the people behind the flares are not completely stupid. The question is why ???????

There’s actually loads I’ve not been to mate. I’ve never been a great one for going to watch other games if Celtic aren’t playing so it means that I only really get to visit grounds where Celtic are playing.

There was definitely a banger thrown on in the first half. It was quite audible. I thought what sort of plonker throws fireworks onto a field of play when there is a game on? It came from behind the Stranraer goal when we were attacking.

  22. Cults

That wasn’t the point I was attempting to make.

Smoke bombs~flares, in scotland nothing happens, they are let off on a regular basis, yet we are the only ones who get air time, but if it wasn’t this, it would be something else, they are preaching to them who hate us.

    Feck them

Talking about bangers, there were definitely a couple in the studio with Alan Stubbs.

“OF” – it got more mentions in 4 hours than 1966 has had in the last 50 years FFS! I can’t remember the last time I shouted so much at the TV.

  24. H.T.

Ach well that’s me talking mince as usual.

Annan away in the next round then. I guess that would be a new one for you.

Paddy played down there, a tight wee astrograss pitch don’t think it would be popular with the players.

A good few tims in Annan though.
